You Replenish My Soul Think of the night as the juice that powers your soul. Spiritually, this is the time you get into the zone.

Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed. And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station. [Sūrat’l-Isrā: 78-79]

You Make Sleep Ultimately Boring Now’s the time to buckle up and go for gold. Allāh (swt) says the Muttaqūn will be among gardens and springs. And who are the Muttaqūn?
They used to sleep but little of the night, And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness [Sūrat’l-Dhāriyāt: 17-18]
The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “The best of prayers, after those prescribed, are those prayed in the depth of the night.” [Muslim/Ahmad]

You Light Up My After-Life We know the bed can be quite inviting and painful to walk away from. That’s exactly why it’s ultimately so rewarding. Check out how Allāh (swt) describes that reward.

And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do. [Sūrat’l-Sajdah: 16-17]
The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “O people! Spread (the greeting of) salām, provide food (to the needy), and pray at night while the people are asleep – you would then enter Jannah with peace.” [Tirmidhi]
4. You Welcome My Family Too Team up with a family member to fend off sleep. Strength is in numbers after all. The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

7 “May Allāh have mercy on a man who wakes up at night, prays, and wakes his wife to pray; and if she refuses, he sprinkles water on her face. And may Allāh have mercy on a woman who wakes up at night, prays, and wakes her husband to pray; and if he refuses, she sprinkles water on his face.” [Abu Dāwūd]
Key word here is “sprinkle” not “flood”.
5. You’re Simply Not of This World It’s well known that the third part of the night is one of the most amazing times to make du‘ā. So it serves as a reminder as to how truly out-of-this-world incredibly astonishingly amazing it really is. The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Our Lord (swt) descends every night to the lowest heaven, when only one third of the night has remained. He says, “Who would invoke Me, so that I would answer him? Who would ask Me, so that I would give him? Who would seek My forgiveness, so that I would forgive him.” [Muslim]
As you know, another similar time is when you break your fast. So make du‘ā then that Allāh grants you the ability to wake up in the third part of the night.

You
Bring Out the Best in Me
It’s the month of Qur’ān so of course your tongue should also be reciting its words. But what about du‘ā and ṣalāh? Combine all three! Recite in ṣalāh and make du‘ā in sujūd. The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whoever prays qiyām reciting 10 verses, he will not be recorded among the negligent. Whoever prays qiyām reciting 100 verses, he will be recorded among the devout. And whoever prays qiyām reciting 1000 verses, he will be recorded among those with multitude of good deeds.” [Abu Dāwūd]

Tips to Manage the Night
Long days and short nights make for quite the tricky Ramaḍān, especially for some of us with less than 6 hours of evening. Here are some tips to manage your love for Ramaḍān nights despite their short presence.
1.
Month of Power … Naps You’ll have to master the power nap for a re-energizing boost throughout your day and night. Immediately after tarāwīḥ rest for 2-3 hours Wake up an hour before Fajr for 2 (or more) rakʿahs and suḥūr After Fajr, rest again before heading off to work (if you can, recite a few verses of Qur’ān even from bed) Rest your body for 20-30 min during your lunch hour. Find a quiet place to lie down and close your eyes. Sleep for 1-2 hours when you return home
A lot of us can’t fall asleep quickly enough to take advantage of a 2hour nap. That’s ok. Sometimes all your body needs is the rest and not the sleep.

10 Lie down, close your eyes, and just relax. That will doze you off quicker than panicking about trying to maximize on your 2 hours.
2.
Drop the Caffeine Replace caffeine (false energizer) with your energizing power naps. Before tarāwīḥ, eat foods that are known to rejuvenate:
3.
Fruits (apples, kale, bananas, etc) Proteins (eggs, yogurts, fish, beans, etc) Honey Whole grains Ice cold water Ginger tea
Eat Less and
Drink
Water
Eat lighter foods that will replenish, refresh and energize. Don’t sleep with a full stomach; eat light so you’ll be able to wake up again. Drink 2-4 cups of water before bed. Even if your alarm fails you, your bladder won’t.

4. Recite Adhkār Recite your adhkār before sleeping and upon waking up. This will help you to fall asleep AND wake up easily.
5. Sleep in a State of Purity Make your wuḍū’ before sleeping. Not only will you sleep relaxed and be protected while you sleep… it’s the Sunnah!
6.
Buddy Up Alternate responsibility for who will wake the other up. When you feel responsible for somebody else, suddenly you’re keener on waking up.
7.
Cut
Bedtime Facebook
We’re all guilty of checking Facebook from bed. That’s a no-no.
facebook.com/MiskAcademy
12 Take phones and laptops out of your bedroom so your short sleep isn’t interrupted or distracted by the social media world.
8.
Don’t Linger in Bed Once you’re awake, it’s easy to just linger in bed until you gather enough might to get up. Get in the habit to almost pounce off your bed with all the energy of a 2-year old. That’ll do it.
9.
Take it Easy Do what is sustainable and not what is stressful. Do only what your body can handle consistently for 30 days. Only you know what that is to avoid burning out in the first week.
10. Intention and Dua No action is complete without strong intention to fulfill it. And no goal is achieved without the help of Allāh. Make sincere du‘ā for His help in making you the best version you can be this Ramaḍān.

Ramaḍān is the month of Qur’ān. A lot of us have the goal to finish the Qur’ān in one month at a pace of a Juz a day. That’s great. But that also means for many of us, we’re speed reading without letting the words enter our hearts.
Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts? [Sūrat Muhammad: 24]
The Prophet’s character (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was described as the Qur’ān walking on Earth. He was the manifestation of Qur’ān because he ACTED upon the Qur’ān. Join
