Feeders and Jumpers
The feeders and jumpers are used to connect the antenna to the base station. They are of three types: 1/2" jumper, 7/8" feeder, and 5/4" feeder. • The jumper is supple but has a high loss. It is used in short-distance cabling between the TMA and the antenna and between the TMA and the feeder. • The feeder is rigid but has a low loss. It is used in long-distance cabling. Figure 1 shows the locations of the feeder and jumpers in the antenna system of a base station. Figure 1 Cable connection in the antenna system

If the distance between the antenna and the base station is shorter than 14 m [45.92 ft], you may use the jumper to connect the antenna and the base station. In this case, the antenna and the base station can be connected by the 1/2" jumper. • Feeder There are two types of feeders: 7/8" and 5/4".
