My adventures and experiences on the voyage and during my stay in India have been described, to a certain extent, in my age of Urur , a humorous story which novel The Talk in g Im age appeared first in H. P. Blavatsky’s paper Lucifer and was afterward s publ ished as as a book. Th is book, however, however, i s now out of print . I t w as wr it ten for the purpose purpose of showing showing th at “ from th e sublime to the ridiculous there is only one step.” ■ On December 4, 1883, w e arr arr i ved at M adras, adras, and I went to Adyar, where where I was welco welcome med d by M adam adam eBlavatskv eBlavatskv “ to m y fut ure hom e,” as she expr expr ess essed it . The headqu headqu art ers of th e “ TheosoTheosophical Society,” where she lived, were beautifullv located near th e A dy ar Ri ver and only a short di stance from t he sea. Th ey consisted of a bungalow with some outbuildings and were surrounded by a park, containing palms, mango, and other trees. The lower part of the two-story house was for the use of the members of the Soc Soc i et y; t he upper st st ory' was occupied by Madame Blavatsky.*
