iDEN Harmon Harmony y Wireless ™ Communication System
RoBUSt eatURe Set Motorola’s Motorola’ s iDEN HWCS oers digital communication services including two-way dispatch, dispatch, wireless telephone interconnect, data communications, and messaging. The system can operate at both 800 MHz and 900 MHz and allows or separate or combined eets o 800 MHz and 900 MHz users.
Packet data communication, supporting gross dat a Packet rates o up to 96 kbps is available.
The system’s system’s two-way dispatch portolio o services includes private and group calling, call alerting, and dispatch calling line identifcation. Advanced dispatch communications capabilities including crosseet private dispatch call, emergency group call, priority calling, and multiple talkgroup scan. Isolated Site Operation allows talkgroup users to communicate on a RF site i a lost connection to the Mobile Switching Ofce occurs.
Motorola’s patented security algorithm is used to Motorola’s combat cloners and other unauthorized users rom gaining access to the system.
Wireless telephone interconnect services include standard mobile originated and mobile terminated calls. Calling line identifcation services, both presentation and restriction, are available in addition to the ull set o call orwarding capabilities. A suite o call barring services is also included to govern telephone interconnect use at a system level and by individual users. The system is capable o perorming translations o dialed digits or incoming and outgoing calls to and rom the system. The translations can be perormed on dialed digits, trunk groups, subscriber groups, and the subscriber’s originating location. Class o Service is also available allowing selected groups o subscribers to be established with their own unique dial plan. Source directed routing enables calls to the same number to be routed to dierent destinations based on the subscriber’s location in the network. A variety o signaling protocols are supported by the system, including includ ing PRI and ISUP. Basic telephone interconnec inte rconnectt emergency calls such as E911 Phase I and Phase II are supported as well as Local Number Portability.
Dispatch networking, packet data, messaging and telephone interconnect roaming are supported between multiple Harmony Wireless Communication Systems as well as with other iDEN systems.
enteRpRiSe appLicationS Motorola NetDispatch Messenger allows personal computer users in an IP environment to communicate worldwide with subscriber units in an HWCS RF environment using dispatch services. Dispatch services can be integrated with Motorola CENTRACOM Gold Elite or MCC5500 Consoles. Dispatch group call voice recording is also available. MeSSaGinG Traditional GSM-based short message ser vice, mobileoriginated and mobile-terminated, is supported. An aordable alphanumeric messaging alternative is supported or more cost conscious operators. Both alternatives support voice mail alert notifcation to the subscriber unit. Text messages up to 140 characters each can be sent to subscribers with acknowledgement o successul or unsuccessul delivery returned by the system. Both on board and o board text messaging are supported or message submission.

coMpact MoBiLe SWitchinG oice The MSO consists o the control and power cabinets. The small MSO ootprint and comparatively low power draw make an ideal solution or operations with limited oor space while helping to minimize operations costs. The control cabinet contains all o the hardware and sotware necessary to support dispatch, packet data and telephone interconnect call processing, network and alarm management and remote access. The power cabinet, a standard eature o the system, provides a continuous power supply with up to 8 hours o battery back up.
pRoVen MotoRoLa ceLL Site anD SUBScRiBeR Unit technoLoGY The HWCS incorporates Motorola’s market proven and aordably priced iDEN cell site technology. Omni and sector confgurations are available. The system supports a ull range o iDEN subscriber units including industry leading mobile devices, ruggedized units designed or high ambient background noise, consoles and RF modems. oUtStanDinG DiGitaL R eiciencY The HWCS incorporates Motorola’s 6:1 TDMA radio requency interleave, enabling up to six simultaneous conversations to be carried in one 25 KHz channel. By contrast, today’s analog systems carry only one conversation in the same channel bandwidth. Up to fve times more users can be supported with the same amount o RF resources. Optionally, system operators can elect to use Motorola’s premium audio quality 3:1 RF interleave or wireless telephone interconnect. AMBE++ and VSELP voice coders are supported. SiMpLiieD opeRationS anD Maintenance The HWCS is designed to keep operations costs to a minimum. Equipped with both a local management console and a remote access router, the system is accessible by operations personnel, over a standard dial up connection, rom anywhere. There is no need to maintain personnel on site at all hours. Likewise, call detail records are collected and stored by the system and can be downloaded locally or remotely by the operator’s downstream customer management system. The HWCS’s programmable alarm notifcation eatures deliver major and critical alarm notifcations to both local and remote management consoles and can be confgured to deliver pages via email or to personnel carrying conventional numeric pagers.
ScaLaBiLitY The HWCS MSO supports rom one to 576 RF cells. Motorola oers a wide range o HWCS System Confgurations to accommodate extremely small systems with just a ew RF sites & users , and up through the maximum system confguration. The hardware supports the system’s maximum subscriber database capacity of 50,000 users. Accommodating subscriber and coverage area growth is principally accomplished by adding cell sites and base radios. aSt anD eaSY inStaLLation The Harmony Wireless Communication System is designed to get the system operator up and running quickly and easily. The MSO is integrated at Motorola’s manuacturing acility and can be activated on site within a ew days. The entire system can be operational within a week’s time depending on the number o sites installed with the system. MotoRoLa cUStoMeR SUppoRt & SotWaRe Maintenance pRoGRaM Motorola’s customer support acility is accessible by HWCS operators 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Product support, or one year,is included as a basic service. Another service oered is the annual sotware maintenance program that delivers exciting new eatures, allowing operators to ser ve their clients better. inD oUt MoRe … To learn more about the Harmony Wireless Communication System (HWCS), contact us at www.Motorola.com/ Harmony or contact your Motorola representative.
