A. Wujud Zat Pengertian Zat Zat adalah sesuatu yang menempati ruang dan memiliki massa. Suatu zat tersusun dari partikelpartikel suatu zat yang disebut dengan molekul. Molekul adalah bagian terkecil dari suatu zat yang masih memiliki sifat zat itu sendiri. Menurut wujudnya zat dibagi menjadi padat, cair dan gas. Perubahan Wujud Zat Perubahan wujud zat merupakan perubahan fisika. Perubahan ini meliputi : perubahan wujud padat ke cair, cair ke gas, gas ke padat, padat ke gas, gas ke cair, cair ke padat Perhatikan diagram berikut : GAS

Satuan massa jenis jenis dalam SI adalah adalah kg/m3, satuan lain adalah g/cm3, dimana : 1 kg/m3 = 0,001 g/cm3 1 g/cm3 = 1000 kg/m3 Massa jenis merupakan ciri khas yang dimiliki suatu benda. Benda yang terbuat dari zat murni, misalnya emas murni, dapat mempunyai bermacam-macam massa dan volume (ukuran), tetapi massa jenisnya selalu sama (tetap).
Kegunaan Mengetahui Massa Jenis Konsep massa jenis sering digunakan untuk dapat menentukan dengan tepat jenis sutu zat (benda) apa yang sesuai dengan kebutuhannya, misalnya : Dalam industri pesawat terbang, dibutuhkan suatu zat (bahan) yang kuat tetapi ringan, maka digunakan aluminium sebagai badan pesawat, karena aluminium lebih ringan massanya daripada besi. Pada umumnya, benda akan memuai bila dipanaskan dan menyusut bila didinginkan.Akan tetapi jenis pemuaian bervariasi, bergantung pada jenis materi benda.
A. Pemuaian Zat Padat Zat padat yang dipanaskan akan memuai. Pemua ian yang dialami zat padat dapat berupa muai panjang, muai luas, dan muai ruang r uang (volume). a. Muai Panjang
Apabila batang logam dipanaskan, akan memuai ke arah memanjang atau mengalami muai panjang. Muai panjang logam dapat diamati dengan alat yang disebut Musschenbroek, Suatu percobaan percobaan terhadap beberapa logam dengan alat Musschenbroek didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa pertam bahan panjang logam bergantung pada: 1) panjang logam/zat mula-mula, 2) kenaikan suhu, dan 3) jenis bahan. Pertambahan panjang logam tiap satuan suhu atau tiap 1oC disebut koefisien muai panjang. Apabila, l o menyatakan panjang logam sebelum dipanaskan, l t t menyatakan panjang logam setelah dipanaskan, dan ∆t menyatakan kenaikan suhu, koefisien muai panjang logam dapat ditulis dengan persamaan berikut.

Perpindahan Kalor Kamu telah mengetahui bahwa kalor merupakan salah satu bentuk energi dan dapat berpindah apabila terdapat perbedaan suhu. Secara alami kalor berpindah dari zat yang suhunya tinggi ke zat yang suhunya rendah. Bagaimana kalor dapat berpindah? Apabila ditinjau dari cara perpindahannya, ada tiga cara dalam perpindahan kalor yaitu: 1. konduksi (hantaran), 2. konveksi (aliran), dan 3. radiasi (pancaran).
