The Prime Minister is the ex-officio Chairman of the National Development Council.
ü
All Union Cabinet ministers are the members of National Development Council.
ü
Chief Ministers of all the states are the members of the National Development Council.
ü
The Members of Planning Commission are the members of National Development Council.
ü
The secretary of the Planning Commission acts as the secretary of National Development Council.
FUNCTIONS OF NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL:

The NDC provides the guidelines for preparation of the five year plan.
ü
The NDC considers the national plan as prepared by the Planning Commission.
ü
The NDC makes an assessment of the resources that are required for implementing the
plan and suggest methods for augmenting them. ü
The NDC considers the important questions of social and economic policy affecting national development.
ü
The NDC reviews the national plan from time to time.
ü
The NDC recommends the measures for achievement of aims and targets set out in the national plan.
