People Profile What's New In This Guide

Overview of the People Profile
People Profile is the most recent version of the user interface for Employee Profile and for SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central. Upgrading to People Profile retains all of your existing profile data and nearly all of the legacy profile functionality, with a more compelling and consistent user experience, based on SAP Fiori design principles.
Introduction With the People Profile, you can view the entire profile and take immediate action on one simple, unified page. All of the information that was previously displayed on many different pages and tabs is now gathered together on a single profile page that can be read at a glance. You can quickly find the most important or most recent information and drill down to see more detail when needed. And the responsive Fiori design means that the People Profile UI adjusts its layout to fit your device, for optimal viewing on desktop, tablet, or smartphone. People Profile comes with a new admin user experience too. As an administrator, you can also use a convenient new drag-and-drop configuration tool to set up the employee profile for your company. You can select which data fields to display in the profile page header and control visibility of all employee data with role-based permissions. The People Profile now supports all major functionality available in earlier versions of the Employee Profile and Employee Central, along with a growing number of unique new capabilities.
Who Should Use This Guide This document is intended for company administrators who are considering an upgrade to People Profile, or who already have had it enabled in their instance and wish to understand the resulting changes and new functionality. It does not describe everything required to implement the Employee Profile from scratch, for new customers.
Prerequisites In order to use People Profile, you must first have the following prerequisite features enabled in your system. Table 6: Prerequisite
Description

Enabling People Profile
You can enable the People Profile in the Upgrade Center.
Context Note To enable the new home page, you need to have permission to access to the Upgrade Center. If you do not have this permission, please contact SuccessFactors to have the new home page enabled in your instance.
Procedure 1. Go to
Admin Center
Upgrade Center
and find the People Profile upgrade.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade.
Results The People Profile is visible immediately, according to your exising Employee Views permission settings in rolebased permissions.
Note Your existing v12 profile configuration settings are retained and applied to the new People Profile. However, in most cases, these legacy settings do not result in an optimal layout on the People Profile and it is likely that you will need to adjust the layout using the Configure People Profile admin tool for a better user experience. You can restore your legacy v12 profile settings during the first ten days following the upgrade by clicking Undo in the Upgrade Center. After that point, reverting to the v12 profile requires a SuccessFactors engagement.

Other Solutions Requiring the People Profile As the latest version of the employee profile UI, People Profile is also a prerequisite for a growing number of new SAP SuccessFactors solutions, including: ● Apprentice Management ● Contingent Workforce Management
Functionality Not Supported in the People Profile The People Profile does not support the following legacy features: ● A separate "public profile" page (which is no longer needed in the new designe) ● The Configure Employee Files admin tool (which is replaced by a new tool when People Profile is enabled) ● V11-only features, like the "experience snapshot" portlet and external photo URLs (which have been phased out and were unsupported in the v12 profile as well).
3.1
New User Experience
3.1.1 New One-Page Design People Profile uses a simple, modern visual design that consolidates all of the employee profile on one easy-toread, scrolling page. People Profile consolidates on a single page all of the profile information and functionality that was previously displayed on multiple pages or tabs in earlier versions. All the same information and functionality that was available in the v12 profile is supported in People Profile, but with a new visual design. The new People Profile page is organized into sections, subsections, and blocks. Related information is grouped together in "blocks" and appears directly on the page background, rather than in "portlets" as in earlier versions. Details are hidden at first view, to reduce clutter and make the page easier to scan quickly. You can expand or collapse subsections and blocks to show or hide details as needed. An example is shown below:

3.1.2 New User Experience for Employee Central The new People Profile user interface and user experience is now available for use with Employee Central. People Profile provides an all-new user experience for Employee Central. On People Profile, you can access existing Employee Central functionality, such as employee self-service (ESS), manager self-service (MSS), and spot bonus. You can add and edit an employee's personal, employment, and compensation information, or view the effective-dated change history. People Profile What Is New in the People Profile

If you are using the action search feature, you can even take some actions directly from the global search box, without ever leaving your current page. New blocks on the profile allow you to request and manage time off, or view information from EC Payroll. Administrators can also use a new drag-and-drop configuration tool to adjust the layout of the page or add and remove information. Some example screenshots are shown below.

3.1.3 New Profile Header The People Profile includes a configurable page header that displays the profile photo and basic information about an employee. The page header replaces the separate "public profile" page used in the .V12 Profile The People Profile header displays all of the employee data and other content, such as photos and introductory video, that were previously shown on the "public profile" page of the v12 profile. When you first navigate to the page, the fully expanded header appears at the top of the page, as shown here:
As you scroll down the page, the header then reduces into a collapsed state and sticks to the top of the page, for easier navigation, as shown here:
3.1.4 New Information Blocks Information on the People Profile is grouped together in "blocks" that can be added to any section or subsection of the profile. In most cases, information blocks on the People Profile correspond to "portlets" used in previous versions and display exactly the same data. In some cases, information blocks do not corrrespond to portlets, but to entirely separate pages, or "employee views," ued in earlier versions. For example, Employee Profile information such as notes, performance history, or compensation statements were previously displayed as separate pages, but on the People Profile, they are all displayed as blocks. Likewise, some Employee Central features, such as Time Off and Payroll, were previously displayed as separate pages and are now displayed as blocks. Lastly, some blocks are new, don't correspond to any legacy portlet or page, and are only available on the People Profile.

3.1.5 New Editing Experience You can edit information in the People Profile using new editing dialog windows. There is no change to editing functionality, only to visual design and user experience. Two examples are shown below:
Figure 1: Editing user information
Figure 2: Editing Background Information
3.1.6 Responsive Display on Mobile Browsers People Profile uses a "responsive" design, which optimizes the page layout based on the available display size, providing a better user experience on a tablet or smartphone. The layout of sections, subsections, and blocks on the People Profile automatically adjust to for optimal viewing, depending on the size of the screen on your device. The responsive interface also adjusts to fit the size of your browser window when you resize it on a desktop.

New Functionality
3.2.1 Adding and Editing Goals on the People Profile You can now view and edit performance and development goals, or attach or remove learning activities, on the People Profile. Like the v12 profile, you can view performance and development goals on the People Profile. Unlike the v12 profile, however, you can also create and edit goals on the People Profile. You can also add or remove learning activities from SAP SuccessFactors Learning. Visibility of performance and development goals on the People Profile follows the same permissions used in the v12 profile. That is, the Goals and Development blocks reflect both field-level permissions and permissions to view the relevant performance or development plan as a whole. You can also select, on your development plan, which development goals you want to display in the Development block on your profile. Only goals you have flagged will be displayed. Development goals that you create on the People Profile itself are assumed to be visible there by default.

3.2.2 Viewing Your Pending Requests with People Profile With People Profile enabled, the Pending Requests page in Employee Central is accessed using the employee quickcard or action search, by default. As an administrator, you can also add links to the Pending Requests page in other places, using the Configure Custom Navigation tool. This is a change from the previous version, in which Pending Requests were always accessed via the employee profile.
Accessing Pending Requests via the Quickcard You can access pending requests related to a specific employee via their employee quickcard.
Accessing Pending Requests via Action Search If you have the action search feature enabled in you instance, you can access all of your pending requests by entering a search term, such as pending in the global search box and selecting View my pending requests.

3.2.3 Leave of Absence Shown in User Interface You can now see an employee's leave-of-absence on the People Profile, employee quickcard, and org chart. The People Profile header indicates when an employee is on leave, along with the start and end dates of the absence, as shown here:
The leave-of-absence is also indicated on the org chart and the employee quickcard, as shown here:

New Administration Options
3.3.1 New Profile Configuration Tool You can manage the content and layout of People Profile using a new configuration toos in the Admin Center. The new Configure People Profile admin tool supports all of the functionality available in the previous profile configuration tool, but with a much improved user experience. You can now use an easy, drag-and-drop interface to add sections, subsections, and information blocks to the profile. You can also use it to configure other "general settings" that were available in the previous admin tool, such as the ability to add introductory text or video, manage background images, add profile completion reminders, and configure ratings data settings.
Related Information Configuring Sections, Subsections, and Blocks [page 33]
3.3.2 Role-based Display of Information People Profile uses role-based permissions to control visibility of information and some of these controls may be new to you, depending on your previous configuration. Most employee data was already permission-controlled in earlier versions of the UI. However, People Profile introduces additional controls if you were previously using the "public profile" page. In the earlier version of the UI, the public profile does NOT have permission-control some employee data. The profile photo and some basic user information, such as name, phone, and location, are visible to all users with access to the public profile page. However, on the People Profile, the profile header replaces the "public profile" and displays all of the same information. You can now control the ability to view and edit this information, including the photo, using role-based permissions.
3.3.3 New Profile Header Configuration Options You can configure the fields to display in the profile header, at the top of the People Profile page. In addition to role-based permission control, you can also use the new Configure Header Fields settings to control what user information to display in the profile header for your company. You can show or hide any of the standard user information fields, such as job title, time zone, or location, or you can add up to three other custom header fields. You can also show or hide the profile photo. This information was previously displayed on the "public profile" page in the v12 profile, which was not configurable on the field level and not fully controlled by role-based permissions. On the People Profile, you can now use a People Profile What Is New in the People Profile

combination of header configuration and role-based permissions to control exactly what is visible in the profile header to people in any given role or population.
3.3.4 Ability to Choose the Name Format Displayed on the Profile You can now select one of the name formats configured in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central to display on the People Profile. Using the Manage People Profile admin tool, you can choose any one name format to use in various parts of the UI, including the People Profile page header and the "people picker" dropdown menu, as well as in the global people search box and employee directory. Previously, name formats configure in Employee Central were only displayed on the Personal Information page and weren't reflected elsewhere in the UI.

What Is Not Supported by the People Profile
The People Profile supports most, but not all, functionality available in the previous version, the V12 Profile. Unsupported functionality may have been removed intentionally because it is no longer needed in the new design or was not widely used, or it may be a known limitation that has not yet been added to the People Profile but could be considered in a future enhancement.

Public Profile
People Profile does not have a separate "public profile" page or view. This page is removed and is replaced with the new, configurable profile header, which displays the same informa tion.
"Expressive" versus "Standard" layout
People Profile does not allow users to select different profile layouts. Features previously included only in the "expressive" layout are now a standard part of the profile header.
Configure Employee Files tool
The legacy tool is removed and replaced with the new Configure People Profile tool.
Internal Job History portlet
People Profile does not use the Internal Job History portlet to display information from Employee Central. On the v12 profile, this portlet was used to display job history data from Em ployee Central on other profile pages. Because all profile infor mation is now displayed on one page, this portlet is no longer necessary.

Known Functional Limitations of People Profile
The following describes known gaps and functional limitations in People Profile, as compared to earlier versions of Employee Profile and Employee Central. People Profile supports all major functionality available in the v12 Profile, with the following limitations: ● People Profile does not support full text replacement at this time. Some text strings in the UI cannot be changed or replaced, neither with the self-service text replacement admin tool nor with a SuccessFactors engagement, using custom text replacement (3-tier architecture). ● People Profile does not display default portlet help for Employee Central blocks at this time. Currently, People Profile only supports custom help text that you provide. If you are already using custom help text in Employee Central with the V12 Profile, there is no change and your custom help test will still appear in People Profile. Otherwise, you should be aware that portlet help text will disappear in Employee Central following the upgrade to People Profile and, to add it back, you need to create and add custom text. What You Need to Do
6.1
How to Upgrade to People Profile
To upgrade your existing Employee Profile to the new People Profile, go through the following steps.. Table 9: Step
Description
1. Enable People Profile
You can enable People Profile in the Upgrade Center. For more information, see Enabling People Profile [page 9].
2. Configure new profile layout
If you upgraded using the Upgrade Center, your existing v12 profile configura tions are retained. However, in most cases, the old configuration settings are not ideal in the new layout. It is likely that we will need to adjust the layout of the profile, using the new Configure People Profile configuration tool. If you did not use the Upgrade Center, your existing settings are not retained and you need to manually set up the new profile from scratch, using the new configuration tool. For more information, see Overview of Configuration Tool [page 31].
3. Configure profile header
The profile header replaces the "public profile" in the previous version. You can set up the profile header using the new Configure People Profile admin tool and role-based permissions. If you were previously using the "public profile" page, most functionality in the page header will be familiar to you and your existing settings are retained. You only need to adjust configuration if desired.. If you were NOT previously using the "public profile", new functionality is avail able to you that may be unfamiliar. You may choose to turn on these features if desired. For more information, see the Public Profile Administration Guide on the SAP Help Portal here.
4. Grant "Employee View" permissions
Again, if you used the Upgrade Center, your existing permission settings are retained. However, you may need to grant some "employee view" permissions in role-based permissions in order to make certain profile sections or blocks visible to end-users on the People Profile. Even after they are set up in the configuration tool, these sections and blocks are not visible in the UI until you grant the appropriate "employee view" per missions. For more information, see Granting Employee Views Permission [page 28].

Description
Ensure display of profile photos
People Profile introduces the ability to control of profile photo visibility. Previ ously, it was not possible to hide the photo in public profile. Therefore, it's possible that have not yet granted photo permissions in your instance. You should confirm that profile photos are visible on the profile as desired. People Profile displays the profile photo according to the "view" permission in role-based permissions (RBP). If you find that photos are not visible after the upgrade, you may need to grant the "view photo" permission in RBP. For more information, see Controlling Visibility of Photos [page 29].
Localize profile content
If you are using People Profile in multiple languages, you need to add transla tions of certain text used in the profile. You can add translations of section ti tles, subsection titles, block titles, and block descriptions. For more information, see Localizing the People Profile [page 50].

Setting Up the People Profile
7.1
Setting Up Permissions
7.1.1 Granting Permission to Access People Profile People Profile uses the same access permission as earlier versions of the employee profile.
Context There is no change to the permission for accessing the employee profile from different parts of the applicaiton. People Profile is visible to users who have been granted the existing Live Profile Access permission. To grant Live Profile Access permission, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Go to Admin Tools permission.
Manage Permission Roles
and select the role to which you want to grant this
2. Select the General User Permission tab, in the User Permissions section. 3. Select the Live Profile Access permission. 4. Click Done to save the changes.
7.1.2 Granting Employee Views Permission People Profile uses the existing Employee Views permissions to control visiblity of profile sections and, in a few cases, blocks.
Context People Profile uses the same Employee Views permissions as the v12 profile. In the new UI, these permissions generally control visibility of sections. In the v12 profile UI, they controlled visibility of separate profile pages, such as the scorecard.
28
CUSTOMER
People Profile Setting Up the People Profile
In a few cases, these permissions control visibility of certain blocks on the People Profile. This is the case where information that was previously displayed on separate profile pages is now displayed as a block, such as notes.
Note There are not permissions to control visibility of subsections. Subsections are only used for visual organization of the page and do not contain any employee data, so they are not permission-controlled. To grant Employee Views permissions, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Go to Admin Tools permissions.
Manage Permission Roles
and select the role to which you want to grant these
2. Select the Employee Views tab, in the User Permissions section. 3. Select the employee views that you want to make visible to users in this role. 4. Click Done to save the changes.
7.1.3 Granting Employee Data Permissions People Profile uses the same view permissions as earlier versions of the employee profile and other parts of the SuccessFactors application. There is no change to the permissions for viewing employee data. In most cases, visibility of employee data is controlled by role-based permissions, on the Employee Data tab. Some data may be controlled by other role-based permissions. For more information, please refer to the Role-Based Permissions Administration Guide on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/hr_foundation/#section2.
7.1.4 Controlling Visibility of Photos You can control the visibility of profile photos on the People Profile using role-based permissions.
Context Role-based permissions treat the profile photo like any other employee data field, such as the employee's job title or location. As with other data fields on the profile, you can control visibility of the profile photo in the header in two ways. You can make the photo, or any other data field, visible to all users in the profile header, using the profile configuration tool. Or you can control who can and cannot see photos using role-based permissions. People Profile Setting Up the People Profile
CUSTOMER
29
If you want to remove the photo from the header entirely, for all users, you can do by unchecking the Photo checkbox in the Configure Header Fields dialog.
Note Because the role-based "view" permission for photos was not used by earlier versions of the UI, it is possible that you are accustomed to seeing the photo on the employee profile, even though this permission is not properly granted in your system. If you find that profile photos disappear from the UI when People Profile is enabled, you should be able to make them visible again by granting the "view" permission. To grant or remove permission to view the profile photo, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Go to Admin Tools permissions.
Manage Permission Roles
and select the role to which you want to grant these
2. Select the Employee Data tab, in the User Permissions section. 3. Select the "view" or "edit" permissions you want to grant to users in this role. 4. Click Done to save the changes.
7.2
Configuring People Profile
7.2.1 Understanding the Page Layout Before configuring the People Profile, you should understand the layout of the new People Profile page and the terminology used to refer to different parts of the user interface. The People Profile page is made up of the "profile header" and one or more profile "sections." Each section consists of one or more "subsections." Each subsection, in turn, consists of either one or two "blocks." Again, blocks usually correspond to the "portlets" used in earlier versions of the UI and display the same information. As with portlets, some blocks are pre-defined and are not configurable, such as the Succession block, while other blocks are customizable and allow you to configure which data to display, such as User Info or Background blocks. Most blocks take up half the width of a subsection, so, in most cases, you can fit two blocks in each subsection. Some blocks, such as Badges or Skills, take up the full width of the subsection, so, in these cases, the "block" and the "subsection" are effectively the same thing. The following image shows an example of the People Profile page. The profile header is at the top, with a blue background, followed by one section. The section contains two subsections of two blocks each.

CUSTOMER

The following image illustrates how the above profile is configured in the Configure People Profile admin tool. Note that although a new section called "Section 2" has been added, it currently does not contain any information blocks and, therefore, does not yet appear in the profile UI above.
7.2.2 Overview of Configuration Tool You can manage the content and layout of the People Profile using the new Configure People Profile admin tool. This tool supports all of the functionality available in the previous Configure Employee Files tool, but with a much improved user experience. With it, you can add and configure the sections, subsections, and blocks you want to include on the People Profile and adjust the way these are laid out on the page. You can also configure the information that appears in the profile header, set the data source and date range for ratings data, and add localized translations of custom labels.

The image below shows the blank Configure Employee Files tool, as it would appear in a new instance, prior to making any configurations:
7.2.3 Granting Permission to Configure People Profile The new Configure People Profile admin tool uses the same administrator permission as as earlier versions of the employee profile.
Context To access the new configuration tool, you must be granted the Manage Employee Files permission. This is the same administrator permissions that controlled access to the previous Configure Employee Files tool. To grant this permission, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Go to Admin Tools permissions.
Manage Permission Roles
and select the role to which you want to grant these
2. Select the Manage System Properties tab, in the Administrator Permissions section. 3. Select the Manage Employee Files permission. 4. Click Done to save the changes.

CUSTOMER
People Profile Setting Up the People Profile
7.2.4 Configuring Sections, Subsections, and Blocks You can use the new Configure People Profile admin tool to create sections, subsections, and blocks on the new profile. For each section, you can add a section title and one or more subsections. For each subsection, you can add a subsection title and one or two information blocks. Again, the "blocks" used in People Profile correspond to the legacy "portlets" and, like portlets, some blocks are configurable and some are not. Once the profile is configured, visibility of sections is controlled by role-based permissions. You need to grant users permission to view the configured sections before they are visible in the user interface.
7.2.4.1
Adding a Section to the People Profile
You can organize information on the People Profile by grouping it into any number of custom sections.
Context Sections are visually separated, logical groupings of information on the profile. Each section consists of a section title and any number of subsections containing employee information. You can add any number of sections to the profile. To add a new section, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Go to
Admin Tools
Employee Files
Configure People Profile .
2. Select Add a new section.
3. Enter a section title in the Edit Section panel. (By default, new sections are called "Untitled".)

4. If desired, you can add translations of the new title in other languages, or you can apply your new title to all languages in the system. 5. If desired, you can uncheck the option to Show this section on the profile. If unchecked, the section configuration can still be saved and viewed in the Configure People Profile tool, but it is not visible in role-based permissions or in the user interface. This allows you to save configuration work in progress. 6. Click Save to save your changes. 7. Click the 'X' icon to proceed to adding blocks to the new section.
7.2.4.2
Adding Blocks to the People Profile
You can add any of the available information blocks to the profile by dragging it into the desired location.
Context Blocks on the People Profile usually correspond to the "portlets" used in earlier versions of the UI and generally display the same information. Some blocks, such as Notes or Time Off, correspond to "employee views" in earlier versions of the UI and were previously displayed as separate pages or tabs. You can add any number of blocks to a section, but each row of blocks is displayed in the UI as a separate subsection. To add a block to any section, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Navigate to the list of available blocks. ○ To add blocks to an existing section, go to and view Available Blocks
Admin Tools
Employee Files
Configure People Profile
○ To add blocks to a newly created section or subsection, click the 'X' icon in the corner of the Edit Section or Edit Subsection panel to return to Available Blocks.

2. Use the search box or scroll through the Available Blocks panel to find the block you want to add. 3. Drag the block from the Available Blocks panel to an existing subsection. If there is no space available in an existing subsection, drag the block in between two subsections and "hover" there for a split second and a new, blank subsection is added.
4. Complete the required configuration steps for the block, using the Edit Block panel.
Note Some blocks require additional configuration and some do not. If the block does not require any further configuration, you are not presented with the Edit Block panel and can proceed to Step 5. 5. If necessary, you can add translations of the title and description of customizable blocks. Unlike sections and subsections, you cannot apply the title or description to all languages in the system. 6. Continue adding blocks, as desired.

You can add as many blocks as you wish to a section. Subsections are automatically created as you add blocks, as shown here:
7. When you are finished adding blocks, click Save to save your changes.
Note There may be a slight delay when adding a block that creates a new subsection. Be sure to "hover" the block in the desired location until the new, blank subsection appears, before you "drop" the block into place, as shown here:
Note There are two columns of information within each subsection. Most blocks are only one column wide, so you can fit two blocks in each subsection. Some blocks, such as the Badges block shown above, are two columns wide and occupy the entire subsection. In this case, you may want to make the Block title and Subsection titles the same. 8. Proceed to editing the subsections.

Editing an Existing Section or Block
You can edit an existing section or block after it has been created.
Context To do this, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Click the relevant section or block in the layout preview of the Configure People Profile admin tool. The selected section or block is then highlighted and the corresponding Edit Section or Edit Block panel is displayed next to the preview area. 2. Edit the appropriate fields or translations. Check or uncheck the Show this subsection on the profile setting, as appropriate. 3. Click Save to save your changes.
7.2.4.4
Editing a Subsection
You can edit existing subsections, but you do not need to create them. Subsections are created automatically as you add blocks to the profile.
Context Subsections are automatically created, as needed, when you add blocks to a section. If you try to add a new block to an existing subsection that is already full, a new subsection is created. You do not need to manually add a new subsection. A subsection is displayed as a row of one or two blocks, within a section of the People Profile. To edit an existing subsection, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Locate the subsection you want to edit in the layout preview. (By default, new subsections are called "Untitled".)
42

Making Saved Changes Visible on the People Profile
After saving your configurations, you may still need to take some steps in order to make the changes visible in the user interface. After you finish configuring your new sections, subsections, and blocks in the Configure People Profile admin tool, you still need to ensure that: ● The checkboxes to Show this section on the profile and Show this subsection on the profile are properly selected. If unchecked, the corresponding section or subsection is only visible in the configuration tool, not in the UI. ● Employee Views permissions are properly granted to the appropriate permission roles. You cannot see a section or block what is subject to this permission, unless it has been granted to you in role-based permissions.
7.2.5 Header Settings Header settings enable you to configure the appearance and functionality of the profile header. Header settings include existing functionality, available in the previous version of the configuration tool, and new functionality that is unique to People Profile, such as the ability to configure header fields. The profile header replaces the "public profile" page in the v12 profile UI. Therefore, all of the configuration options that were previously available on the Public Profile Setup configuration page are now included within the "header settings" of the Configure People Profile tool. You can also enable or disable the profile completion feature within the header settings. Finally, in People Profile, you can configure which employee data fields appear in the profile header, using the Configure Header Fields dialog. Previously, the same fields were displayed in the public profile, but were not configurable. This dialog is also accessed within the header settings..
7.2.5.1
Configuring Header Settings
Context The header of the People Profile contains functionality that was previously introduced in the v12 profile UI. Most header settings correspond to the configuration options previously available in the Public Profile Setup configuration page. They also include the existing "profile completion" settings.

7.2.5.2
Configuring Header Fields
You can use header settings to configure what employee data fields are displayed in the profile header. The Configure Header Fields dialog is used to configure the appearance of the profile header only. You can select the fields which are most useful and most relevant to your company and display them more prominently, at the top of the profile page. By default, the profile header contains the following basic employee information: photo, display name, username, title, department, division, location, time zone, local time, email, two selected phone numbers, and links to Facebook or LinkedIn. You can also add up to three other custom fields. Remember, all of this employee data is also controlled by role-based permissions. If the logged-in user doesn't have permission to view a particular field on a particular profile, it does not appear in the header. If you want to hide a particular field everywhere in the system, or if you want a particular field to be visible only to certain users and not to others, you can do that using role-based permissions.
Showing or Hiding the Profile Photo in the Header The profile photo is configurable in the Configure Header Fields dialog, just like any other field. To show or hide the profile photo, complete the steps above and select or deselect the Photo checkbox, as appropriate. Remember that photo visibility can also be controlled by role-based permissions. If you want the photo to be visible to some users, but not to others, see Controlling Visibility of Photos [page 29] for more information.

You can also select which phone or fax numbers and which social network links to display. To select which fields to display in the profiel header, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Go to
Admin Tools
Configure People Profile
General Settings .
2. Select the Configure Header Fields link. 3. In the Configure Header Fields dialog, select the fields you want to display in the profile header. 4. Click Save to save your changes.
Example By default, the employee's time zone is displayed in the profile header. If you do not maintain or use this data in your company, you may want to remove the time zone from the profile header. You can do this by unchecking theTime Zone checkbox in the Configure Header Fields dialog.
7.2.5.2.2
Adding Custom Header Fields
You can add up to three custom data fields to the profile header

2. Select the Configure Header Fields link. 3. In the Configure Header Fields dialog, select one of the Custom Field checkboxes. 4. In the dropdown menu, select the desired field. 5. Click Save to save your changes.
Example Suppose that you use customizable fields to record alternative employee names, such as English Name or Legal Name. You may want to add these fields so that they appear in the header, under the employee's primary "display name." You can do this by adding a custom header field and selecting the English Name or Legal Name field you have defined in your data model.
7.2.5.2.3
Hiding or Showing the Profile Photo
You can decide whether to hide or show the employee profile photo in the header of the People Profile. The profile photo is treated like any other employee data field in the header, such as the employee's job title or location. As with other data fields, you can control visibility of the profile photo in the header in two ways. If you want to remove the photo from the header entirely, for all users, you can do by unchecking the Photo checkbox in the Configure Header Fields dialog. If you want the photo to be visible to some users of your system, but not to others, then you should check the Photo checkbox in the Configure Header Fields dialog, and then control visibility of the photo with role-based permissions.
7.2.6 Talent Data Settings You can select the data source and date range for ratings data that is displayed on the profile. This functionality is the same in People Profile as it was in the v12 profile. In th original v11 version of the UI, this option was available to end-users on the profile page itself. In People Profile, as in v12 profile, these settings are configured at a company-level in admin tools.

Localizing the People Profile
You can localize the People Profile for users of different languages by adding translations of titles and descriptions that you've added to the profile using the configuration tool. Most translation and localization of the UI is handled automatically by the application or is defined in your data model, but the Configure People Profile tool allows you to add certain text strings that appear on the profile, such as section titles, subsection titles, block titles, and block descriptions. You can add translations of these text strings for each language used in your system. Unlike the previous configuration tool, the Configure People Profile also enables you to view all of the translations in a given language, for easier inline translation.
7.3.1 Viewing the Profile in Different Languages You can view all of the custom titles and descriptions that are used in the People Profile in a given langage, This allows you to preview how the profile appears to users of different languages and it also provides for easier inline translation. To preview the profile layout in any of the languages used in your system, go to Configure People Profile and select a language from the dropdown menu int the top corner of the tool. All section, subsection, and block titles that have a translation are then displayed in the layout preview area in the language you selected.
Note By default, all section and subsection titles are the English word "Untitled", in all languages. If no translation has been added, the default English title "Untitled" is displayed. In the example shown below, the logged-in administrator is using the application in English but has selected Spanish in the language dropdown of the configration tool. You can see that the section and subsection titles have already been translated into Spanish, as has one block title. The second block still shows "Untitled" because no Spanish translation has been entered.

7.3.2 Applying One Title to All Languages Before you begin translating a particular section or subsection, you should apply a new "default" title to apply to all languages used in your system.
Context The reason for this recommendation is that, by default, new sections and subsections are called "Untitled" in all languages. You can replace this English word with a default title of your choice, in any language, and apply it to all languages. Then, you can proceed to entering your custom translations, as needed.
Note This step only applies to translating section titles and subsection titles. You do not need to do this for block titles or block descriptions. Block titles are already localized in the data model and block descriptions need to be entered and translated one-by-one. To apply one title to all languages, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Go to
Admin Tools
Employee Files
Configure People Profile .
2. In the language dropdown menu, select the language whose title you want to apply to all languages. 3. Open the appropriate Edit Section or Edit Subsection panel. 4. Click the Apply to All Languages button. 5. Click Save to save your changes.
Caution You should complete this step before adding any other translations of section or subsection titles. When you use the Apply to All Languages option, you will overwrite any existing translations, in all other languages, so any custom translations you have added will be lost.
7.3.3 Adding Translations You can add translations of section titles, subsection titles, block titles, and block descriptions for each language used in your system. There are two methods you can use to manage translations, depending on whether you want to translate multiple text string values in one language, or translate one text string value into multiple languages. 7.3.3.1
Translating Multiple Strings into One Language
If you want to translate multiple text string values into one particular language, use this method.
Context This method is useful when you are receiving translations of many strings in one language at the same time, such as when adding a new language to your system.. With this method, you enter translations for all the titles and descriptions in a given language at once. To enter multiple translations in one language, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Go to
Admin Tools
Employee Files
Configure People Profile .
2. Select the language for which you want to add translations, in the language dropdown menu. 3. Proceed to edit section titles, subsection titles, block titles, and block descriptions, as normal. The values you enter will be saved as the localized text for the language you selected in the dropdown. 4. Click Save to save your changes.
7.3.3.2
Translating One String into Multiple Languages
If you want to translate one particular text string value into multiple languages at once, use this method.
Context This method is useful when you have a small number of strings to translate but in many languages, such as when adding a new profile element to an existing profile. With this method, you enter translations of a given text string in all languages at the same time. To translate one text string value into multiple languages, complete the following steps:
Procedure 1. Go to
Admin Tools
Employee Files
Configure People Profile .
2. Locate the text string you want to translate (section, subsection, or block title, or block description) and open the corresponding Edit panel.

Permissions
You can use this setting to control visibility of the link on the People Profile, but it is not required. It does not control access to the Pending Requests page itself and is not dependent on whether a given user actually has any pending requests. So, in most cases, you probably want to leave this blank and not set any permissions.
3. Localize your Menu Item Label by clicking the localization icon (globe) and providing translations in the Locale Editor. 4. Save your changes.
Results You can now see the Pending Requests link on the People Profile, in the Jump To section of the Take Action menu. This link should direct you to pending requests involving the selected user (whose profile you are viewing).
8.2
Custom Help in Employee Central
You can customize or translate the help content in Employee Central. When Employee Central is used with the older V12 Profile UI, customizing help content is optional. Default help text, is included automatically, for both portlets and pages. However, the default help text can hidden, if desired, and replaced with custom help text. Custom help text can also be translated and localized for users of different languages. Currently, when Employee Central is used with the People Profile, no help text is visible by default. Default help text is hidden automatically So, to enable portlet help on the People Profile, it must be added as custom help. Similarly, custom portlet help text on the People Profile can be translated and localized for users of different languages. Page-level help is not available on the People Profile, because it is only one page.
8.2.1 Changing or Translating Portlet Help Content This section explains about working with portlet help content.
Prerequisites What you have to do first: 1. Go to Provisioning. People Profile Setting Up People Profile to Use with Employee Central
CUSTOMER
55
Remember As a customer, you do not have access to Provisioning. To complete tasks in Provisioning, contact SAP Support. 2. Under Company Settings, make sure that Hide Employee Central V2 Help Link is unchecked. Only then are the help icons displayed on the portlets and pages.
Note You must ensure that generic objects are enabled. For more information, see
Context The Employee Central portlets and pages contain end-user help you can call up by clicking the question mark icon, as in this example:
The help content delivered as standard is in US English only and hard-coded. You can configure the system so that the help content can be translated or changed by the customer, for example, to include customer-specific terminology. This is a three-step process: 1. Define for which languages the customer can add help content. 2. Enable text formatting in a rich-text editor by creating a configuration UI for the help content. 3. Define for which portlet or page help content can be added by creating instances for the ECHelp object, and add help content in one or more languages.
Caution If you create your own content help (even if you create it just for one portlet), the system does no longer show the help content delivered by SuccessFactors for any of the other portlets. The system retrieves the locale-specific contents from the object definition you have configured based on the logged-in user’s locale and the portlet IDs. On the UI, this HTML content is displayed in a separate window. If there is no help content available for a locale for a portlet, the question mark icon (“?”) for calling up help content is not shown for that portlet. If the system cannot retrieve customer-defined help content for any portlet, the help content delivered as standard, with US English (en_US) as the default, is displayed.
