Workshop Breakdown “Egyptian archeology depicts almost every Warrior, Pharaoh, and God with a serpent coming out of the forehead. Their entire civilization was centered on raising Kundalini.” Private shaktipat sessions by appointment begin at the end of each day. Shaktipat is only recommended for those who have done much emotional clearing, personal work, and wish to be deeply accelerated along their path. The intent of this workshop is to teach you how to use traditional esoteric meditation techniques drawn from Asian and European systems for your own energy growth and personal development. You won’t need shaktipat if you do these methods to develop your own Kundalini power.
What Drives Kundalini and Why this System Works So Well The Kundalini is a cross cultural phenomenon that has been highly sought after for countless eons of time. Its power and its elusiveness have kept it shrouded in a thick haze of hearsay and myth. From a purely statistical point of view, martial practitioners and warriors are about the only practitioners to ever awaken Kundalini now or in the ancient times. There are the rare cases of Gopi Krishna or the renowned Muktananda and other celebrated saints who are one in a million. But very few get this gift without a lifetime of hard work. So what could possible be different now that makes the process any easier? What is the underlying element that exists in successful cases? Let’s ask ourselves a few logical questions. For starters, what do skilled martial artists do that other sitting practitioners do not? The answer is they risk their skin every time they fight. There is a tremendous amount of adrenaline involved in real combat practice. Dr. Glenn Morris believes it is this “intensity” and “adrenaline” that is responsible for the Kundalini rising in so many martial practitioners. However, it is not only anger or fear that gets the kundalini awakening underway. It is the sheer intensity of emotion. That is the cross cultural key. Kundalini can awaken from great fear. This is aligned with tales of a mother who lifts up a car off her injured child. The Egyptians made their initiates swim with crocodiles to get their adrenaline flowing. Anger has sometimes been responsible for kundalini awakening and can be sited where a warrior gained extraordinary strength to avenge a family member who was killed dishonorably. Rarely, Kundalini has awakened in people who prayed with intensity and had great compassion. The throes of passionate sex, love, and ecstasy are also very good bait for arousing the Kundalini. Kundalini can be awakened by physical and emotional trauma. Kundalini is part of the fight or flight response. The Lightening Path system uses the safest, time tested, and mother approved meditations. This allows the average meditator to safely awaken the Kundalini by harnessing powerful states. The system further combines Chi Kung and targets the chakra individually to make the rising process faster. Lastly, diagnostic techniques are given for your use in ascertaining progress on yourself and others as you move through the Lightening Path.
Over the years a great deal of thought has gone into this system via HoshinTao Grandmaster, Dr. Glenn Morris. There are hundreds of people who have had the “partial” kundalini awakening and over one hundred who have opened up the full Kundalini with this same system you are holding today. Its efficiency taps into all the angles of the Kundalini drivers: Breath, Meditation, Emotion, Psychology, and Moving Energy in orbits along the meridians. Simply try your best to really get into the emotional feelings of the exercises; that is one of the big keys.
Shaktipat/Shakti and Chi Transmission Kundalini Shakti is an evolutionary energy shrouded in mystery and misconceptions since ancient times. It’s a normal process for self-development that can be activated by specific proven techniques developed by ancient medical practitioners for the protection of family lines and elite military and religious groups across centuries and cultures. This biological process has historically been hidden by symbolic codes, occult practices, and religious dogma because a person through their own effort and diligent practice can develop the skills and understanding of enlightenment and leadership formally restricted to the highest levels of the priesthoods and royalty. This is the ultimate self-empowerment practice. Historically, therapies, self-help groups, and self-improvement classes work from effecting change from the outside in. Awakening your own kundalini will ignite an internal, inside out process that effects permanent change. The most permanent and practical way to activate your own kundalini is through disciplined practice. A secondary practice is actual hands on touch from someone who has actual experiences and demonstrated competency in kundalini activation. This is historically known as Shaktipat in Sanskrit or Chonokyo in Japanese. Another way is to meditate with those who have achieved full kundalini activation and have the ability to transmit Shakti by their intent and presence. To receive Shakti kundalini depends fully on the openness and willingness of the receiver in the context of having authentic transmitters. “One of the siddhi (magicks) of yoga or chi kung is the ability to transfer energy or to give shaktipat. It is often used in the healing process and is available to most people as reiki or healing touch (HT). Shakti differs from chi in that it is intelligent energy or creative energy. When a person is zapped with shakti the energy will stay with them and begin to adapt to his or her body often rendering them healthier and allowing them to experience a spiritual awakening. I first learned how to work with energy from a couple of Therapeutic Touch Canadian nurses at an AHP convention back in the 80s. Since then I've worked with polarity therapists, reiki masters, chi teachers, and various healing touch teachers to develop a system of energy transfer for hoshin (my martial arts system)
healers as well as the shaktipat transfer that is part of the Heaven’s Way Chi Gung; Lightening Path of Esoteric Yoga, Levels One and Two for Kundalini awakening. Some systems of yoga treat shaktipat as a great mystery and at one time I suppose it was. However, it can be defined and transferred in a number of ways. In budo chi is developed by breathing techniques and usually transferred by master to student through presence and beating the energy into the student while training together. Most yoga guru and some chi kung teachers use mass shaktipat through raising the level of energy in a room or group. This is why the sangha or group that meditates together is considered sacred as there is a merging of energy. (This is another reason to be careful about whom you select as a teacher.) Often a healer will activate a chakra by touching it with a finger or peacock feather. A skilled master can send you energy just by looking at you, or just thinking about you, or from a picture. However, this type of transfer, though sometimes blissful for the recipient seldom lasts long. It seems there is a general perception that this is a once in lifetime thing, but one can have shaktipat as often as they can find a real guru. Shaktipat is used in three ways in the Kundalini Awakening Levels. (1) As a group we meditate together and there are often two or three realized masters in the room. (2) Meridian Massage is taught in Level Two which is a form of reiki/chi connection developed by martial artists to speed healing that prepares the body for handling higher energy more effectively and (3) one can purchase a Shaktipat Massage if one so desires. Shaktipat massages are designed to speed up the kundalini process for the practitioner by removing some blockages, rejuvenating the endocrine system, and preparing the chakra to process more positive energy. Same sex Shaktipat is for increasing gender differences, cross sex shaktipat which increases sensitivity, and dual shaktipat which often results in immediate Kundalini experiences for the recipient.” Dr. Glenn Morris
What is Chi Kung? Chi Kung or Qi Gong is primarily the science of bioelectrical energy generation and circulation within the human body. The result of Chi Kung practice is increased physical and mental vitality. Chi Kung is an ancient Chinese practice that is over 4500 years old. The emphasis is on the direction of energy (chi) through the use of mind intention, body movement, meditation, and breath. Huang Ti (2598-2597 BC) was the supposed founder of Taoist Internal Alchemy, which later came to be known as Chi Kung. This became a discipline practiced by both Taoist and Buddhist monks and Martial Artists who wished to develop their inner strength and reach enlightenment. The Lightening Path focuses on opening the chakra and kundalini channels using Chi Kung. This has been proven to be highly efficient in the goal of awakening your kundalini. Chi Kung emphasizes balancing and strengthening of the body so that it can heal itself. In 1985, Dr. Glenn Morris achieved the full raising of the Kundalini using these techniques and since has been able to guide over 100 of his students to successful and relatively painless full kundalini awakenings. See Pathnotes of an American Ninja Master (1993), for a more academic description of the process.
We are seeking to open and balance the body’s energy centers or chakra. The Lightening Path comprehensive training consists of physical movements associated with each energy center along with meditation. The work you will be doing on the chakra is not for the daily home practice as this would be very time consuming. The work you are doing with the chakra in this training is preparing the body for success. it is not for daily training unless you desire to exercise a particular center. The CD is all you need to maintain and be successful in your practice. Just practice for 30 minutes every day. Most of you who have success will do so by taking the momentum from this training and simply practicing everyday.
Chi Kung’s Three Treasures 1. Jing: Sperm (Male), Hormones (Female), chemicals and neurotransmitters, the entire endocrine system, and the genetic makeup. Jing is basically what makes a person what they are. Male sperm is by far the most concentrated source of jing in the human body and it is empowered by the chi. sperm travels up the spine to feed the body and brain with its rich nutrient makeup. In females, the ovaries and other organs sustain this function. Chi kung allows the hormones to be transported where they are needed. 2. Chi: The simplest way to describe chi is as the energy of life, life essence, and breath. These are almost literal translation of the term. We breathe chi when we inhale and consume chi when we eat. We use chi in healing and in combat. Humans are born with a certain amount of chi that has been inherited from their parents. From there the child must begin to gather his own chi from the use of breathing. Since chi is so closely associated with breath (except at the highest levels), it is clearly married to circulation/blood, oxygen, and the nerve impulses. Strong chi increases vigor and longevity. 3. Shen: The she in the energy of the mind or “higher chi”. At later practices the chi is transformed into shen and it is said that is what leads to enlightenment. As the supply of chi increases through your practice it grows to a personal limit. At that point it transforms into shen and races up the spine to result in the awakening of the kundalini. The actual kundalini awakening process, the Lightening Path, is changing chi into Shen.
Emptying the Mind Meditation is simply the act of relaxing and stilling the mind. While this may seem simple, when one sits down and attempts to do this the person may encounter difficulty. Silencing the mental chatter requires practice. However, for the purposes of this training we are going to assume you know how to clear the mind of chatter. Simply begin by sitting in the posture and attaching any effort on a particular thought that arise. Then begin to focus on the breathing patter. We won’t elaborate further on emptying the mind since concentrating you attention on the breath should be sufficient to keep your mind focused and clear.
Kundalini Awakening Posture To awaken kundalini there are certain principles that greatly increase the efficiency of the process. One of these principles is “pleasure”. The meditation posture used for kundalini awakening is called “fudosai”. In fudosai, posture, the heel is under the perineum for balance and pressure on the root chakra. This is a key principle in the Lightening Path training. Pressing with the heel can feel good. And another component to the kundalini awakening meditation is for the spine and the back to be straight. This can be a bit tricky if you have not meditated upright before. This is a requirement for success since the kundalini needs a clear path up the spine. Posture is important. A meditation cushion to place underneath the base of the spine is highly beneficial. You are only going to sit on the front 1/4 of the cushion. This elevates you perfectly so that you can then sit with the heel underneath the perineum without too much strain. It is important to keep your spine and neck very healthy and flexible. If the kundalini hits a blockage in the spine, it burns. Kundalini passes through the path of least resistance. The smoother the ride the better the kundalini. Keep the pipe clean and straight so that the flow is unimpaired. Lastly, you must keep the tongue pressed to the roof of your mouth. This connects the two primary energy circuits of the governing vessel and conception vessels. Raising the tongue to the roof of the mouth greatly reduces the chances of damaging the nervous system and has a valve like effect of allowing excess energy to move down the sides of the neck. You should try to adopt this habit of keeping the tongue raised throughout your daily life. This is the most important rule. Keep the tongue up!!!
The Breathing Style Zen Breathing is the main form of breathing used in the kundalini awakening program. It is a relaxed form of breathing involving the bringing in of air, through inhalation, to below the abdomen rather than the chest. This form of breathing is known by many names: Buddha’s breath, baby’s breath, fetus breath, etc, because it is the way that both babies and enlightened people breathe. This is the most important practice in kundalini awakening. The mastering of this deep belly breathing is the mark of the master and essential to achieving the kundalini awakening. The Zen breathing meditation should be mastered before moving into any of the energy moving or body moving meditations. It should be the foundation of any meditation and used at the beginning of every meditation session. It relaxes the body, focuses the mind, helps prepare for higher meditations and builds up strong chi. This meditation alone will greatly increase the chi circulating within the body and yields profound health benefits.
The Kundalini Awakening Breathing Instructions 1. Begin by sitting in the fudosai meditative posture. The mudra of choice to rest the fingers of the right hand within the fingers of the left hand, palms facing upwards with the thumb tips touching each other. The hands should be then resting comfortably in the area of the genitals. 2. Place the tongue on the roof of the mouth just behind where the teeth join with the palate. Close the eyes. 3. Begin to slowly belly breath, inhaling the air DOWN into the abdomen, expanding the stomach as the air enters the body. Fill the lungs from bottom to top. Inhale for a count of four. Time the breathing with the SLOW counting so that you have filled your lungs just as your reach four. 4. Exhale slowly from the top of your lungs to the bottom, contracting the stomach inwards. This should pull the tummy back inwards toward the spine. Do this for a slow count of ten. 5. Inhale once again, same as before. There should be no pause between the inhaling and the exhaling; the breath is seamless. Focus on the counting to keep the extraneous thoughts from intruding. Continue this for at least ten minutes a day. The eventual goal is to get the breathing down to between four and six breaths a minute. The downward push of inhale will eventually become testicular / ovarian breathing and inflate out well below the navel without the upper ribs moving at all.
