Introduction Level 2 laboratory activities refer to the condition where only the problem is problem is guided guided and given given.. Students Students are requir required ed to find find the ways & means and provide the answers to answers to the given assignment using the group creativity and inno innova vati tive vene ness ss.. The The acti activi vity ty will will enab enable le the the stud studen ents ts to appr apprec ecia iate te independent learning and prepare them for a much harder task of open ended laboratory activities. In this partially open ended laboratory activity, the students are required to meas measur ure e the the leve levell of nois noise e from from the the traf traffi fic c acti activi viti ties es and and to prop propos ose e overcome solution. Theoretical Background &oise has been long considered as one type of pollution. This problem affected most residential housing particularly in urban area. 'ostly noise pollution is come from highway with heavy traffic. (olume of traffic, speed and perhaps also type of vehicles contribute mostly to the noise pollution. )!cessive noise from traffic can cause annoyance to daily activities, disturb rest *especially sleep+ and disrupt communication. Thus, decrease the overall quality of life. owever, people perceptions and awareness toward limitation of noise pollution may be varying. Type of residential housing, e!posure, community and areas may be affected people opinions on noise pollution. The study of noise may be done to measure level of noise pollution and its impact towards a particular area. -rom that study, action may be taken to provide adequate noise control measures such as construction of a noise barrier. % /ecommended ealth 0riteria of noise limit for daytime is 11 d and for night time is 31 d. %hile in 'alaysia, the 'alaysian 4epartment of )nvironment *4)+ recommended a 5uideline for Limiting Sound Level *L"eq+ from /oad Traffic *-or 6roposed &ew /oads and7or /edevelopment of )!isting /oads+ from The 6lanning 5uidelines for )nvironmental &oise Limits and 0ontrol *2883+. Table below listed those guidelines. Table #5uideline for Limiting sound Level from /oad Traffic
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Problem Statement Traffic noise tends to be a dominant noise source in our urban as well as rural environment. The level of highway traffic noise depends on three things# *+ the volume of the traffic, *2+ the speed of the traffic, and *$+ the number of trucks in the flow of the traffic. 5enerally, the loudness of traffic noise is increased by heavier traffic volumes, higher speeds, and greater numbers of trucks. 'easurement of noise level is necessary to determine the solution for traffic noise reduction. In this laboratory activity, each group is e!pected to find a location with potential noise area in 9iT' 6asir 5udang to conduct the study.
WAYS & MEANS
Apparatus The group must identify the availability of the chosen apparatus in the lab

before the right procedures can be identified. Procedures The group is required to search for the relevant standard procedure on environment to carry out the test based on the available apparatus in your laboratory. The document must be made ready for verification by the instructor during the laboratory activity. Data Acquisition "ll data collected and observed during the test must be tabulate in proper format for easy verification and presentation of the technical report. esults! Anal"sis and #onclusion
RESULTS
The group is required to submit the technical report of the laboratory results highlighting the apparatus used, the procedures undertaken for the test, data acquisition process, analysis carried out and the relevancy of the set: out output to address the given problem. The format of the technical report is left to the creativity discretion of the group. The report must be submitted ; days after the completion of the test.
