1. What will happen if you import an ETABS model into a F2k file with the slab surface loads as LOAD sets and not individual surface loads?
Part where loads are applied individually
Part where loads are applied as Load Sets.
Upon exporting the ETBAS model to f2k file, part where loads are applied as individual load patterns were included in the exported file, however, on those that were loaded with load sets, remain unloaded in the f2k file. 2. Therefore, we need to convert load sets from ETABS into individual load patterns before exporting it to an F2k file.
3. From Etabs, Click>Display> Show Tables>Tables>Loads>Applied Loads>Shell Loads-Uniform Load Sets
4. A table will appear at the bottom of your screen. Right click>Export to Excel.
5. So basically, from Columns A-F were the original excel file you will get directly from ETABS. In Column O I just made a formula that will make the same output as the syntax of ETABS $ET file. (Please see attached excel)
6. Go back to your ETABS model. Save your model with another file name. Go to Define>Shell Uniform Load Sets. Delete all Load Sets. If you try to view the surface loads on your model, slabs loaded with load sets were now unloaded. Then Click Save.
After deleting load sets
7. Go to the location of your ETABS file. Look for the $ET file of your model. Make a copy.
8. Open the copy of your $ET file, look for areaload . You will now be transferred to the Part of the slab area loads. From your excel earlier, copy all text from column O and paste it on the row below the Shell object loads . Save. “

9. Open a new ETABS file. Click File>Import> ETABS .e2k Text File. Select the copy of your $et file that we have modified earlier.
10. NEW ETABS MODEL WITH LOADSETS CONVERTED TO INDIVIDUAL LOAD PATTERNS.
11. LOAD COMBINATIONS WITH TEMPERATURE CONTOUR (LOADSETS vs SEPARATE LOAD PATTERN SLAB LOADS)
ETABS with LOAD SET SLAB LOADS
ETABS with CONVERTED LOAD SET SLAB LOADS TO INDIVIDUAL LOAD PATTERNS
