Data Sheet
Cisco Universal Small Cell 7734 The Cisco® Universal Small Cell (USC) 7734 is part of the Cisco Small Cell Solution, an end-to-end platform that integrates third-generation (3G), Long Term Evolution (LTE), and carrier-grade Wi-Fi with self-organizing network (SON) technologies and backhaul for an efficient and secure heterogeneous network (HetNet). The Cisco USC Series provides the right access point for every environment, from the home to the enterprise to high-density urban environments such as venues (Figure 1). This product is designed for dense urban environments. Figure 1.

Product Overview The Cisco USC 7734 is a dual-mode, indoor small cell that provides LTE and Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) coverage and capacity to locations where a service provider’s LTE and WCDMA macro cellular networks cannot do so cost-effectively. These locations range from indoor event venues requiring high-density service to concourse spaces, such as shopping malls, airports, and transportation stations that are characterized by sudden surges in demand. In addition to transforming the mobile experience and helping service providers cope with challenging congestion conditions, the Cisco USC 7734 (Figure 2) reduces network costs through intelligent policy-based operation. It uses in- building backhaul and provides a dynamic evolution path from 3G to LTE services. There is also an external plug- on Wi-Fi module (the Cisco USC 7210) for service providers who want to deliver multimode services. Figure 2.

Features and Benefits During technology transitions, service providers need to tune the balance of 3G and 4G capacity according to changing demand. The Cisco USC 7734 runs 4G LTE and 3G Evolved High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) simultaneously, with software-defined resource allocation. The small cell can therefore be deployed and remotely upgraded as 3G only, 4G only, or a combination of 3G and 4G. The quad-band radios can also be remotely software-configured for either 4G LTE or 3G HSPA+ use. For busy small cells interacting with the existing macro network, service providers demand key performance indicators (KPIs) to match those of the macro network. The Cisco USC 7734 is a high-availability small cell designed to provide up to 99.999 percent availability in high-traffic environments, using commercially proven, highavailability software enhancements to maximize cell uptime. In common with all Cisco small cells, the Cisco USC 7734 offers fully automated real-time interference management, which is further enhanced using SON techniques for multicell clusters.

Self-Organizing Network The Cisco USC Series can support ActiveSON, an intelligent and automatic method for improving the installation and performance of a grid of cells in a location. Using peer-to-peer discovery and signaling, cells are able to discover each other, set key parameters such as neighbor lists, and dynamically adjust their configuration as the environment changes. ™
Cisco Quantum SON is fully integrated with the Cisco Universal Small Cell portfolio, to seamlessly integrate small cells into the macro network and create a truly heterogeneous multivendor multitechnology Radio Access Network (RAN). With SON built into every Cisco USC access point, orchestrated and delivered at the network layer through Quantum SON, Cisco SON provides resilient, automatic operation, with self-installation, self-optimization, and selfhealing, even in shared-frequency indoor environments. These capabilities help reduce operating expenses (OpEx) and improve quality of experience.

System Requirements Table 3 lists the system requirements needed for successful deployment of the Cisco USC 7734. Table 3.
System Requirements
WCDMA network
The Cisco USC 7734 requires a standards-based Iuh Home Node B gateway (HNB-GW), usually through a security gateway (SeGW) to terminate IPSec, for communication with an existing 3G core network using Iu interfaces. This HNB-GW can be separately provided by Cisco as f unctionality available on the Cisco ASR 5000 Series product.
Management system
The Cisco USC 7734 requires a TR-069-compliant management system to manage both the WCDMA and LTE capabilities of the product.
LTE network
The Cisco USC 7734 is designed to provide a direct connection to the LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) through S1 interfaces (usually through an SeGW to terminate IPSec). Cisco can provide the SeGW and EPC as separately available items with our ASR 5000 Series. If it is necessary to provide S1 aggregation, then an LTE Home eNodeB gateway (HeNB-GW) can be used.
-48 VDC
A -48V DC power supply is required to power the Cisco USC 7734.
Backhaul
The Cisco USC 7734 requires suitable backhaul to handle both WCDMA HSPA and LTE traff ic, which could be as high as 170 Mbps on the downlink and ~43 Mbps on the uplink. The unit has electrical or optical Gigabit Ethernet, and for dual-mode operations, the backhaul would have to provide at least VDSL capabilities.
Limited Lifetime Hardware Warranty The Cisco USC 7734 includes a 12-month hardware warranty and 90-day software warranty. Find warranty information on Cisco.com at the Product Warranties page.
