California DMV Permit Test Study Guide It is illegal to operate a vehicle with:
Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.08% or higher if you’re 21 or older
Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.01% if you’re under under 21
Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.01% if you’re on a DUI probation
Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.04% if you’re in a vehicle requiring a commercial driver license
Remember these numbers! Pedestrians
Yield to pedestrians; they have the right of w ay in marked or unmarked crosswalks
If there’s a car that’s stopped at a crosswalk, don’t pass it, it probably is stopping for a pedestrian
Stop vehicle 5 feet within the crosswalk
Look for pedestrians at crosswalks when passing
Basically, just remember to stop for pedestrians and that they have the right-of-way. If there’s a confusing question, just remember anything with slow down safely and yielding to the t he pedestrian is the best bet. Speed Limits
You may never drive faster than is safe fo r current conditions. o
Speed should depend on:
Number and speed of other vehicles
Road surface (slippery, rough, etc.)
Pedestrians on the road
The weather (rainy, hailing, foggy, snowing, windy, etc.)
Maximum speed limit on the highway is 65 mph but you may drive 70 mph where posted
When driving within 500 to 1000 feet of a school with children, the speed limit is 25 mph and drive more carefully
You must stop if a school bus flashes its red lights until it stops
15 mph for a blind intersection (an intersection where you can’t see 100 feet in either direction before crossing)
15 mph in alleys
15 mph near railroad tracks
Drive at a safe speed, relative to the cars and situations around you
