INTRODUCTION
In ammo ammoni niaa-ni nitr troge ogen n test test,, ammo ammoni niaa comp compoun ounds ds comb combin inee with with chlor chlorin inee to form form monochloride. Monochloride reacts with salicylate to form -aminosalicylate. The aminosalicylate is o!idi"ed in the presence of a sodium nitroprusside catalyst to form a blue-colored compound. The blue color is mas#ed by the yellow color from the e!cess reagent present to gi$e a final green-colored solution. Test results are measured at % nm. Meanwhile, in nitrate-nitrogen nitrate-nitrogen test, cadmium metal metal reduces nitrates in the the sample to nitr nitrit ite. e. The The nitr nitrit itee ion ion reac reacts ts in an acidi acidicc medi medium um with with sulf sulfan anil ilic ic acid acid to form form an intermediate dia"onium salt. The salt couples with gentisic acid to form an amber colored solution. Test results are measured at &'( nm.
