Introduction
Connecting rod is used in reciprocating engine to connect the piston to the crank shaft. Together with the crankshaft it form a simple mechanism which convert reciprocating motion to rotary motion. Mostly connecting rods are used in automobile sector.
The geometry of the connecting rod is complicated so to create the geometry of connecting rod in any modelling software it is very difficult task. To create the geometry of connecting rod the use of 3D scanner is essential.
By using 3D needle scanner take the data of the geometry of the connecting rod and import that geometry in any modelling software like CATIA or PRO-E.
The stresses in the connecting are calculated by using ANSYS software.
The forces in connecting rod are to be calculated by using empirical relations
