Product Catalog Introduction A Product Catalog provides the parts information for ranges of machines (typically o ne base model with one or more serial number ranges). Typically, a Product Catalog consists of several sections which relate to the major systems or components. For example: E = Hydraulics L = Engines Each section consists of one or more sub-sections. Each sub-section relations to a minor system or component (each of which is a child of t he parent section). For example: E = Hydraulics E01 = HOSE & PIPEWORK E02 = CAB E03 = BOOM Sub-Sections provide access to the parts pages. For example: E = Hydraulics E01 = HOSE & PIPEWORK E120-70-1= HYDRAULIC CIRCUITS LOADER END (LIFT END) E120-200-1 = HYDRAULIC CIRCUITS LOADER END (PIPEWORK)

Working with Serial Numbers Introduction Unless you already know the part number that you require, the best way to search for data in JCB Parts Plus+ is to use the machine ’s serial number. There are two ways that you can search by serial number:
Use the Find a Product to Search by Serial Number
Complete a Quick Search by Serial Number
JCB Parts Plus+ will display the most up-to-date information for your machine. The amount or type of information that the system returns depends upon a number of factors (for example: product type, age of machine, production location, etc). Five different scenarios are explained in this section:
SCENARIO #1: Exact Match Found (VIN Lock Plus+ Enabled)
SCENARIO #2: Exact Match Found (but VIN Lock Plus+ cannot be enabled)
SCENARIO #3: Multiple Models Found
SCENARIO #4: No Production Data Found
SCENARIO #5: No Results Found
It is important that you understand the differences between the scenarios and learn how to interpret the data that JCB Parts Plus+ displays. Only Scenario #1 provides the user with data that is specific to the machine serial number ( for example: a SERIAL NUMBER SPECIFIC product catalog). This is the best scenario as you will only see the parts that were originally installed on the machine. JCB Parts Plus+ achieves this by enabling its VIN Lock Plus+ function. Scenarios #2, #3 and #4 provide the user with access to MODEL RANGE product catalogs. These catalogs show all of the parts that could have been installed on a machine (fo r example, all of the available attachments) therefore you will need to make more decisions to identify the correct part.
59
SCENARIO #1: Exact Match Found (VIN Lock Plus+ Enabled) Search result: System finds the complete machine build record for the serial number and the parts data is VIN Lock Plus+ compatible.
System response: The screen updates to show the Vehicle Summary Screen . The “docked” Vehicle Summary dialog is shown in the top right corner of the screen, to confirm that VIN Lock Plus+ is now enabled. Refer to: Figure 58.
User action required: None – the data is now specific to your machine. TIP! If you select Advanced Search (when you are in VIN Lock Plus+ mode) then the search criteria will be auto-populated with the current machine model.
VIN Lock Plus+ enabled: Yes - Refer to: VIN Lock Plus+. Figure 58. Docked Vehicle Summary Dialog (VIN Lock Plus+ Mode enabled)

60
SCENARIO #2: Exact Match Found (but VIN Lock Plus+ cannot be enabled) Search result:
System finds the complete machine build record for the serial number but the parts data is not VIN Lock Plus+ compatible.
Note: This typically occurs when the machine was built before 2010 and therefore pre-dates the VIN Lock functionality. The part numbers for the non-VIN Lock compatible parts catalogs have the prefixes “9802/” or “9812”.
System finds partial machine build record.
Note: This typically occurs when the machine is too new (the build data has not yet been processed within JCB Parts Plus+).
System response: The screen updates to show the Vehicle Summary Screen. Refer to: Figure 59.
The “unlocked” (floating) Vehicle Summary dialog is shown in the top right corner of
the screen
TIP! The “unlocked” Vehicle Summary dialog will remain open until you close it . You can move it (drag and drop) so that it does not block your view of the original window.
The Vehicle Summary Screen shows hyperlinks to multiple MODEL RANGE Product Catalogs
User action required: While you navigate the MODEL RANGE product catalog, you can use the “unlocked” (floating) Vehicle Summary dialog to help you identify the correct parts and parts pages

62
SCENARIO #4: No Production Data Found Search result: The system finds a “fuzzy” match and therefore cannot identify the exact machine build record.
Note: This typically occurs when the serial number provided is incomplete or two machine build records exist for a serial number.
System response: JCB Parts Plus+ cannot display the Vehicle Summary Screen; it can only suggest the product catalogs whose serial number ranges match your serial number. Where two or more potential matches are identified, you will receive a dialog containing a list of the related specifications. Refer to: Figure 61.
User action required: Click on the relevant hyperlink to open the MODEL RANGE Product Catalog.
VIN Lock Plus+ enabled: No - JCB Parts Plus+ cannot enable VIN Lock Plus+. Figure 61.
SCENARIO #5: No Results Found Search result: System cannot recognise the serial number. System response: User receives a dialog ( Message from webpage) to show that no matches were found. Refer to: Figure 62.
User action required: The user needs to check/re-enter the serial number. VIN Lock Plus+ enabled: No - JCB Parts Plus+ cannot enable VIN Lock Plus+. Figure 62. SCENARIO 5: No Results Found
63
VIN Lock Plus+ Introduction The parts catalogs support ranges of machines. Therefore, the catalogs show all of the parts that could have been installed on a machine (for example, all of the available attachments). Refer to: Figure 63. Figure 63.VIN Lock Plus+ DISABLED
= 152
VIN Lock Plus+ allows users to filter (by specific serial number) the contents of a parts catalog so that only the parts that were originally installed on the machine are shown. Refer to: Figure 64.
Note: VIN Lock Plus+ can remove pages based upon their serial number applicability. However, VIN Lock Plus+ cannot currently remove pages based upon their cut-in dates. By reducing the amount of data that is shown, VIN Lock Plus+ makes it easier to identify the correct parts for your machine. This will provide you with added confidence that you are quoting/ordering the correct part number(s). TIP! Even when you know a machine’s serial number, it is sometimes beneficial to not work with VIN
Lock Plus+ enabled. For example, if you require a beacon (and the machine was originally supplied without one) then you can use the non-VIN Lock Plus+ catalog to find the compatible beacon options. For more information, refer to Error! Reference source not found. .

Choosing to Work without VIN Lock Enabled Even when you k now a machine’s serial number, it is sometimes beneficial to not work with VIN Lock Plus+ enabled. For example, if you require a beacon (and the machine was originally supplied without one) then you can use the non-VIN Lock Plus+ catalog to find the compatible beacon options. To leave VIN Lock Plus+ mode, left-click the Vehicle Summary dialog. The Vehicle Summary Dialog will disappear to show that you are no longer restricting the data to a particular machine. Refer to Figure 65. Figure 65. No Vehicle Summary Dialog (VIN Lock Plus+ Mode NO LONGER enabled)
