Dayon samtang nagakatulin Kining atong dagan# Mamiyong tag maghangad Ngadto sa ka!anangan ka!anangan Aron sugaton ang taligsik Sa u!an# dahon# ug bulak.
ANALYSIS:
Analyzing a poem can be a really hard task to accomplish. Basically, you have to read it. Usually, these poems would be written in English, so that would have been an easier undertaking, but somehow our group was assigned with the one written in Cebuano. So, now we dont only have consider its rhythm and meter, its imagery and symbolism! now, we also have to decode its meaning and, i" possible, translate it into the universal language. Upon reading and rereading the Cebuano poem #Balaki $o, %&ay, Samtang 'asakay (ag )abal*habal+ written by Adonis '. &urado, we "inally came up with an analysis. Adonis &urados poem describes a very common situation in the provincial areas a habal*habal ride but the uni-ue thing about this habal*habal ride is that when you yoursel" eperience the words articulated by the persona you would know that it has a romantic and somehow sensual "eel to it. (he speaker, the driver o" the habal*habal, tells his passenger, a woman who is most probably his lover, to hold on to him tighter "or him to "eel her heartbeat more clearly against his back. )is want "or her to cling to him tight can be interpreted as an epression o" love. (his craving o" physical intimacy between the characters suggests o" young love, as young couples usually act as i" they cant get enough o" each other and has to have their hands on each other constantly.
The poem also has an almost sexual tone to it. The term “habal-habal” comes from the wor “habal”! which is a "ebuano term for animals copulatin#. Since a habal-habal motorc$cle rie ma%es the passen#ers an ri&ers seem li%e a bunch of animals copulatin#! the$ coine the term “habal-habal”. This sexual tone can also be pro&en from the use of '#urati&e lan#ua#e su##este on the ()th to the (*th lines of the poem! as well as its 'nal * lines which conclues an or#asm-li%e enin# to the poem. +ainl$! the poem is about a $oun# couple who #o for a rie on a habalhabal! with the ri&er usin# the proximit$ as a reason for the #irl to be intimate.
