Karrimor appoints Dougal Haston as technical advisor and the ‘Haston Alpiniste’ in purple becomes the most famous alpine sac ever.

Karrimor receives a British Design award in the course of duty.

1975

Introduction of volume adjuster fit kits to the ksb footwear allow further refinement of footwear fit for better comfort and performance.

1946 Charles and Mary Parsons, along with Grace Davies founded the Karrimor company in Lancashire and started producing cycle bags.

1948 ®

Karrimor introduce weathertite products, way ahead of their time.

1957

Chris Bonnington's Everest South West Face expedition is successful, fully equipped with Karrimor products. Junko Tabei of Japan becomes the first woman to climb Everest using a Karrimor pack frame sac.

1978 Peter Habeler achieves the first ascent of Everest without oxygen using Karrimor equipment. ks100e introduced, considered to be the worlds first waterproof texturised fabric.

1980

Karrimor starts work with Joe Brown and introduces the Joe Brown Rucsac.

ksb’s introduced. The first outdoor footwear made from lightweight fabric, instead of heavier leather, and outdoor footwear revolution begins.

1983

Karrimor starts a decade of domination of the UK market with the Alpiniste sac born of a partnership with Don Whillans.

Introduction of the size adjustable back system for sacs make load carrying comfortable for everyone.

Karrimor introduce pack frames and the Karrimat ® .

Karrimor introduces a range of polar garments and accessories.

First climbing sacs produced in conjunction with the climbers of the day Jimmy Rostron and Dave Thomas.

2000 ADD introduced to ksb footwear to (again) improve the fit, function and performance of ksb’s.

2001 ksb’s diversify into sandals and approach footwear.

2007 Karrimor develop new X-Lite products; lighter weight yet without sacrificing performance or durabili ty. Karrimo r introduces Fine Moulding a technology that increases durability of fabrics by up to 50% versus standard walking boot fabrics without sacrificing breathability.

A Karrimor innovation in it’s newest innovation. The fit-kit footbed has a removable lower section, in place it reduces the volume of the last to customise to a lower volume fit. Without the lower section in place the fit will be the full higher volume last that the ksb is famous for. The upper section has a highly wicking top sheet and moulded heel support. Removable and machine washable.

how much do we sweat? All humans sweat. A lot. Especially athletes. Humans simply walking produce 0.25 to 0.5 liters of sweat per hour, and up to 1.5 liters during strenuous activity. All this sweat has to move through your clothing system, your gloves, and your footwear.

Sweat vents directly to the outside of the fabric in one easy step. We call this Direct Venting™ Technology. Its genius is hidden in its simplicity. eVent fabrics simply

let the sweat out.™

Most common waterproof/breathable membranes do not literally "breathe". Instead they move sweat in two slow steps by a process of diffusion through a Polyurethane (PU) layer. Because PU absorbs and retains sweat, the inside of the fabric becomes wet. Then, body heat begins to push that dampness through to the outside of the fabric where it can finally evaporate - a very inefficient process.

weathertite ® is a Karrimor's specified waterproof and breathable fabric. First introduced in 1948 and undergoes continual improvement in line with technological advancements to provide durable waterproofness and breathability. Footwear weathertite is a laminate used in a bootie construction and offers an excellent overall performance.
