1$ 0a#e a loop about 2 cm (an inch) rom the yarn end$ Hrab the 6oin with your thumb and oreinger$

2$ 7nsert the hoo# through the loop rom ront to bac# yarn o*er and draw up a loop$

3$ arn o*er and draw through the loop$

4$ ull the yarn tight$ This does not count as the irst single crochet stitch$

!$ +tart the irst sc$ 7nsert the hoo# through the starting loop rom ront to bac#$

Canin yarn  'uic# and easy but clean way to change yarns when wor#ing in single crochet stitch$

1$ +top beore the last step o the last single crochet stitch with the IoldJ yarn$

2$ Tie the InewJ yarn around the IoldJ yarn and push the #not close to the piece$ Cut the IoldI yarn and tie the yarn tails together$

4$ ic# up the InewJ yarn and draw through both loops$ Continue crocheting with the InewJ yarn$

!$ There will be a 6olt where the yarn is changed and the stripes will not line up$

Invisible sinle crocet decrease ic# up the ront loops o both stitches and crochet one single crochet stitch into the loops$ lternati*ely you can replace it with regular single crochet decrease$

1$ 7nsert the hoo# under the ront loop o the irst single crochet stitch$ ;o not yarn o*er$

/inisin an open piece This is a way to inish an open piece that will later be sewn to another closed or open piece$ 7 you need to lea*e a yarn tail or sewing stop ater step 2$

1$ 0a#e a slip stitch in the neBt stitch$ Cut the yarn and draw the yarn tail through the loop$

2$ 7nsert the hoo# through the neBt stitch rom ront to bac# and draw the yarn tail through$

3$ 7nsert the hoo# through the neBt stitch rom bac# to ront and draw the yarn tail through$

Stuffin te pieces +tuing is what gi*es your inished amigurumi the shape so ta#e your time$ oosen the stuing between your hands and add a little bit at a time$ Keep adding until your piece is irm and holds shape$ 7 you start getting lumps pull out all the stuing loosen it and start o*er$ 7 you can see the stuing through the abric you ha*e o*erstued$ Then it is best to start o*er and stu more lightly$ =hen using a dar# colored or *ery bright yarn it is best to stu more lightly or use colored stuing to #eep it rom showing through the abric$

1$ %ring the needle up through the abric under a stitch o the open piece$ Ho down through both loops o the stitch and into the same hole$

Se0in an open piece to a closed piece 0it mattress stitc The same method can be used to 6oin two open pieces$

Eastening with a #not and hiding the yarn tail This tutorial will show how to #not the yarn tail and hide it inside a piece$ This method can be used when the yarn tail and the main piece are the same color$

1$ %ring the yarn up through the abric ater you ha*e inished sewing$

2$ 7nsert the needle under one loop o a stitch right neBt to the hole$

3$ ull until you ha*e a small loop$

4$ 0a#e a double #not$ ;o not push the irst #not close to the abric$

!$ Cut o the loop end$

D$ ull lightly until the #not disappears into the abric$
