History The original Rockwell was produced by the Inland typefoundry in 1910, which issued it as Litho Antique; American Type Founders revived the face in the 1920s, with Morris Fuller Benton cutting several new weights. The Monotype Corporation produced its version of Rockwell in 1934; unfortunately, some of the literature erroneously referred to it as Stymie Bold, thereby creating confusion that still exists today. Rockwell is a geometric slab serif design, a strong display face for headlines and posters; it is also legible in short text blocks. Rockwell is a distinctive version of a geometric slab serif design, which has retained its popularity since its appearance in the 1930's. Th e slab serifs, or Egyptians, originated in the nineteenth century when they were used principally for display work. Rockwell Rockwell is notable for its judiciously clipped slab serifs, and is given a particular sparkle by means of its angular terminals. In more recent years this style of typeface has been increasingly used for text setting where their even colour and visu al impact can be fully exploited.

Rockwell font
Rockwell is geometric, its upper- and lowercase O more of a circle than an ellipse. A serif at the apex of uppercase A is distinct. The lowercase a is two-story, somewhat incongruous for a geometrically drawn typeface.Theserifs are about as thick as the main strokes in every letter. This makes it useful primarily for decorative purposes and headlines less than long text bodies.

face Rock well, a slab serif face based on the neo-grot es ue model.
The distinct charact eristics of Rock well are the serif at the apex of the uppercase A and the equal cont rast of the st rokes. The serif s are also equal in weight t o the st rokes, which makes Rock well primarily a display t ypeface, as the heavy serif s int erfere with readabilit y at smaller sizes.
