Introduction to automation various type of technology for automation. Automation Basics which will cover the topics such as Pneumatics, Sensor Technol...
Introduction to automation Today the development of advanced technology in the industrial automation system is used into almost all manufacturing fields. The automation control system is controlled by the help of the digital computer. Better production quality, increased production speed, improved production control. System : Automation is control of a system/equipment. The participants get to know what is a system and what is it that is exactly automated in a system. It gives an overview of the mechanical/electrical aspects of the system. Pneumatics Technology : Pneumatic components are the components that work on AIR supply. In a system/equipment various pneumatic components are used as actuators namelyCylinders are used to perform various actions like gripping, locating pins, sorting of components etc. Valves – cylinders are controlled using solenoid valves. Different types of valves can be selected as per application : 3/2, 5/2, 5/3 etc. Sensor Technology : Most of the automation systems are closed loop systems i.e. to have a better control they have a feedback mechanism in place. This feedback system used is Sensors. This section introduces the participants to the Sensors, their types(Digital/Analog) and working. It also helps to understand the designing aspects i.e. which sensor to use when and the output of each sensor. Variable Frequency Drives(VFD) : Motors are extensively used in automation systems in varied applications viz. conveyors, gantry systems, robots etc.Motors are controlled using different methods like Starters, Drives. With the On-the-Job programming of the in-house setup of STARTER Panel; the participants get a complete understanding of the different motor Starter methods i.e. the DOL(Direct Online Starters), Star-Delta Starters. Relay Technology : Relays are extensively used in the automation industry for isolation and control. Besides, PLC Ladder logic has evolved into a programming language that represents a program by a graphical diagram based on the circuit diagrams of relay logic hardware.Hence emphasis is given on understanding Relays and their working. Relay Panel the concepts of working of relays, sequencing, Latching and timers are also Cleared. A major part of automation industry is driven by the Process industry. P&IDs are extensively used in the Process Industry to depict the signal flow i.e. it shows the piping of the process flow together with the installed equipment and instrumentation.

PLC is digital Programs use to be industrial. computer that monitor Input, makes decisions and output to controls automate process Machine. SCADA : SCADA( Supervisory control and data acquisition) is extensively used in the Process industry for remote monitoring and control of the plant/ system which is geographically wide spread. HMI (Human Machine Interface) : HMI is a device that acts as an interface between the PLC and the operator. The participants learn the configuration and programming of HMI using a project based approach.
