This means you are up and running and profitable as soon as possible. For full features and high value, it can’t be beaten.
First Bi-directional Link Between CAD and Stress Analysis CADWorx/PIPE offers a seamless link to CAESAR II, COADE’s popular pipe stress analysis program. This is the first intelligent, fully functional, bi-directional link between a CAD and a pipe stress analysis program. Engineers and designers working together save time and improve accuracy with this powerful combination.
Stress Analysis Made Easy You can select part or all of a CADWorx/PIPE drawing and convert it instantly and automatically into a CAESAR II input file. Similarly, CAESAR II data can be converted to CADWorx/PIPE drawings with minimal intervention. This smart link between CAD and analysis establishes a whole new level of ease and bi-directional intelligence never before possible with conventional programs.
Automatic Stress Isometrics CADWorx/PIPE can also use CAESAR II output results data to easily create stress isometrics. Guided by a custom dialog within the program, you can select analysis results and add them to the isometric. The program automatically generates fully dimensioned stress isometrics annotated with input data and/or analysis results.
Latest AutoCAD Capabilities The CADWorx/P&ID development team started with an open mind, a clear vision and a clean sheet of paper. Unlike older P&ID packages which are tied to years of legacy code, CADWorx/P&ID looks forward with the latest technologies. It establishes a new benchmark not only in look and feel of the program itself, but in user configurable features and database integrity. CADWorx/P&ID does not redefine AutoCAD commands. Instead, AutoCAD commands are monitored using the ObjectARX technology. These features allow the program to ensure full synchronization between database and drawings. CADWorx/P&ID also conforms to the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) standard within the Windows environment. This allows you to maintain relational databases in Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Oracle and dBase.
Fast Start Up Installing CADWorx/P&ID is fast and easy. The installation procedure automatically associates itself with AutoCAD and creates all the groups and icons required to get you up and running immediately. You can start a new drawing or project with just a few selections from dialog boxes. For a P&ID without database management, just select a “drawing with no database” from the dialog box and begin drawing. If you require multiple P&ID’s with a central database management system, just set up a new project and begin drawing.
Time Saving Automation CADWorx/P&ID offers a complete set of utilities and other automated features which make drawing and database management fast, simple and accurate. Special features allow you to:
Built-in dialogs keep the P&ID synchronized with any associated databases for easy, dynamic attribute editing.
• Configure or control layers and other project settings • Define and manage line widths for different processes
• Tag components and equipment for easy annotation • Break lines automatically when routing process lines over one another • Break lines automatically by placing a symbol on a process line • Edit symbols to match any user requirement • Use true “To” and “From” process information across drawings • Control the process flow when using databases • Annotate and update the drawing automatically from databases • Construct your drawing without information then add information at your convenience
Comprehensive Symbols Libraries CADWorx/P&ID includes symbols for every need to create drawings right out of the box. These include: • Equipment symbols for vessels, pumps, separators, storage tanks and compressors • Valve symbols such as gate, ball, 3-way and 4-way • ISA standard line types and instrumentation bubble symbols • Routines that automatically place arrows to indicate process flows on the lines
Easy, Flexible Menu Modifications CADWorx/P&ID provides dialogs for modifying existing menus or creating custom ones for any user requirement. The menu manager provides symbol management for adding or deleting menu symbols at will. Unlimited user-defined symbols can be added, and symbols can include internal information. Single or multiple entities can be combined to create assemblies for use with or without databases.
New Database Connectivity What distinguishes CADWorx/P&ID from other programs is its levels of information access. Whether it’s a single P&ID drawing or a shared project environment, drawing information can be maintained in database records. All parties can share and modify data from the standard AutoCAD drawing or from standard database records and tables. Database and drawings are always in sync.
Three Levels of Operation in CADWorx/P&ID ▼ L E V E L
CADWorx/P&ID easily edits and manages all tables within your database, allowing for dynamic project management.
Dynamic Database Fields While other programs provide a fixed set of fields within their databases, CADWorx/P&ID provides a dynamic solution. At the beginning or at any time during a project, CADWorx/P&ID allows you to add, subtract, delete or modify the fields required within your database. For example, Client A needs four data fields associated with the Vessel tables and Client B needs 20. To modify your database structure, go to the “Table Setup” dialog box. Then, just add, delete or edit any of the fields required within your project’s relational database. No database management knowledge is required.
Displayable Attributes Always In Sync Attributes are not new to AutoCAD users, but they are used effectively in CADWorx/P&ID. An attribute is combined with a block to form an editable entity within AutoCAD just as before. The COADE developers decided to use the best of the new and old together. CADWorx/P&ID combines these familiar attributes with blocks that automatically associate themselves with the database. If you name an attribute in the drawing using the same name as in the database table column, the drawing will automatically update itself when the database is changed. If the drawing is changed, then the database will change. This ensures the drawing and database are always in sync.
Keep Old Drawings Your old drawings and the information they contain are still useful. You do not have to redraw. CADWorx/P&ID includes powerful mapping routines that allow you to
link items on your legacy drawings to your project database. This includes valves, vessels, mechanical, instruments and process lines. Once you map items to the database, all instances of that item are recognized on subsequent drawings and automatically linked to the project database—a real time productivity boost. If you want to document your existing plant, CADWorx/P&ID is your tool!
Automatic Loop Diagrams* When hundreds or thousands of loop diagrams are required, CADWorx/P&ID’s Automatic Loop Diagram Generator makes it easy, and you can create individual loop diagrams from template drawings in seconds. CADWorx/P&ID provides the tools to make it fast and easy:
O N E
For stand-alone operation, Level 1 allows you to generate P&ID’s without an associated database. This level is useful for basic drafting of projects where data management is unnecessary. Level 1 provides conventional blocks with attributes you can edit and control, and blocks can be added with ease to match any user requirements. It is a simple solution for a simple system.

If you wish to attach other documentation to a single P&ID, Level 2 is the answer. This level allows you to maintain complete documentation, structure the database just the way you want it and then store it internally within the drawing. Later, when the drawing is retrieved, the database recreates itself to provide you with all the information attached to the single P&ID.

The Loop Table Generator will read the string or attribute tokens in your loop template drawing and create a loop template table with columns for each. You can rearrange table columns, modify column widths or change field types. The Loop Table Editor makes adding information or copying and pasting from fields or rows a painless task. Whatever modifications are made, the loop tables are automatically updated in the P&ID’s. The Loop Diagram Generator will automatically extract loop numbers from the instrument database to allow the user to select the loops for which individual loop diagrams are to be created. If instrumentation is your job, CADWorx/P&ID can make it easier!
*optional
If you need to manage projects where several designers and staff from different disciplines work on the same data, Level 3 is your solution. CADWorx/P&ID can match any data management requirement. Here, database resources can be entered or updated at any station. This level provides the utmost in process data and document control within your P&ID’s. It sets up a central relational database that provides the designer or process engineer a central location to change or maintain the complete process. Information changed in the database will automatically be updated in the drawings while information changed in the drawings will automatically be updated in the database. Whether it is used to draw P&ID’s, update a process design, manage inventory or requisition material, CADWorx/P&ID offers the connectivity to keep these tasks in constant harmony.
As simple and easy as CADWorx is to use…
