1.0 1.0 INTRODUCTION This Specification Package outlines the requirements for the supply of a HVAC Duckwork system capable supplying clean fresh air requirements within the new LER Module, for the BP Andrew Area Development. The technical requirements and equipment specification for this HVAC package are based on the BP Andrew platform specifications. The equipment specified within this document shall be developed by the Vendor to Industry Standards and their original equipment specifications. To accomplish this, the Vendor shall draw upon his existing, pre-engineered or standard designs to satisfy the functional requirements. Equivalents will be considered provided it can be shown to the satisfaction of the purchaser that they meet or exceed the referenced standards or requirements. 1.1
General Requirements
This document is intended to provide sufficient information to enable the Supplier to design, build and test new HVAC Duckwork system as identified within this document. The following principles are adopted: •
The new system will be supplied in accordance with standards listed in section 2 of this document.
•
The new system will be supplied in accordance with requirements listed in section 5 of this document.
•
The new system should have maximum versatility for modification, be maintenance free (where possible), provide optimum operational availability and reliability and incorporate a high degree of personal safety.
1.2
Definitions
The following definitions shall apply for use in this specification: Purchaser WGE or their appointed agent. 1.3 Roles and Responsibilities The Purchaser shall: •
Review and approve all Supplier documentation in accordance with SDRL accompanying this document.
•
Assist Supplier as required.
•
Attend Quality Assurance (QA) checks and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) as required.
•
Conduct a review of any special system design as advised by the Supplier.
Upon receipt of the Order, the Supplier shall: •
Nominate a Fixed Focal Point who shall act as primary point of contact for the duration of the order.
•
Revert with a complete working solution for design, manufacture, testing, commissioning and documentation.
•
Provide a complete plan from order receipt to commissioning and handover and in particular, material delivery dates to site.
•
Carry out Site Survey as required, ensuring any proposed new equipment can by satisfactorily installed.
•
Provide all documentation deliverables in accordance with supplied SDRL.
•
Identify any exceptions and non-compliances to relevant standards, current industry practice and legislation.
•
Advise the Purchaser, prior to implementation within the design, of any special system design.
•
Provide and install all materials for the manufacture of new UPS system.
•
Manage all modifications and apply a change control procedure that clearly records all changes. The change control procedure shall be available for review by the Purchaser.
•
Carry out the FAT and SAT for the modifications to the satisfaction of the Purchaser’s representative.

2.0 INTRODUCTION This Specification together with the General Engineering Specification, attachments and referenced documents defines the minimum standards for the fabrication and installation of the HVAC Ductwork, associated fittings and ductwork supports. In addition this Specification covers the installation of the free issued items of equipment and installation of insulation to achieve fire rating and thermal protection of ductwork, fire dampers and fire rated penetrations. The HVAC Ductwork and associated fittings shall be installed as part of the internal and external ventilation distribution systems serving the various Topsides Production Utility Areas on a fixed offshore facility within the Caspian Sea. This Specification shall be developed by the Topsides Contractor from the industry standards and supporting documentation referenced below. To accomplish this requirement the Topsides Contractor shall draw upon his existing, pre-engineered or standard designs to satisfy the functional requirements specified herein.
3.0 SCOPE OF SUPPLY
3.1
This Specification, the reference documents therein and the attached Company’s Standard Detail Drawings shall form the minimum scope for the fabrication and installation of the Topsides HVAC Ductwork, all associated fittings and internal ductwork hangers and supports together with the installation of all free issue items of equipment, fire rating and thermal insulation protection of ductwork, fire dampers and penetrations. The Topsides Contractor shall fabricate, supply and install all external HVAC Ductwork supports as detailed on the Company’s Structural Support Drawings. General Description The Topsides Contractor shall be responsible for the manufacturer, supply, installation and leakage testing of the complete HVAC Ductwork system. The HVAC Ductwork and associated fittings shall comprise of but not be limited to the following components, • • •
Straight lengths of ductwork. Duct Flanges and Stiffeners. • Ductwork fittings complete with internal turning vanes as required. Spigot connections for grilles and diffusers.

It shall be the responsibility of the Topsides Contractor to inform the Company in writing of any deviations from the fabrication requirements described within this Specification or the documents referenced therein prior to ductwork fabrication. The Company reserves the right to reject any deviations by the Topsides Contractor when not complying with the above requirement. Free Issue Items of Equipment The following Free Issue Items of Equipment will be delivered to the fabrication yard by the Company for installation within the HVAC Distribution Ductwork systems by the Topsides Contractor.

Requirements All HVAC Ductwork sizes, material thickness, routing, insulation type, etc. will be as indicated on the Company’s HVAC General Arrangement layouts and Standard Detail drawings. The following minimum standards of manufacture shall be complied with.
3.3.1 General Equipment and materials of construction shall be entirely suitable for the environment within which all HVAC Ductwork will be located as described within this Specification and the documents referenced therein.

(SMACNA) standards for the equivalent class of HVAC Ductwork and fittings.
3.3.2 Package Interfaces All HVAC Ductwork interconnecting free issued items of equipment shall be installed in accordance with the Company’s Flange Drillings Detail Drawings, the Equipment Manufacturers installation procedures and DW/144 or SMACNA installation requirements.
3.3.3 Reliability The HVAC Ductwork provides an important function on the platform, with respect to the Health, Safety and Welfare of personnel. The Topsides Contractor shall therefore provide material with a proven track record of high reliability and integrity within the offshore industry.
3.3.4 Environmental Conditions
3.4
The environmental data scheduled in section 3.2 of the General Engineering Specification No. BR-1GZZZZ-ME-SPE-0001 shall be used to establish the minimum working conditions that the HVAC Ductwork will experience. Supply Air serving enclosed areas will be filtered, heated or cooled prior to being delivered into the respective space. External HVAC Ductwork will be located within a saline and highly corrosive environment. Testing HVAC Ductwork shall be tested in accordance with the minimum requirements as detailed within A Practical Guide to Ductwork Leakage Testing DW/143, and as described within section 7.0 All inspection and testing shall be in accordance with GP 32-10, GP 32-20 and GP 3248.
4.0 APPLICABLE CODES, STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS As a minimum all equipment supplied as part of this package shall be manufactured, tested and delivered in accordance with the relevant sections of the following International Codes, Standards and Regulations, including addenda, supplements or revisions thereto.

The use of any alternative engineering standard to those listed below must be approved by the Company, in writing, prior to work commencing. These Codes, Standards and Regulations, together with all applicable Reference Specifications are listed below. It shall be the Topside Contractors responsibility to ensure his own compliance and that of his sub-suppliers with all Codes, Standards, Specifications and Regulations. Should any conflict occur as a result of applying the Specification with any Applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations, the Topside Contractor shall refer conflict to the Purchaser for resolution. 5.0 FABRICATION DRAWINGS The Topsides Contractor shall submit the required copies of all HVAC Ductwork Fabrication Drawings for review to the Company. No manufacturing of ductwork shall proceed until the above review has been completed by the Company. The Topsides Contractor, prior to the commencement of drawing work shall review all structural, architectural and services layouts and base their. Fabrication Drawings on the Company’s latest HVAC General Arrangement layouts. Fabrication Drawings shall contain, but not be limited to the following information.

6.0 GENERAL STANDARDS
6.1
The HVAC Ductwork and associated fittings shall comply with the following requirements. General Requirements All internal and external ductwork, associated fittings, stiffners, supports etc. shall be manufactured in accordance with SMACNA equivalent standard as described below and as scheduled within Appendix A. The standards specified within SMACNA shall comply irrespective of material type or gauge scheduled in Appendix A of this specification. The HVAC Ductwork sizes stated on the HVAC General Arrangement layouts are nominal external dimensions, the only exclusion will be for HVAC Ductwork Spigots connecting Grilles and Diffusers where the sizes given will be clear inside duct dimensions. Straight sections of HVAC Ductwork shall be true rectangles and shall not be twisted or deformed. All standard fittings shall be provided in accordance with DW/144 or SMACNA and conforming with the same material standard as specified for the respective HVAC Distribution Ductwork, described below. All bolts, nuts and washers shall be manufactured from 316L Stainless Steel. Earth continuity of ductwork at flange joints between dissimilar materials, hangers and supports shall be provided with insulating sets to prevent galvanic corrosion. All earth continuity cabling from HVAC Ductwork and free issued items of equipment to the structure shall be carried out by the Topsides Contractor. Access panels, where shown on the HVAC General Arrangement layouts shall be of the proprietary type and conform to the same material and construction standards of the respective ductwork they are installed within. Panels shall be 450mm x 400mm clear opening where possible, be of the removable type and be complete with a safety edge sealing strip to protect personnel from the cut steel edges.

The frame shall be made airtight by means of a 3.0mm thick gasket conforming to BS476 : Part 7. Access panels within thermal or fire rated insulated ductwork shall be of double skin insulated construction. Access panels within fire rated ductwork shall be installed to maintain the fire rating of the ductwork. Inspection openings shall be provided, where required with an independent air tight cover plate. The cover plate shall be jointed to the opening surround with a compound applied to the overlap and secured by means of a cross bar and screw or of a type where the opening cover plate is bolted to the ductwork or flanged frame. All flanges shall be drilled in accordance with the Company’s HVAC Standard Drilling Detail drawings, referenced above. Shoes holding grilles and diffusers shall have a 32.0mm self-flange and shall be site drilled to suit the grille/diffuser manufacturers requirements. 13.0mm test holes complete with plugs shall be provided where required within the ductwork to allow readings to be taken for system commissioning and balancing. Test holes shall be located in accordance with the requirements of the BSRIA manual Commissioning of Air Systems in Buildings AG3/89 at the following locations:a) b) c)
At fan inlets and outlets in the longest straight section of the HVAC Ductwork. At air heating coils both before and after the coil. On the downstream side of volume control dampers in the longest straight sections of the HVAC Ductwork
Test holes in fire rated ductwork shall be achieved with 25.0mm half sockets welded to the ductwork, fitted with screwed metal plugs. CE Marking The Supplier shall be responsible for demonstrating compliance with all legislation, regulations and ‘CE’ marking. All free issue equipment provided by the Purchaser will be supplied with relevant CE certification. This information will be passed to the Supplier to enable the Supplier to group all individual items as part of complete units, for ‘CE’ marking purposes. The Supplier shall ensure that any grouping for ‘CE’ marking purposes does not have a detrimental impact on the life cycle inspection and maintenance of an individual item of equipment within a group e.g. increased testing, additional maintenance costs etc.

BP ANDREW AREA DEVELOPMENT FEED. 37AND-F041G7001-M-SE-0000-000 – LER DUCKWORK HVAC Ductwork Material Thickness Material Thickness of HVAC Ductwork shall be as stated upon the Company’s HVAC General Arrangement layouts and as scheduled within Appendix A attached. Hangers and Supports Hangers and supports shall not exceed a maximum spacing of 2500mm. The Topsides Contractor shall be responsible for the co-ordination of the HVAC Ductwork hangers and supports with all other services e.g. piping routes, cable racks and supports etc. HVAC Ductwork hangers and supports shall be installed to provide rigid support of each ductwork distribution system. Hangers and supports shall be located not to restrict access for installation and maintenance of any items of major equipment. Internal HVAC Ductwork hangers and supports shall be of a proprietary support of composite bolted construction, ‘Unistrut’ type or equal and approved by the Company. The Topsides Contractor shall be responsible for the co-ordination and installation of all internal ductwork hangers and supports. External HVAC hangers and supports shall be designed and co-ordinated by the Company and manufactured and installed by the Topside Contractor. The Topsides Contractor shall comply with the operation and transportation loads of the installed HVAC Ductwork distribution and free issued items of equipment.
7.0 DUCTWORK CONSTRUCTION All internal and external ductwork and associated fittings shall be manufactured from grade 2, 316L stainless steel to BS 1449 1991 throughout. All square, internal and rectangular lightweight ductwork up to 0.90mm thick shall have "Pittsburgh Lock" or "Grooved Seam “ longitudinal seam joints typically as Figures 1 shown in Appendix B All joints shall be tightly formed and sealed with a suitable sealant during manufacture. Square and rectangular ductwork from 2.0mm thick and above shall be fully welded along the complete seam. Joints and stiffeners for rectangular HVAC Ductwork shall be manufactured from stainless steel angle sections, for details see Appendix A attached.

Gaskets shall be of the non-toxic, non-flammable, vermin proof having a shore hardness between 450 and 550 on the OO scale and complying to BS 476 parts 4 & 7.
8.0 DUCTWORK LEAKAGE TESTS The HVAC Ductwork leakage test shall be performed on the completed system. Testing procedures shall be in accordance with DW /143. Permissible air leakage rate for class B ductwork having a maximum positive static pressure limit of 1000 Pa and a maximum negative static pressure limit of 750 Pa shall be 0.009 x p 0.65 litres per second per square metre of duct surface area. The duration of any test shall not be less than 15 minutes. The test equipment certified for accuracy shall be as indicated in fig. 2 of DW 143. After successful completion of the tests, an air leakage test sheet shall be provided in accordance with the Specimen of air leakage test sheet page 7 within DW /143. Table 17.

The symbols shall be located on the surface which faces the position of normal access to the completed installation. The symbols shall not be hidden from view by structural members, other ducts, plant or other service distribution systems. The symbols shall be located where there is adequate natural or artificial light. Symbols shall be placed at any service and access points to the distribution system including areas where the distribution system is reduced to a single duct. Symbols shall be located frequently enough to avoid the necessity for duct routes to be traced back The colour coding shall be as described within the following table. The direction of airflow shall be indicated by an equilateral triangle with one apex pointing in the direction of airflow in an easily visible position. The triangle size shall be 150mm length of side. It will only be necessary to provide the colour symbol. Symbol triangles shall be secured by using self adhesive plastic or transfer with water soluble backing. The surface on which the symbols are to be fixed shall be smooth and clean. The adhesion shall not deteriorate due to the surrounding atmosphere to ensure that the symbols are permanently fixed. Purpose made plastic or metal labels may be used as an alternative to the self adhesive plastic or transfers.
DUCTWORK INSULATION Insulation requirements will be as indicated on the HVAC General Arrangement Drawings. The following abbreviations will be used within the HVAC General Arrangement layouts to identify the type and function of the respective insulation. HC

Fire Rated Ductwork, Un-insulated Mechanical Protection of Ductwork.
10.1 Material Selection All insulation shall be resin bonded, foil faced mineral wool complying fully with the relevant parts of BS 3958 and BS 5422. Thermal insulation shall be of the non-combustible, free from toxic fumes and smoke when heated, inorganic and fungal resistant, non-hygroscopic, low chloride content and asbestos free. All insulation applied to the outside surfaces of ducting shall be purchased with a factory applied single side facing of aluminium foil laminate having a water vapour permeance of 0.001 g/s MN. The insulation facings shall have a minimum of Class 0 fire resistance surface to BS 476: Part 6 (Fire propagation test) and Class 1 surface spread of flame to BS 476: Part 7. The types and properties of the insulation shall be as scheduled below.

10.3 Insulation Protection 0.70mm thick stainless steel protective cladding secured with self tapping screws shall be installed around all external insulation, insulation within plant and low level ductwork to a height of two metres (2.0M) finished floor level. Cladding required to protect the insulation from environmental and mechanical damage. Joints shall overlap and be sealed all as described below.
10.4 Insulation Procedures Prior to applying insulation the surface of the stainless steel ductwork shall be painted to prevent chemical reaction between surfaces. The following methods of securing the insulation to the HVAC Ductwork shall be used. a) b) c) d) e)
Wire mesh to secure the insulation shall be 1.2mm stainless steel. Welded pins, stick pins and spring washers. Screw fasteners shall be self-tapping stainless steel type Non-flammable adhesive solutions as recommended by the insulation manufacturer shall be used. The adhesive shall not emit toxic fumes or smoke when heated. Joint sealant tape shall be 100mm wide self adhesive aluminium foil of a type and suitable thickness recommended by the insulation manufacture.
10.4.1 Insulation Type HC (Heat Conservation) All insulation shall be applied ensuring close contact with the ductwork surface to which it is attached and all joints sealed. The insulation shall be fixed to the ducts using two way contact adhesive solution and double pronged self adhesive pins. Slabs of insulation shall be further secured by means of stainless steel bands set at centres not greater than 230mm. All joints and overlaps shall be securely taped and sealed to maintain a vapour barrier. Duct supports shall be provided with suitably sized (to match thickness of insulation) non-compressive, load bearing non-hygroscopic thermal inserts and the applied insulation shall be abutted to these. Longitudinal joints shall be staggered on large size ducting. All joints, overlaps, abutments, cut or exposed edges and penetrations of the foil facing shall be securely taped and sealed to maintain the integrity of the insulation system. High level unclad insulation only shall be further secured with wrapping the whole with galvanised wire mesh netting retained by wire lacing.

BP ANDREW AREA DEVELOPMENT FEED. 37AND-F041G7001-M-SE-0000-000 – LER DUCKWORK Where irregular areas and spaces occur which cannot be insulated with the preformed insulation slabs, a mixture of granulated material (with the same thermal conductivity) and adhesive shall be used. Access doors shall be double skin construction incorporating thermal insulation and raised fixing frame. (If applicable) Where insulation would otherwise conceal inspection openings, test holes, damper quadrants, linkages, labels and instrumentation fittings, the insulation shall be shaped and cut to allow full access and taped or sealed to prevent fibre loss. Where insulation has protective cladding requirements, the stainless steel cladding covering the thermal insulation shall be installed with seams and laps arranged to shed water. All joints in the cladding shall have a lap of 75 mm minimum and sealed with non-setting mastic. The covering shall be secured with stainless steel selftapping screws at 150mm pitch. A continuous vapour barrier is required on all insulated metalwork including flanges and supports such that cold bridges are eliminated and interstitial condensation is prevented. The insulation shall be carried over all flanges and be provided with insulated covers for access to duct mounted equipment and ancillaries. Vapour barriers shall be factory applied aluminium foil on a polyvinyl acetate coating applied to the surface of the insulation. Vapour barriers shall form a complete water tight seal around penetrations. Aluminium tape shall form the final seal around all insulation joints.
10.4.2 Insulation Type Code A60 or H60 (Fire Protection) All insulation shall be as described above for the (HC) insulation. In addition to the ducts the insulation shall be applied to all fire dampers and fire rated penetrations in an approved method to meet the required certified fire rating.
10.5 Insulation Repair Any insulation repairs necessary shall be made in such a manner to ensure the integrity of the insulation properties and vapour barriers, where included, are not impaired. The damaged insulation shall be trimmed back to the undamaged section in order that preformed regular shaped insulation made from an identical material to the original material, cut to the required size, can be refitted in the same manner as the original insulation was fitted.
