3 E NVIRONMENTAL AND I NDUSTRY A NALYSIS: +t is important to put the new venture in a proper conte)t by #rst conducting an environmental analysis of the industry to identify the trends and changes occurring on national and international level that might impact our business. Therefore we have analyKed each and every factor that can a$ect our business directly or indirectly. These factors are stated below=
Economy:
A countries economy is very important to consider before venturing into any business. Throughout the last 0 years many things have changed. People income has been increasing" the >-P and >;P of our country is also increasing. However the unemployment rate2.45 is not satisfactory. &till there are lots of people who are living below the poverty line. +t is unfortunate but truth that those who are rich are getting richer and those who are poor are getting poorer. The urban growth rate is estimated at appro)imately /.2 percent per annum therefore there is a imbalance in our economy. Another important factor that we should consider is that people's disposable income it is the money that people hold after all the e)penses including ta). Basically this disposable income is getting lower because of the last 4 years in,ationary +n,ation %P+:< L.5: trends in our country. However" though or target people is the upper class and higher middle class people living in >ulshan" Banani and Baridhra" we assume those people li!e to have candy and chocolate fre*uently and money is not a factors for them.
C#lt#!%:
Bangladesh has a rich historical and cultural past. Residents of Bangladesh" about C@5 of who are ethnic Bengali and spea! Bangle" are called Bangladeshis. Grdu=spea!ing" non= Bengali uslims of +ndian origin" and various tribal groups" mostly in the %hittagong Hill Tracts" comprise the remainder. ost Bangladeshis about @@.65: are uslims" but Hindus constitute a siKable 0.45: minority. There also are a small number of Buddhists" %hristians" and animists. 1nglish is spo!en in urban areas and among the educated. -uring the last decade Bangladeshi culture has changed dramatically due to the satellite channels. Peoples are now getting more fashionable and artistic by seeing the western world and +ndia. 1ven the perception of people has changed. +ts not a long time ago that people used to see chocolate and candy as children's food but now it's become adult's food. 1ven the previously people used to thin! that chocolate and candy is bad for health but now scientist had proved that chocolate is very good for health. On the other hand due to the western cultural in,uence people are now involved in celebrating various occasion and people developed a tendency to give chocolate as a gift to their love one. Therefore due to the cultural changed we hope that this change or trends is favorable to our new business.
T%cnolo'y:
Technology is a very important to consider before venturing for any new business. The change in technology can hamper or even can developed the business more. However we have already !nown that Bangladesh is a developing country and the growth of our country is very slow. But fortunately technologically our country has developed a lot. ost
4
Business Plan 7 8The %andy &tore9
importantly the communication process has improved dramatically. However" technological change can not put any barrier in our business because we will adopt a latest technology to !eep our goods safe and healthy. And for business accounting process we will use latest software and other security accessories to !eep our business up to date. Besides that we have developed a policy that after 2 years all the machinery and electronic e*uipment will be updated and serviced.
3%'al Conc%!n$:
There are many important legal issues in starting a new venture. 3e are starting our business under the partnership act C62. And before starting the business we have ta!e trade license from the city corporation by showing our contract and other document as mentioned by them with trade licensee Fee. 3e will also ma!e a deed where we have written all the legal issues regarding our business li!e pro#t sharing" partners rights etc. However besides this partnership legal issues there are other issues we have to !eep in mind that is the government ta)" %ity corporation ta) etc. and most importantly we have to comply by the rules and regulation regarding renting space with a proper document. Though we are mostly importing our product from foreign country we have to open % through our local government approved ban! therefore we also have to comply by the import rules and regulation. However these legal issues can delay to start our business due to red tapes in our bureaucracy.

31 UTURE O UTLOOK AND T RENDS: The future trends in chocolate and candy consumption in Bangladesh is very promising because according to various research chocolate is very good for health and there is a good segment for this mar!et. Though Bangladesh is a developing country and its most of the people are poor they can not a$ord e)pensive chocolate and candy for their consumption but on the other hand there is small high income segment where we can target our product and these segments will give us high pro#t if we position our product according to their needs. %urrently Bangladesh does not produce coco which is the main ingredients for producing chocolate. But Bangladesh import huge amount of raw chocolate from 1urope and Asian mar!et. Then they mi)ed some ingredients and sell it to the customers. Basically our local manufacturer target children's and teens. But those manufacturers could not create any new needs to increase the consumption of the candy and chocolate through proper mar!eting. 3e believe that within the 4 years Bangladesh chocolate and candy industry will grow and there will be a large number of people who are actually consume chocolate and candy in di$erent occasion.
32 ANALYSIS O C OM=ETITORS: +n Bangladesh the candy shop is a new concept. And we are starting this business without having any competitors in retail level. 3e believe that we will be able to ma!e a good relationship with the local chocolate and candy manufacturer. &o that we can get *uality and modi#ed candy and chocolate from them and we will sell their product with pro#table trade margin. However" there are some manufacturer and importer who are actually selling their candy and chocolate through various super shop mar!ets. They might be our competitor but we will mostly focus on the *uality and premium candy and chocolate products so that we can create a positive position in the mind of consumers.
33 MARKET S EGMENTATION: %ustomer segmentation is a way to understand customers' uni*ue characteristics and behaviors so we can come up with a mar!eting message that communicates with them e$ectively. +t also helps to spend r mar!eting cost wisely" using only those vehicles that can reach identi#ed segments. After evaluating our customers we have segment our customers in the following criteria=
Typ% o c#$tom%!
Perhaps the most basic way to segment customers is to decide whether to target consumers or other businesses. 3e have targeted those customers who are candy lovers basically children and teens. And those who li!e chocolate very much and li!e to give chocolate as a

T!'et !'e! &' +&!t*&":
The geographic location of your customer base is crucial to determining the mar!eting methods your business will employ. %ustomers can be local" regional" national" or international. Though we are going to set up our retail shop in the most posh area of -ha!a city is in >ulshan near the pin! city. This place is very busy throughout the oDce hours and at night. Therefore our target people is those people who come to shopping and li!e to have some #nest chocolate for their children and other relatives. And most importantly we have targeted our product on the basis of location base basically those people who are living in the >ulshan and Banani area.
De)&'!5h*%: -emographics are the basic Mvital statisticsM of our customer base. 4$yco'!apic$: Psychographics refer to personality and emotional behavior that in,uences purchasing. +n other words" what are the buying habits of the customers For e)ample" is the customer impulsive or ris! averse There are a broad range of variables that can be considered and they often play against each other" but some of the most common psychographic components include< The customerNs tendency to purchasing a new product or service vs. another

Brand loyalty or reputation of our retail store.

3 I NDUSTRY ORECAST: ;ot all countries are able to enoy the sweet taste of chocolate and candy e*ually. There is a profound dichotomy between those nations that e)tract the raw materials and those who indulge in the #nished product. As it is shown in the maps available" all but one of the top twenty countries that consume chocolate are considered Nwell=developedN or NadvancedN. BraKil is the only country involved on the list that actually considers chocolate to be a natural resource. The reality e)ists that the processing and consumption of chocolate products is 3estern 3orld dominated. E05 of the worldwide pro#t from chocolate sales is concentrated in these countries. @05 of the world chocolate mar!et is accounted for by ust si) transnational companies" including ;estle" ars and %adbury. 1uropeans alone consume around /05 of the worldNs cocoa per year" @45 of which is imported from 3est Africa. There have recently been e$orts to initiate a fair=trade movement" which would encourage the purchase of cocoa from developing country producers at a fair price. However" tari$ escalation continues to me a maor problem" which acts to drive chocolate consumers and cocoa e)porters further apart. However Bangladesh is this candy and chocolate business has high growth potential mar!et. 3e believe that in future this industry will grow even bigger and new *uality product will emerge from our local manufacturer and we can collect candy and chocolate from our local mar!et with less cheap price.

O THE VENTURE :
"#$in%$$ O5%!5i% %andy sales booth are popping up in every mall across the Bangladesh" and why not &tarting a business that retails candy is very straightforward and the biggest challenge to overcome is selecting the right operating location for the business. +deally" a candy shop should be in a very busy area of a community so it can ta!e advantage of foot traDc" as well as impulse buying by consumers. Also consider o$ering customers a free delivery service to e)pand the potential mar!et to include customers who want to send candies to relatives in the hospital" loved ones at holiday time" and business owners see!ing to reward clients or employees with their favorite bo) of chocolates or candies. To !eep in this mind we have decided to open a new candy store in the most posh area of -ha!a city is in the >ulshan. This is the place where lots of people come to shop with their family members. Ma!&%tin' 4!o'!am: The four mar!eting elements are descried in details with proper mar!eting strategy for each.
4!o(#ct $t!at%'y: 3e have already described our product line category. 3e will have a vast candy and chocolate product line so that customers can have di$erent choices. And most importantly we will have every !ind of candy and chocolate so that customers can use that in di$erent occasion for their consumption. Besides that we thin! that our shop has the best product to give someone's loved one.
Uni+#% p!o(#ct +#ality: 3e will import most of the product from the +ndia china and &witKerland. Therefore we choose our suppliers after scrutiniKing their business reputation and goodwill. After that we negotiate with by to supply us the good *uality candy and chocolate. Besides that we will establish a warehouse for !eeping our candy and chocolate in the right temperature. Therefore we will provide customers a high *uality and premium candy and chocolate.
4ac&a'in': Pac!aging is one of the most important part to attract consumers. Attractive pac!age attract customers *uic!ly then others. 3e will sell the product in a *uality and sophisticated pac!age which we will manufacture in the local mar!et.
=RICE STRATEGY : All of the product will be priced according to their cost of purchasing. 3e will adust price after every one year with the in,ationary trends. Through we are selling a premium product therefore our product price will be little bit higher then others. However we will try to price our product at a competitive level. &o that customers can not be dissatisfy.
DISTRI.UTION STRATEGY :
@
Business Plan 7 8The %andy &tore9
Through we are not going to sell our product with others retailer therefore we don't have any distribution networ!s. However our product suppliers are the main concern for us. They will send our product through ship and we will collect it from the port by giving all the necessary customs fee and ta).
=ROMOTIONAL STRATEGY : 3e are serving in niche mar!et therefore promotion is the most important factors to reach that mar!et. 3e have developed a promotional strategy to promote our product e$ectively to the target customers. And we assign 0" 0000 for its promotional cost in the #rst year. +t's very important for us to hold the e)isting customers therefore we will mainly focus on those customers by giving them store discount" coupons" gifts etc. Also we will give the customers to taste certain ,avor so that they will satisfy with the product taste and purchase the product. However our promotional strategy is stated below=
>iving a color print add in all the important national newspaper.
Advertisement in the billboard.
>iving lift let in the posh areas li!e >ulshan" Banani and baridhra.
+nitially we will give discount on certain product to attract customers.
%reating impulse buying by decorating our store.
&ponsoring the children's show and any spots related program.
CONTROLS: 3e will set a monthly sales target and after each month we will match that our sales target is met or not. +f it's not meet our target then we wills tries to identify the problem in the promotional strategy by evaluating the customer's feedbac! and mar!et situation. 1ven we will math our monthly pro#t that it actually overcomes the cost or not. +f it is not then we will tries to create more mar!et or try to increase the consumption of the chocolate and candy.
