PROCEDURE OF CHANGING CRANE CARGO RUNNER CABLE 1
LOWER THE HOOK AND SECURE THE BLOCK

BRIDGE THE SLACK ROPE DEVICE DEVICE

DISCONNECT THE LIMIT SWITCH FOR RUNNER DRUM.( mark the exact position of drum and turn o n the drum to established exact position at later connection)

DISCONNECT THE THIMBLE AT THE CRANE HOUSE AND LOWER THIS END OF THE WIRE TO THE DECK

MAKE A WHIPPING (see pho to A) BEHIND THE TIMBLE AND CUT THE TIMBL TIMBL E OFF

CONNECT THE NEW WIRE TO THE OLD WIRE BY USING SNAKE WIRE. (the drum of the wire has to set on the block and the turns should come from the top of the drum see photo B,supply b reaking device)

Remarks: If snake wire is not available,the available,the connection between the old and new wires can be done by r ings(see photo D) welded at the end of each wir e,connected with a small sh ackle make sure that the shackle and rings will p ass clear through th e sheaves. sheaves. See See photo C

HEAVE UP CAREFULLY

STOP HEAVING WHEN THE TURN OF THE WIRE IS ON THE DRUM INSIDE THE CRANE HOUSE

SET A STOPPER INSIDE THE CRANE HOUSE ( 2 or even 3 st opp ers)

SLACK THE WIRE A LITTLE IN THE CRANE HOUSE AND DISCONNECT THE OLD WIRE FROM THE NEW WIRE

SLACK DOWN THE OLD WIRE ON DECK UNTIL TWO TURNS ARE ON THE DRUM

DISCONNECT THE THE OLD WIRE FROM THE DRUM AND LOWER THE REST OF THE WIRE SLOWLY WITH A ROPE ON DECK,LOWERING FROM INSIDE THE CRANE HOUSE IS MUCH EASIER.

CONNECT THE NEW WIRE TO THE DRUM

CONTINUE HEAVING UP SLOWLY.BREAK THE DRUM ON DECK TO AVOID SLACK IN THE NEW WIRE

WHEN TEN (10) TURNS ARE LEFT ON THE DRUM DISCONNECT THE NEW THIMBLE FROM THE DRUM AND LAY THE WIRE IN LONG WAYS ON DECK

PULL THE THIMBLE UP AND RECONNECT THIMBL E TO CRANE HOUSE Remarks:
In case of crane no.1,forward mooring winches can be use to heave up the thimble into the top of the crane house. For crane no.2, in order to heave up the thim ble on top o f the crane,use pilot ladder winch . This must b e done cautiously,at slow sp eed,everybody must st and clear of the area. see photo E

CONTINUE HEAVING THE WIRE TO THE POSITION MARK IN STEP 3

RE-CONNECT THE LIMIT SWITCHES

DISCONNECT THE SLACK ROPE DEVICE

CHECK ALL LIMITS

FINALLY HEAVE AND SL ACK THE WIRE 3 TO 4 TIMES TO LAY THE WIRE.
