Preparing for Commissioning
Preparing for Commissioning Commissioning Prerequisite (1/2) •
• • •
•
Before commissioning, the physical installation of the BTS (modules, cabling, antennas and radios) must be completed. Make sure a PC with 2G Flexi BTS Site Manager installed. One 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet cable needed for the connection between the BTS and user PC. Parameter values must be available to be entered during commissioning. The parameter values are provided by the network planning process. BSC settings: the BTS site must already be created at the BSC for commissioning to be successfully completed.
Preparing for Commissioning Commissioning Prerequisites (2/2) •
Transmission network setup: the transmission link(s) between the BSC and the BTS must already be set up so that there is a transmission path from the BSC to the BTS for all the Abis channels. • If there are any intermediate transmission hubs between the BSC and the BTS, the cross connections in the hubs should either be set up at the E1/T1 link level, or at the n x 64 kbit/s level for all the channels to the BTS in an E1/T1 link. • With the Flexi transmission interface Flexbus sub-module (FIFA), the transmission link will be established during commissioning. Screenshots included are representations and should be considered as examples only. The current release of the 2G Flexi BTS Site Manager software may differ slightly from the shots depicted
Preparing for Commissioning Visual Check Inspections • Perform the first part of the visual check before powering on the BTS at the
power system. • Check the equipment visually to see that there are no fatal installation errors, which might lead to equipment damage during the power on, such as – the grounding – power cabling and supply voltage – other cables and fibres – LED status during power up – TX/RX/antenna connector torque check – Flexbus cables (used with FIFA) – LAN cable (used with the E1 transmission card) – LAN cables (used for TDM or Fast Ethernet transmission with FIPA, FIEA, FIQA,
FIYA) – Optical fibres (used for Gigabit Ethernet transmission with FIQA, FIYA)
• When all is proven to be OK, perform the 'Power on' check and verify the LED
status.
Preparing for Commissioning Installing the 2G Flexi BTS Site Manager (1/4) • Software needed in order to do
commissioning/ supervising the Flexi Mutiradio is 2G Flexi BTS Site Manager (mandatory) and Flexi Hub manager (if FIFA is used). • Both Software can be
downloaded via NOLS. • Please ensure that both
manager software must be compatible with the software level installed in the BTS. • User can check the
compatibility at Software compatibility of Flexi Multiradio BTS document in NED.

Commissioning Types
Commissioning types Commissioning Process Goal (1/2) • The commissioning process is divided into 4 different commissioning processes
depending on the connection and commissioning statuses: – BTS is not connected: The user intends to create SCF file or an EasyWizard
template. – BTS is connected and uncommissioned: The user wants to bring up the BTS in
functional state. He can either use an EasyWizard like template or can specify the settings manually – BTS is connected and commissioned: The user wants to upgrade the
configuration or can change the configuration. This may either simply append in existing configuration or may lead to recommissioning of BTS based on the new settings to be upgraded or changed. – BTS is connected remotely and commissioned: The user wants to upgrade the
configuration or can change the configuration. This may either simply append in existing configuration or may lead to recommissioning of BTS based on the new settings to be upgraded or changed.
Commissioning types Commissioning Process Goal (2/2) • The possible ways to perform commissioning process are: – Use existing SCF (Site Configuration File) – Upload SCF from BTS – Create SCF by manual commissioning using Commissioning Wizard
• Note: User should not modify the Site Configuration File by using XML editor.
Only the BTS Manager should be used to change any values in SCF. • The Commissioning Wizard will guide user through configuration. By clicking
"next" button the wizard will continue to the next configuration screen • The wizard consist following screen: – Site specific Information – Hardware Configuration – Transmission Parameter
