IER567 Printer for Sabre Multihost
1.0 Project Overview 1.1 Document Purpose
The purpose of this document is to describe the installation and operating parameters of the IER 567 for Sabre Multihost on the Sabre platform. This document is intended for Field Engineers (FEs) and others responsible for the installation and maintenance of this printer. 1.2 Project Overview
The IER 567 Printer was selected by Sabre Multihost to enhance the selection of airline printers. The IER 567 is used for Automated Ticketing and Boarding Pass printing. The IER 567 meets the Sabre Protected Message Protocol requirements.
2.0 Requirements 2.1 Hardware Requirements
The IER 567 is a serial printer; therefore, any Sabre recommended hardware is acceptable for use with the IER 567 printer. 2.1.1 File Server Hardware Requirements N/A 2.1.2 Workstation Hardware Requirements
The IER 567 will connect to any new or existing Intelligent Workstation (IWS). The IWS provides the RS232 communications interface for the printer. It is recommended that the computer have a minimum 486 processor; a Pentium would be preferred. The IWS for this installation should be installed and functional on the network prior to the installation of the IER 567 Printer. 2.2 Software Requirements
The following software should be installed and configured prior to the installation of the IER 567. SabreView 32 v5.0C, or higher, containing the Open Auxiliary Device Platform (OADP) Print Driver.

2.2.2 File Server Software Requirements N/A 2.2.3 Workstation Software Requirements
If the printer is part of a new installation, the printer will require a printer Terminal Address (TA) to be added to either an existing or a new communication line. The printer will connect to an Intelligent Workstation for access to Sabre. For the communication cable specifications required for the airport user terminal and for the printer, reference Appendix 7.1 Communication Cable Specification .

Data transmission is not working properly if using a standard IER RS232 cable. Solution
The Sabre print module monitors Clear to Send (CTS) on the workstation side. In a Sabre ATB2 Cable, the workstation’s CTS is pinned to the printer’s DTR. In the Standard IER RS232 cable, the workstation’s CTS is pinned to the printer’s RTS. The print module would not be able to determine the status of the printer’s DTR. It is recommended to use the Sabre ATB2 printer cable.
