GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
At the end of 3-day duty at Dr. Uy Hospital Inc., the student nurse shall, under the supervision of practicing clinical instructors, acquire comprehensive knowledge regarding the various disease process of their respective patients, perform the basic nursing skills and procedures with ease and competence, and manifest positive and desirable attitudes necessary in the promotion of optimal health and prevention of illness on DUHI Station 1.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
At the end of 8 hours of duty, the practicing clinical instructors shall:
Provide clear instructions during pre-conference pre-conference and check the student’s attendance and paraphernalia on time Monitor the overall activities of the students nurse during the shift and observe if the students are able to perform the usual nursing routine (i.e VS monitoring, I & O, monitoring ad regulating IVF) Ensure that the students will be able to pass the needed requirements on time and monitor the activities of charge nurses, medication nurses and team leader.
Supervise the students on the performance of basic nursing skills together with the assigned clinical instructor.
Check the students’ requirements and evaluate the students’ knowledge on the assigned patient through oral/written quiz.
Provide feedbacks regarding the student’s performance during the dry run of client teaching plan. Gather the students after the duty for post-conference and provide feedbacks about the overall performance of the duty (the students will also provide feedbacks to the performance of the PCIs, charge nu rses and medication nurses).
At the end of 8 hours of duty, the student nurse shall:
Monitor the VS (temp, PR, RR and BP) at least every 2 hours or depending on hospital protocol and doctor’s order
Carefully listen during the endorsement and take down important notes as a guide/reference and assist assist the staff nurses in monitoring IVF during nurse’s rounds
Continue assessing for the patient’s patient’s health needs and deficits and formulate FDAR based on patient’s priority needs
Provide bedside care to the patient(i.e maintenance of hygiene, arranging the bedlinens)
Implement appropriate interventions and evaluate the effectiveness based on patient’s patient’s verbal and physiologic responses
Answer the 3 questions specific to t he patient’s case with accuracy and precision
