Low haemoglobin levels are due to malfunctioning of liver which doesn’t clean up the toxicants in blood every day. These toxicants can be due to varied reasons such as our bad food habits, pollution, smoking, alchohol, drugs and weak immune system. In Ayurveda, Manjishta(Rubia cordifolia) is the prescribed herb for purifying blood and improving skin’s health. The root of Manjishtha has astringent, antibacterial and diuretic properties. It helps in curing Skin disorders, Recurrent Urinary Tract infections and Rheumatism. It purifies the blood by removing toxins from blood, dissolving obstructions in blood flow and removing stagnant blood. It is alterative, anti-tumor, astringent, deobstruent, diuretic, emmenagogue, hemostatic, lithotriptic in action and acts effective as an immune regulator. Manjishtha is at the same time bitter, astringent and sweet in taste and heavy, dry and hot in effect thus it is a pacifier of both kapha and pitta. Manjishtha is used in treatment of number of diseases like raised uric acid and gouty arthritis, glandular swellings,
recurrent skin infections and other diseases of the skin like pigmentation anomalies and leucoderma, gynecological problems, like white discharge and irregular menstruation. It is used in many herbal formulations also. It can be used both internally as medicine or externally as face pack. This herb is specially advisable in skin ailments such as pimples, acne, freckles and discoloration but it can also used for gaining luster or glow of the skin. It is also known as Indian Madder. Intake of 2 teaspoons of manjishta powder for atleast 100 days is advised for better visible results. Take one glass of warm water and mix 1-2 teaspoonful of honey and one teaspoonful of lemon juice. Take this preparation daily before evacuation. It helps to purify the blood. It also helps to reduce fat and to clean the bowels. After cleaning bowels you can try manjista.
2-Leucoderma (Vitiligo) or Skin Pigmentation home treatment
Vitiligo is also known as ‘leucoderma ‘, which appears as single or multiple depigmented patches on any part of the body. These patches gradually increase in size & cause lot of psychological stress to the patient. This is a condition in which there is a localized loss of the skin’s pigmentation. These patches are more commonly seen in sun-exposed
areas, which includes the hands, feet, arms, face, and lips. Other areas of the body where this is commonly seen are the armpits and groin, the area around the mouth, eyes, nostrils, navel, and genitals as well. Leucoderma (vitiligo) Symptoms : Initially it starts off
as a single pale spot and spreads into multiple patches which become whiter, as sking loses its pigmentation. Vitiligo or Skin Pigmentation Causes:
Skin Pigmentation occurs mainly due to the malfunctioning of the endocrine glands and the liver. Skin pigmentation problems occur as either an excessive coloration or darkening of the skin or a loss of color and pigment in the skin, over the entire body or just in patches and spots. Pigmentation is more widespread amongst the middleaged women. Very few women in younger age suffer from skin problems like pigmentation, and the extent of the problem is minimal with few exceptions. This in fact is related to the endocrinal changes that occur when women reach middle age. The severity of pigmentation problem is associated with several diseases and disorders. So careful investigation is needed for increasing the body’s immunity and purification of Blood. Recipe No.1:
Take 10 gms cow’s ghee and add boil it on SIM flame by adding 10 pepper . After few minutes remove the pepper from the ghee and use the ghee along with daily food. Benefits: Blood gets purified, body immunity increases and skin related problems are removed.
Recipe No.2:
Add 1 spoon honey to warm Goat’s milk and take early in the morning. Benefits: Good relief of skin pigmentation within 40 to 100 days. Recipe No.3:
Wet turmeric : 100 gm (Make pieces of turmeric sticks, dry them and make fine powder). Turmeric powder : 100 gm (fine powder) Mangista powder : 100 gms White mustard powder : 100 gms ( Fry mustard lightly by adding 2 drops ghee and make powder) Kaavirai powder : 100 gms Cow’s ghee : sufficient Mix all powders, sieve in a fine cloth and store in a bottle. Usage:
Add little ghee to 2 to 3 spoons of above powder and apply to face in the form of thick paste. Let it dry and later wash. Benefits:
Pigmentation disappears within 2 to 3 months. Recipe No.4:
Extract tender neem tree leaves and make their paste with buttermilk. Apply this paste on pigmented skin areas during nights and wash them in the morning. If you cannot find tender neem leaves everyday, then buy neem oil and try alternate method. Recipe No.5: (with neem oil)
Collect 100 ml of neem oil, 50 gms of neem tree bark powder. Boil them in 200 ml of water until only oil remains and all
water evaporates. Store this oil in a glass bottle and every morning, massage the effected skin areas with this luke warm oil for 10 minutes and wash your skin after a while. Recipe No.6:
Also make juice from a red onion and add a pinch of salt to it. Apply this mixture on the effected skin during nights and wash it in the morning.

Mix all these ingredients in a glass of water and cosume it thrice a day. This will clear all stomach and intestines related problems. Earache : Collect 5 gms of white layer subtstance found of
leaves of Gigantic Swallow Wort (Madaar in Hindi, Jilledu in Telugu, Arka in Sanskrit, Vellai Erukku in Tamil) and mix it with 25 ml of mint leaves juice. Use them like ear drops (4 drops twice a day) and it will kill all germs in ear and give relief from earache.
Fear of Abortion : If women have fear of abortion during
pregnancy due to weakness or past experiences, they can use this method. Collect fresh mint leaves and dry them under shade. Make their fine powder and store in a glass bottle. Everyday 2 gms of this powder (thrice a day) through nostrils and it will protect your embryo. Low menstrual bleeding : Women who have this
problem can make fresh mint juice (6 table spoons) twice a day and have it with or without sugar(choice for taste). This will regulate menstrual bleeding. Bleeding mouth or nose : Due to excess heat in body,
few persons bleed through nose or gums. They should have fresh mint leaves juice (100 ml) mixed with with candy sugar. Depending on intensity of their problem, they can have this juice 2 or 3 times per day.

These leaves are used to blacken the white slates. They can also convert grey hair into black color naturally. Ingredients :
1. Tridax daisy leaves – 200 gms. 2. Eclipta Alba (Bhringraj) leaves – 200 gms. 3. Black sesame seeds oil – 200 gms. Preparation :

Jock itch usually responds promptly to treatment. It is often less severe than other tinea infections, but may last a long time. Infection usually stays around the creases in the upper thigh and does not involve the scrotum or penis. Jock itch may spread to the anus, causing anal itching and discomfort. Do not scratch the infected area even if it is itchy. Apply the above prescribed paste and wear only loose cotton pants or shorts during nights and keep the area dry and clean. Hair in ayurveda is defined as the mala or inferior byproduct of Asthi dhatu. Hairfall can occur due to many reasons such as dandruff, pollution, lack of proper and regular diet, constipation, hereditary hairfall by aging, depression, major sickness like typhoid, pregnancy and childbirth etc. For recovering hair at initial levels of balding, ayurveda suggests Kesh Ghrita to be applied twice a week on scalp. For advanced stages of baldness, only surgical methods like hair transplant may work. Also, hair regrowth is very difficult after you cross 40 years of age. So, try this method if you are below 40 and experiencing frequent hairfall. Ingredients to prepare Kesha Ghrita : •

Procedure : Mix all these powders and make a paste with
water. Take 25 gms of pure cow ghee and boil the above paste along with this ghee till the water is evaporated and only ghee remains with essential contents of these powders. The ratio of ghee and powders should be 2:1 (for 50gms of total mixed powders, add 25 gms of cow ghee). Filter this ghee and store it in a glass bottle. Depending on your necessity, increase the powders and ghee according to above ratio. Usage : Take 2-3 spoons of this ghee and make it
lukewarm. Wash your hands thoroughly and dry them. Apply this warm ghee onto scalp with your finger tips, especially in areas where you are experiencing more hairfall. Let the ghee sink into your scalp skin and wash it with mild shampoo or shikai powder after an hour. Repeat this process twice or thrice a week and do not apply any other oil or hair creams or gels during this treatment. Benefits : Existing hair roots will be strengthened and
also hair will smell good and become smooth without having to apply any additional conditioners or perfumes. Hair will regrow from recently closed pores on the scalp and also all scalp related diseases like dandruff etc will be eliminated.

Soak the rita seed in warm water and squeeze out the juice . Add to this amla powder,shikakai powder and aloe vera juice and use as regular shampoo. Khus-khus Shikakai shampoo
1) Shikakai 1 kg 2) Bengal gram (chana dal) ¼ kg 3) full green gram (moong) ¼ kg 4) poppy seeds (khus-khus) ¼ kg 5) fenugreek (methi seeds) 100 gms 6) horse gram 100gms Method: Make sure the ‘Shikakai’ is dry or else dry it in the sun. Take all the ingredients to a mill and get them ground. Store in an airtight container when cool. Take 2½ tablespoons for 1 wash of long hair, 1½ tablespoons for shoulder length hair or 1½ teaspoons for very short hair and mix it with enough water to make a thick liquid of shampoo constituency. Apply on wet scalp and hair and rub all over nicely. After 2 minutes rinse properly with lots of water and make sure no lumps are left on the hair or scalp. Chamomile Fields Shampoo
The Ingredients: * 4 bags of Chamomile tea (or 1 handful of fresh Chamomile flowers) * 4 tablespoons pure soap flakes * 1 1/2 tablespoons glycerin* Let the tea bags steep in 1 1/2 cups of boiled water for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and with the remaining liquid add the soap flakes. Let stand until the soap softens. Stir in glycerin until mixture is well blended. Pour into a bottle. Make a paste by mixing olive oil, honey and cinnamon (dal chini) powder. Massage on the scalp and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash with a mild shampoo. Repeat it for 3-4 times a week. Make a paste by grinding fenugreek seeds with water. Massage on the scalp after oiling the hair and leave it for one hour before washing. Repeat it every morning for a month. Make a paste by mixing two eggs, two tablespoons each of amla, reetha and shikakai powder. Massage on the scalp and leave it for 30 minutes. Wash with a mild shampoo. Repeat it for 3-4 times a week. Drink 1 teaspoon cider vinegar mixed in 1 glass of water with meals for 2-3 weeks. Drink a smoothie of banana, honey, yogurt, and skim milk. Drink daily a juice of alfalfa + fresh spinach or fresh coriander. Your hair will grow fast.

Apply and leave for ½ an hour before washing.Oil hair well before going to bed. Next morning mix 1 tspn limejuice with ½ tspn salt. Rub this on the scalp with the peel of a lime turned inside out. Leave for 1 hour before shampooing. 3) About 10-15 minutes before you wash your hair, rub a lot of aloe vera gel into your scalp. leave it on for 10 minutes, and shampoo your hair like you regulary do. if you do this everyday the dandruff will stay away. 4) Using lime juice to wash hair. 5) Massage your hair with warm coconut oil and apply the juice of 2 lemons, lemons, steam your hair and leave the oil on for for about 2 hours. This is a simple, and effective remedy against hair loss. 3) Boil Henna leaves in mustard oil till they are burnt, the oil can be filtered. A regular massage of this oil is helpful. 4) Seeds of lime and black pepper ground together to a fine paste helps treat patchy baldness. 5) Apply coconut milk all over the scalp and massage into roots. 6) Scrub the area of patchy baldness with onions untill it becomes red. Follow up by applying honey over this patch. 7) Trim the hair every 4 to 5 weeks even if you are growing it.
8 ) Avoid rubber bands, sharp clips, spiky brushes and do not brush hair when it is wet. 9) The juice of leaves of bhongra massaged into the head is an effective hair tonic to check falling hair. 10) The paste made from powdered seeds of shana with coconut/sesame/castor oil is used as a hair tonic. 11) The juice of kanta karika mixed with honey applied to the head acts as a hair tonic. 12) The oil extracted from rohisa, briskly rubbed into the head encourages the new growth. 13) The oil extracted from the seeds of sagvan is massaged on the head to check premature loss of hair.

The medical
term for excessive hair growth that affect both men and women is hypertrichosis. Male hormones such as testosterone stimulate hair growth, increase size and intensify the growth and pigmentation of hair. Food Restrictions :

Eclipta alba (Latin) (syn. Eclipta prostrata Latin), commonly known as False Daisy , yerba de tago, and bhringraj, is a plant belonging to the family Asteraceae.
Root well developed, cylindrical, greyish. It is known as ‘Bhringraj’ in sanskrit/hindi and ‘kehraj ‘ in Assamese and karisalankanni in Tamil. It grows commonly in moist places as a weed all over the world. It is widely distributed throughout India, China, Thailand, and Brazil. In ayurvedic medicine, the leaf extract is considered a powerful liver tonic, rejuvenative, and especially good for the hair. A black dye obtained from Eclipta alba is used for dyeing hair and tattooing. Eclipta alba also has traditional external uses, like athlete foot, eczema and dermatitis, on the scalp to address hair loss and the leaves have been used in the treatment of scorpion stings. It is used as anti-venom against snakebite in China and Brazil. Bhringraj helps to improve hair growth and colour. In india, it is grown along side of rice fields and its leaves are used in preparing food. Infact eclipta alba extracts are known to grow hair faster than minoxidil. Oil made with mixture of bhringraj’s juice helps hair growth and prevents premature greying. Bhringraj (eclipta alba) oil for thick natural color hair
Extract 1 litre juice from eclipta alba’s leaves, 1 litre pure coconut oil, 1 litre Amla (india gooseberry) juice, biryani leaves (100gms) and boil them together till all water in these juices is evaporated and only oil remains with extracts of these herbs. Filter the herbal extracts(if any) after the oil cools down and store this oil in a glass bottle / jar. Applying this oil everyday, atleast 1 hour before washing your hair will stop premature greying, arrest hairfall and also increase hair length quicker.
Bhringraj Kohl(Kajal/Surma/ಕಡಗ ಕಡ ಗ /కటు / protection
) for eye
Collect equal amounts of bhringraj leaves juice, Trianthema decandra juice, drumstick leaves juice, bittergourd leaves juice and mix off them in a brass plate. Let this mixture dry under sun. After water evaporates, only powder remains in plate. Collect this wet paste in a thin cotton white cloth and roll it like a light wick. Now lit this wick after dipping this wick in cow ghee. Place a copper plate on top of this lamp so that all its heat is collected as black deposit under that copper plate. After the wick completely burns out, collect that black deposit under the copper plate using a dry strong leaf (example: palm leaf) and drop it in that copper plate. Add lime juice and mix it thoroughly and then let it remain for 24 hours. Next day, store this Kohl in a small box/tin and apply it every night before sleep as you apply kohl/kajal/surma. This will clear all eye related diseases, sight problems and give glow to eyes. Bhringraj oil for head related ailments
Add 200 ml of bhringraj leaves juice, 200 gms of cow ghee, 10 gms of robustal berries powder, yashtimadhuka powder 10 gms and boil them until only cow ghee remains. After cooling down, filter out the herbs and store this oil. Put 3-4 drops of this oil(warm) in nostrils every morning by bending your neck back and breath deeply. This will elimate almost all ailments that emerge inside head and above neck. Massaging this oil will also makes nerves stronger and avoid frequent numbness at any part of the body.

Collect 250 ml of eclipta alba leaves juice, 50 ml of Amla juice, 50 ml of garlic garlic juice and mix them. them. Seperately collect equal amount of ajwain seeds, vasa(Adhatoda vasica), black pepper, cloves and crush them to make 50 gms powder. Boil 500 ml of goat milk and 500 ml of oil extracted from cockscomb seeds and add above 50 gms powder while boiling. 19-Thyroid Ayurvedic and Yoga treatment
The thyroid gland is situated in the front of the neck and produces a hormone thyroxine which plays a very important role in regulating the general metabolism of the body. When it is defective, the conditions known as myxoedema (in adults) and cretinism (in children) result. An excess of its secretion is associated with a condition known as exophthalmic goitre or thyrotoxicosis or Grave’s disease. 1. Hyperthyroidism or thyrotoxicosis: in which the gland secretes excess of hormones. This condition is more common in women than in men whose age ranges from 30 to 50 years. Thyrotoxit individuals become tremulous, irritable, anxious and even hysterical. Because the metabolism is raised, they experience rapid heart rate and palpitation, rapid shallow respiration. Frequent bowel motions and diarrhoea, Flushing, heat intolerance, sweating, menstrual disturbance and sometimes bulging of the eyes. Such people suffer the paradoxical situation in which they feel fatigue and lack of energy and yet are compelled to move about, talk and do things. They are constantly fidgeting and the slightest remark may set off an inappropriately angry response. 2. Hypothyroidism : here the thyroid is underactive, producing too little thyroid hormone. This condition is far more common than hyperthyrodism and can be caused by iodine deficiency or thyroid failure brought on by pituitary dysfunction, inflammation, and scarring. By far the majority of cases are mild or borderline, unrecognized by the medical establishment. Yet these mild cases can be the cause of vague, but persistent, disorders such as fatigue, depression, loss of vitality, and overall hormonal imbalance. More severe problems from hypothyroid are the
result of failure to develop properly, such as cretinism and juvenile myxodema. Long term hypothyroidism, such as adult myxodema, which is characterized by swelling of skin and subcutaneous tissues; dry, cold and slightly yellow skin, puffy face, loss of eyebrows, anginal pain, bradycardia, anorexia, constipation, and anemia. To cure this, yoga and ayurveda suggests the following methods which can be followed at home. YOGA ASANA and MANTRA for THYROID problem:
Get up early in the morning before sun rise. Sit down in PADMASANA on the floor. Choose a pleasant place for this. Pronounce the mantra “OM HRUM SWAHA” loudly. Do it every day, this clears your throat. Long before medical science ever knew about the existence of thyroid glands, yogis had devised practices, which not only maintained healthy glands and metabolism, but also were part of a system of enlightenment. Sarvangasna (shoulder stand) is the most suitable and effective asana for the thyroid gland. An enormous pressure is placed on the gland by this powerful posture. As the thyroid has one of the largest blood supplies of any body organ, this pressure has dramatic effects on its function, improving circulation and squeezing out stagnant secretions. After sarvangasana, we should perform matsyasana, and from sarvangasana we can practice halasana. All these practices positively result in better health of the thyroid gland. At the same time, all these practices should be avoided in severe thyroitoxicosis, physical debility or a goitre that is enlarged very much, where medical therapy is obviously the first line of treatment to be given. However, adding iodine once again to the diet is the first
obvious step. Other effective asanas include Surya Namskara, Pavamuktasana with emphasis on the head and neck exercises, yoga mudra, Suptavajrasana and all backward bending asanas. The most effective Pranayama for thyroid problems is Ujjayi. It acts on the throat area and its relaxing and stimulating effects are most probably due to stimulation of ancient reflex pathways within the throat area, which are controlled by the brainstem and hypothalamus. This practice also gives us direct access into the pranic and psychic net work, the substructure of metabolic activity. Nadi shodhana pranayama is useful in re-balancing metabolism. AYURVEDIC REMEDY for THYROID 1:
Mix AMLA(indian gooseberry) CHURNAM(paste) with Honey and eat it early in the morning before breakfast. AYURVEDIC REMEDY for THYROID 2:
Cow urine is an excellent remedy. Have a small quantity of freshly collected cow urine(should be a local breed cow) early in the morning. Drink it immediately. Repeat this for 30-45 days nonstop till you see improvement in your thyroid gland. AYURVEDIC REMEDY for THYROID 3:
A fine paste made of the vegetable jalakumbhi (Pistia straticies) applied over the affected part helps in reducing the swelling. The juice obtained from the jalakumbhi should be given in doses of 11 to 22 gm a day. It increases the amount of iodine, the lack of which, according to Allopathy, is one of the factors responsible for the disease. Coconut oil offers much promise today to sufferers of hypothyroidism and slow metabolism.
It is a known fact that the fatty acid chains in coconut oil, known as medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs) or medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), offer wonderful health benefits and are no where found more abundantly in nature outside coconut oil. For the hypothyroid sufferer the MCTs rev up the body’s sluggish metabolism.
20-Insomnia – Ayurvedic and Yoga Treatment
Insomnia can be a rather unpleasant condition especially if it lasts for long periods of time. Find out what you can do to make sleepless nights a distant memory using ayurvedic treatment and yoga methods. Insomnia is more common than we think. Due to the stressful lives we all live many of us find that sometimes we are unable to fall asleep or that our sleep is continually interrupted for no apparent reason. The quality of our sleep also suffers and we might find that our functionality is slightly impaired after a sleepless night. Although we can suffer from insomnia at any age it seems that this symptom becomes more prevalent as we age. There are different types of insomnia depending on the severity of the symptoms. If symptoms last less than a week we suffer from transient insomnia,which is the least severe form of insomnia. If insomnia persists between one and three weeks it is classified as short-term insomnia. Symptoms that last for more than three weeks are characteristic for long term insomnia. Among the most common symptoms of insomnia are : – irritability,inability to concentrate, fatigue or diminished performance at school or at work.
Ayurveda does not dictate eight hours of sleep every night for everyone, but quality of sleep and quantity of sleep required by an individual to completely recharge in mind,body and soul are considered crucial for health, bliss and longevity. (1) What is Insomnia?
1. Insomnia is a sleep disorder in which a person experiences poor sleep or has trouble sleeping. Insomnia can involve: 2. Difficulty falling asleep 3. Difficulty staying asleep (that is, waking up many times during the night), without necessarily having had any difficulty falling asleep 4. Waking up too early in the morning 5. Not feeling refreshed after a night’s sleep 6. In any of these cases the person feels tired the next day, or feels as if he or she did not have enough sleep. (2)Ayurvedic Interpretation of Insomnia
Ayurveda generally views insomnia as a typical sign of nervous distress, usually associated with vata type emotions such as nervousness, anxiety, hypersensitivity, excess thought and worry, and may be precipitated by a history of constipation, irregular digestion and eating habits, and systemic dryness. Insomnia can be brought on by stress, excessive thinking, drugs or stimulants, excess travel, overwork or an irregular schedule and lack of routine. Essentially, it is a symptom of excessive movement.
Research has shown that people with insomnia are in a state of hyperarousal, with increased levels of cortisol and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). This is hard on the mind and body and will weaken them over time, thus creating greater sensitivity and often increasing the intensity and frequency of insomnia. (3) Dietary Treatments for Insomnia
A healthy diet can help in getting a good restful sleep at night. The following guidelines must be obeyed:1. For people who constantly suffer from insomnia problems, heavy foods must be avoided. If the person needs to have a heavy meal, then it must be taken at least three to four hours before retiring to bed. A walk after dinner helps to digest the food and bring good sleep at night. 2. A glass of milk before bedtime is good for sleep. Butter and ghee are also considered to be sleep-inducers. 3. As far as possible, spicy and oily foods must be avoided after dusk, especially if the person is prone to lose sleep at night. (4) Ayurvedic Remedies for Insomnia
Here are some ayurvedic suggestions for falling asleep easily and naturally and for obtaining a more rejuvenating quality of sleep: - Since human beings are diurnal creatures, following Nature’s pattern of sleep and wakefulness for us means rising with the sun or shortly before, and getting into bed early-no later than 9.45 p.m. Getting up before 6 a.m. is ideal, and 6-10 p.m. is the Kapha time of the evening,
when sleep will come most easily. Follow this routine at the weekend as well. - Arise and go to bed at about the same times each day. This helps your body and mind relax as the appointed bedtime approaches, and over time it conditions your physiology to fall asleep at that time. - Ayurveda decrees morning the best time to exercise. If you exercise in the morning, it will help you fall asleep easier at night. Working out late in the day is not recommended as this will raise energy levels and set you up for activity rather than sleep. Exercise moderately, according to the needs of your constitution, every day. - Do not eat a heavy dinner, and avoid spicy foods at night. Ayurveda recommends a light dinner eaten at least three hours before bed. A one-dish meal of a vegetable soup or mung bean kitcheree/kichdi is noursishing yet not too heavy. Do not drink too much water or other beverages after 6.30 p.m. Drink a cup of warm milk at bedtime to help lull you into sleep. Lace the milk with a large pinch of nutmeg for Vata, cardamom for Pitta and dried ginger for Kapha. - A lower limb massage last thing before you get into bed is also a pleasant, relaxing activity and helps improve sleep quality. Use a light, non-staining oil such as sweet almond or jojoba. Your bedtime massage oil can be spiced up with a few drops of essential oil of lavender if you like6-8 drops for 2 oz. of base oil. Take a very small quantity of the oil in your palm and massage your lower legs, from your knees to your toes, and your lower arms, from your elbows to your fingertips, with easy up-and-down strokes. In most general cases, medication is not necessary to treat insomnia. The Ayurvedic consultant would first ascertain
the cause of the sleeplessness and then eliminate it. This is enough to bring sleep. But if sleeplessness persists, then medicines made from brahmi, vacha, jatamansi and amalaki are prescribed. They are provided in powder form, either collectively or separately. Massaging the head with sesame oil is also beneficial in treating sleeplessness. (5) Home Remedies for Insomnia
1. Take a glassful of celery juice and mix a teaspoonful of honey in it. Have this every night before going to bed. It will assure a restful sleep throughout the night. 2. Grind some fried cumin seed to a fine powder. Mix them with the pulp of a ripe banana. Eating this at night induces sleep. 3. Mix the juice of the leaves of the Indian sorrel with its oil in equal contents. This is to be stored in a bottle. Massage this oil into the scalp every night before going to bed. It will cool the brain down and help get good sleep. 4. For people suffering from chronic insomnia, there is a therapy known as shirodhara, which can be done at home. Boil about two liters of cows milk with 60 grams of amalaki/Amla (Emblica officinalis, Indian gooseberry) powder. The milk with curdle. Churn this curd by adding water and extract butter from it. Make the patient lie flat on the ground on a mat. Suspend the buttermilk from an earthen pot with a hole in its base, such that the buttermilk drips directly between the two eyebrows of the person on the ground. Continue this therapy for about twenty minutes. Within a few days the insomnia will be totally cured.
5. The best way to treat insomnia is to seek a change in the lifestyle. Make your life simpler and avoid tensions and worries. This will not only provide good sleep, but it will also keep the body free from several other diseases and infections. (6) Herbal Support for Insomnia
Tagara (Valerina Wallichii) -A Useful Herb For Insomnia Tagara has an important place among medicinal herbs in Ayurveda.. It is one of the herbs mentioned in all scriptures of Ayurveda. In Dhanvantari Nighantu and Bhavaprakasha its activity is cited on the central nervous system. Tagara is beneficial for the eyes, alleviates the diseases of the head, works as an anti- toxin, antiepileptic, useful in hysteria and also destroys the evil powers. This drug is very useful in the case of insomnia. Acharya Charaka has mentioned Tagara as ‘Shitaprashamana’ (relieves cold sensation on the skin) drug. Bhavaprakasha mentioned Tagar under ‘Karpooradi varga’. Ayurvedic Properties Tagara is bitter, pungent, sweet and astringent in taste (rasa) pungent in the post digestive effect (vipaka) and has hot potency (virya). It alleviates all the three doshas. It possesses light (laghu) and oily (snigdha) attributes. It is antieptleptic, analgesic and is beneficial for eyes. Tagar is Mastishkashamaka, Hridya Utejka and reduces blood pressure in larger doses. It is very useful in the patients of Insomnia. Pharmacological Action Analgesic Laxative

The quality of your sleep will improve because of the stimulatory effect yoga has on the nervous system, and in particular the brain. The practice of certain yoga postures will increase the blood circulation to the sleep center in the brain, which has the effect of normalizing the sleep cycle. - You will need less sleep because yoga increases the elimination of toxins from the body and rejuvenates the entire body right down to cellular level. The practice of breathing allows for more oxygen in the body providing clarity in the mind. - It has been claimed that on average, for every minute you put into yoga you will need one minute less sleep. This makes yoga an excellent time investment.

Wild bael fruit tends to have more tannin than the cultivated ones; tannin depletes the body of precious nutrients, and evidence suggests it can cause cancer. Medicinal and Spiritual values : The bael fruit is more
popular as medicine than as food. The Yajur Veda mentions the bael tree, but the Charaka Samhita, an Ayurveda treatise from the 1st millennium BC, was the first book to describe its medicinal properties. Hindu scriptures abound in references to the bael tree and its leaves. The devotees of Lord Shiva commonly offer bael leaves to the deity, especially on Shivaratri; this probably explains why bael trees are so common near temples. Hindus also believe that ghosts live on bael trees. Another belief associates its leaves to goddess Lakshmi. The unripe fruit is described as astringent and is used in combination with bela and other medicines in diarrhoea and dysentery. The ripe fruit is said to be useful in hiccup and affections of the throat. The leaves are aromatic and carminative. The fruit is much used in India as a liver and
cardiac tonic, and, when unripe, as an astringent means of halting diarrhea and dysentery and effective treatment for hiccough, sore throat and diseases of the gums. The pulp is poulticed onto bites and stings of venomous insects, as is the powdered rind. Leaves, bark, roots and fruit pulp are all used against snakebite. The seed oil is a purgative, and the leaf juice mixed with honey is a folk remedy for fever. The tannin-rich and alkaloid-rich bark decoction is a folk cure for malaria. The pulp, taken complete with the seed and fibre, is prescribed as a remedy for irritable bowel syndrome in Sinhalese Medicine. Soya beans can also be used but many don’t like the raw taste of soya, and prefer almonds. Almonds can be used raw, made milk from it and also oil is used on skin and in food too. Almonds are 2 types, sweet and bitter. Bitter ones are to be avoided as they contain a poison called prussic acid . Only sweeter almonds are to be used. Almond Milk (Badam Milk) recipe
Since almonds cannot be digested with their outer layer, we have to soak them in hot water for 2-3 hours before and then peel off the brown skin. Take 0.25 kg of grinded almonds and make a paste by adding 0.75 litre of cool water. Mix them till you see milk color water and then add enough sugar or candy sugar for sweetness and regrind. For 0.25 kg of almond paste, you can make 1 litre of almond milk.

Almond milk can be used to make yogurt(curd) and even almond cheese can be extracted from it. For kids who cannot digest cow milk or buffallow milk, almond milk can be used as best alternative. This has more protien than animal milk. Almonds have 58.9% fat and most of it is ‘unsaturated fat’ which will make sure that excess cholestrol is not formed in blood. Also, Almonds doesn’t have carbohydrates, so diabetic patients can also use this milk without adding sugar. Ayurvedic cure for Melasma
Melasma, or brown spots, is a common skin condition in which the skin pigment melanin is unevenly distributed in the skin. Melasma can affect anyone, although women with brownish-skin complexions are at higher risk. It can be caused due to excessive exposure to sunlight, lack of melanin or vitamin-D in skin, excessive or uneven usage of birth control pills, homone replacement therapy and also during pregnancy. Genetic predisposition is also a
major factor in determining whether someone will develop melasma. The incidence of melasma also increases in patients with thyroid disease. It is thought that the overproduction of melanocyte-stimulating melanocyte-stimulatin g hormone (MSH) brought on by stress can cause outbreaks of this condition. Other rare causes of melasma include allergic reaction to medications and cosmetics. By using natural methods below , you can reduce or completely cure Melasma in 7-9 months maximum. Step 1 Gently massage the affected areas with aloe vera gel. Aloe vera contains a potent substance called mucilaginous polysaccharide (MPS), which softens and lightens brown spots and other discolorations. Apply the aloe vera gel to the affected areas and massage in circular motions for 15 minutes and leave on overnight. Aloe vera gel can be purchased at any health-food store near you. Step 2 Rub an oatmeal-and-milk mixture to the affected areas every day. Oatmeal is a natural skin-exfoliating substance, which can lighten skin discolorations such as melasma. Mix one cup of uncooked oats and a 1/2 cup of milk and massage directly on the affected areas. Leave the oat-andmilk mixture on your skin for about 30 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel. Step 3 Apply turmeric paste to the affected areas every day. Curcumin is the active ingredient of turmeric spice, which has antioxidant and skin-lightening properties. Mix five-tosix tablespoons of turmeric powder to 10 tablespoons of
milk. Add one tablespoon of gram flour to thicken the mixture so it’ll be easier to apply to the skin. Gently massage the paste into the affected areas and leave on for about 30 minutes; rinse off and pat dry. Step 4 Massage honey-and-almond paste to the affected skin every day. The proteins contained in honey and almonds have a skin-lightening effect on the skin. Add one cup of raw unsalted almonds into a blender with a 1/2 cup of honey. Blend the mixture until it turns into a paste. Gently rub the mixture onto the affected skin and leave on for about 30 minutes; rinse off and pat dry. Step 5 Apply lemon juice on the affected skin every day. Lemons contain citric acid, which can naturally lighten hair and skin. Wash your hands and squeeze a fresh lemon on the affected areas; gently rub and leave on for 20 minutes. You can apply lemon juice prior to applying any of the remedies mentioned above. Step 6 Take seeds of onion and make a paste of them with water and apply this paste on effected area and wash it after it dries. Step 7 Extract juice from fresh tulasi leaves and mix camphor powder in it. Apply this thick juice on effected area and wash it after it dries. Step 8
Take 2 spoons of Triphala Churnam and add it to 300 ml of water. Let it soak overnight. Next morning boil this water till you get 100 ml of brown color water mixed with triphala churnam. Now filter the powder below and use this warm water to clean the effected area gently and later apply above pastes. Food to eat : 1.Take 1 spoon triphala churnam with honey every night before sleep and every morning on empty stomach. 2. Make juice of beetroot+carrrot+cucumber+honey and have 2 glasses (500 ml) before breakfast (atleast 1 hour after taking triphala churnam as said above) Food to avoid : Tamarind, spicy and masala food, garlic,
brinjal, green chillies, curd or yogurt, buffallow milk (should use only cow milk), liquour, sugarcane, eggs, fish, chicken. Also avoid exercise in heat, birth control pills and stay away from sexual activities till it is cured.

Usage: Use this oil in warm condition to massage those organs having excess fat before one hour of taking bath. Benefits: Prickly flower oil penetrates into the flesh and burns the excess fat and also relieves from all the skin problems. Recipe No.2: Tooth Powder:
Make powder of 100 gm Prickly flower seeds and sieve. Add 10 gm salt powder and store in a bottle. If one brushes his teeth with this powder, teeth will strengthen and also whiten. Worms in the teeth will die and decayed teeth get set right. Recipe No.3: Respiratory problems:
- If Prickly flower root powder or seeds powder is stuffed in a smoking pipe and its smoke is breathed in, cough and Asthma is relieved. - Dry entire Prickly flower plant, fry it to powder. Add 2 times equal quantity of sugar and take 3 gms three times a day. Phlegm, breathlessness, continued cough, heaving etc. will be relieved. Use less quantity if used for children. Take red Prickly flower leaves juice 50 gm and cow’s ghee : 50 gm together. Bleeding piles will subside. Avoid food items causing excess heat. Recipe No.7: Lean Personalities:
Take the bark of Prickly flower tree and add equal quantity of pepper powder and prepare small balls (like big size homeo pills) and dry them in shade. Melt one ball in mother’s milk and give it to the baby for licking. Lean babies grow fast and turn to develop good personality. Recipe No.8: Stoppage of children dying immediately after delivery:
Take Prickly flower leaves, saha devi tree roots and pepper in equal parts, grind them to paste, make balls of pepper size and dry them in shade. Give one pill to children after melting it in mother’s milk. Children will grow nicely. This will be specially helpful for those mothers, whose children die immediately after delivery. Boil till foam disappears and then remove. Store after it cools. Usage: Apply warm oil to the scalp every 3 days. After taking head bath do not sleep day time. Method No.6: Headache balm : -
Add 100gm bees wax to 100gm of Viswamitra tailam after placing it on SIM flame. Stir till ointment/cream is formed. Store after cooling it. Apply balm to head region, knee pain, neck pain, etc. Method No.7:
Boil 100gm. Naatu cow’s ghee. Add one fist full sebja leaves. Boil till the leaves blacken. Filter the ghee and store. Place the ghee in a dropper bottle and put 3 drops in nostrils before half and hour of taking food. Gives good results for headaches. Method No.8:

Visualise that all the excess heat from your head is dissipated. Visualise locks of silky, shinking hair growth in the bald portion without any bald patches. Do this for 10 minutes daily. Tonsure the entire head and do the following: i) Apply raddish juice with a cotton cloth by stretching the skin where bald is present so that the applied juice enters the blocked roots of the hair. Apply juice round the head and on the patches of hair loss before going to bed. Take bath early in the morning with Ayurvedic shampoo. ii) Put 2 droops of sesame oil in the nostrils and breathe in. Due to this the closed pores of the root ends of hair that was lost will reopen and hair regrows. iii) Repeat the tonsure process once again after 15 days and apply raddish juice and nose drops as mentioned above. Benefits: Within 3 to 6 months hair regrows again in the bald portions. Recipe No.3: Kalabanda hair oil:
Kalabanda gujju : 1/4 kg. Coconut oil : 1/4 kg. Mix the above and boil on SIM flame till oil remains. Before removing from flame add a fistful of maruvam/davanam.
Before the leaves turn black, remove from flame, filter and store. Usage:

i) Wrap wet cloth around head. Wrap one dry cloth over it and on the top one thikck bed sheet. Excess heat is removed, head gets warmed and the closed roots will reopen. ii) Apply neem oil or mustard oil by Nasya karma iii) Apply hair oil atleast two times a week. Use Bringraj hair oil or kalbanda hair oil or usirika hairoil or coconut oil
till the oil reaches roots. Gently massage and wrap one cloth. Take head bath with soap nut or seeka kaya early in the morning. iv) Soak 5 pieces triphalas (Taanikaaya, usirikaya, karakkaya) over night. Apply the filtered water to head and comb the hair. Hair fall stops and hair regrows. v) Apply onion juice with cotton cloth on the bald patches and gently massage. Take bath after it is dried. vi) Make paste of onion seeds powder by grinding with water. Apply the paste on the bald patches and take bath after it dries. Recipe No.6:
Take boorugu jiguru (gum), nela taadi dumpalu and tamara ginjalu in equal proportion, make pieces, dry and make powder and store. Take little powder grind it with water and apply the paste to the bald portion. Wait for one hour and wash. Do this for 2 to 3 times a week till the hair restarts growing.

Maredu (Apple wood or Aegle marmelos) / Bilva fruit powder ; 100 gm Cow’s urine : ½ lt Goat’s milk : ¼ lt Sesame/Gingelly oil : ¼ lt. Boil cow’s urine on SIM flame. When it is boiling, add maredu powder and boil till one fourth remains. Filter the same and add goat’s milk and sesame oil and boil once again till oil remains. Filter and store the oil. Usage:
Put 4 drops oil with cotton and gently massage front and back portions of ear. Put both index fingers in both ears and breathe in air with mouth and do the gargling exercise with air without opening lips and with cheeks bulging and contracting. Benefits:
Ear problems due to vata, pitta, kapha will be eliminated. Recipe No.5:
Oil for pus formation in ear: Filter 75 gm white raddish juice (mullangi) and add 250 gm sesame oil, 10 gm vamu (little crushed) and 10 gm turmeric. Place all the above contents in a vessel and put it on SIM flame till oil remains. Continue stirring till end. Filter the oil and store. Usage:
Put 2 to 3 drops oil in warm condition to the ear having pus. Recipe No.6:
Apply steam of 2 fist full of neem leaves, little turmeric boiled in water to the ear, throat, nose. Foment the water on the ear and its surroundings with a cloth. Benefits:

Ayurvedic cure for Sinusitis
Recipe No.1: Yoga, Praanaayaam and tips:
1) Suryabedhana Praanaayam : Close the left nostril, breathe in with right and breathe out with left. Do this for 15 to 20 min. 2) Surya Bhastrika: Close the left nostril, breathe in slowly with right nostril and breathe out through right nostril. 3) Surya kapalabhati: Close the left nostril and breathe out with right nostril without putting effort to breathe in. 4) Avoid too hot and too cold foods. 5) Avoid sitting in AC rooms 6) If moving in cold season, give protection to ears by plugging with cotton. Do not sleep directly under the fan. 7) Massage with sesame oil on both sides of nose. 8 ) Mix candy sugar powder with diluted milk. Add little turmeric and drink. 9) Can take butter milk after adding turmeric, methi powder, onion juice. 10) Avoid taking bottle gourd, dosa, tomato, lady’s finger etc which increase kapha in the body. 11) Put two drops of neem oil in both nostrils before taking food in the night. The phlegm will come out from sinus region. Recipe No.2: Tulasi Tea:
Add 10 tulasi leaves, 10 pepper and 2 inch ginger piece (all crushed) to two cups of water and boil till one cup remains. Add one spoon candy sugar powder and drink it hot. Avoid taking bath or taking food till one hour. Can take two times a day.

Sinus problem will be eliminated. Recipe No.3; Gulabi Tailam:
Rose petals : 100 gm Sesame oil (til oil) : 100 gm When oil is boiling on SIM, add rose petals slowly. Boil till the petals blacken. Filter the oil and store. Put 3 to 4 drops in the nostrils in the morning and evening till the problem subsides. Benefits: Sinus problem is eliminated. Recipe No.4:
Take nasyam (powder) Lakshmi tulasi dried powder through each nostril. Benefits:

Add one litre of water and boil till half water remains. Filter the kashaayam and add 30 gm. old jaggery. Usage: Take kashaayam(soup) in warm condition early in the morning and do not eat till one hour. Benefits:

Karakkaya/haritaki powder : 10gm Nela vepa/nela vemu (Kalmegh or Creat) leaf powder : 10 gm Dhaniya powder : 10 gm Cloves : 15 gm Sunamukhi or Swarnamukhi powder : 40 gm Candy sugar powder : 120 gm Mix all the above powders and add honey to consistency and store in a glass bottle. Usage:
Start with 2 gm two times daily and gradually increase to 5 gm each time. Chew and suck the paste and drink water. Benefits:
All the waste material accumulated in stomach will pass out through urine/stools including that waste material stored in testicles. Recipe No.2:
Take equal parts of Kanuga seeds, amudam seeds, gachcha seeds. Grind them by adding vantamudam to th required consistency. Apply the paste on the swelled part and remove it next day morning. Do this daily till the swelling is eliminated. Recipe No.3:
Grind gadidagadapa leaves with amudam oil. Boil it on SIM and remove from flame. When it comes to bearable warmth, apply the paste on the swelling. Place cotton on
the testicles and wear underwear or gochi. Do this daily till the swelling decreases. Recipe No.4:
Grind the tobacco leaves along with the internal part of gachchakaya along with water to consistency and apply the paste to the swelled part. The swelling as well as pain decrease. Recipe No.5:
Grind the bark of stem of cotton tree along with sonthi powder by adding water to consistency and apply the paste to the effected part. The swelling reduces within a few days. Recipe No.6:
Grind poogranate leaves and apply the paste to the swelled part. The pullling sensation of nerves and pain in testicle will subside. Recipe No.7:
Take raw papaya and boil in a kummu (on the burning charcoal or husk). Grind it to paste and apply on the swelled part. The swelling decreases. Recipe No.8:
Crush drumstick leaves and boil along with castor oil. Take the boiiled leaves (crushed leaves and tie on swelled part. Remove early in the morning. Gradually swelling subsides. Recipe No.9:
Place moduga(Bastard Teak, Flame of the Forest) flowers on a cloth and tie it to the swelled testicle in the night. Swelling normalises after few days. Try any one possible and available method for few days. Don’t have to panic and try all methods at once.

Using chemical and ammonia based liquid hair dye is dangerous for scalp and hair health. You will lose hair quicker than normal. Using henna based powder hair dye will make hair dull and color will lose soon. Frequent re-coloring will make hair look more duller. So, here is a natural method to make long lasting hair dye using peel of layer over garlic. PROCEDURE to make natural hair dye :
1. Take garlic peel(outer skin like layer) in large quantity because on making ash it will come to small quantity. 2. Roast the garlic peel on a pan till it becomes black ash. 3. Filter the ash to get fine powder with a cotton cloth. 4. Add olive oil to this ash to make it just like hair die. 5. Preserve it for 7 days(do not store in refrigerator) in glass bottle in darkness. 6. After 7 days apply it to hair in the same way as hair die. Preferably apply it at evening times and have head bath next morning. 7. For still better results don’t do head bath the next day instead keep it like that for 2 to 3 days and then have a bath. This hair color will give natural black look to hair and will last for long period and also keeps hair healthy because of oilve oil mixture. Also add biotin, zinc, iron, iodine and protein supplements to your diet to keep hair healthy and in natural color.

Ayurvedic treatments for Mouth Ulcers
Grind the paipal (peepal) tree bark and leaves, add honey and apply the lep on the painful area. * Grind the Moolhati, harad, daruhaldi and chameli leaves and mix with honey. Apply this lep on the painful area. * In case of mouth ulcer caused due to vaata(heat), rub finely grounded rock salt.
* Make Quath with chameli, Giloy, raisins, patha, daruhaldi, harad, baheda and avala leaves, let it cool, add honey and drink it. * Add honey in Triphala decoction and do rinse the mouth with this solution. * Put rock salt in hot water and rinse the mouth. * Boil acacia gum in triple the quantity of water, sieve it and store it in a bottle. Apply this on the ulcers. * Apply banana juice on the child’s mouth early in the morning. This gives relief. * It is also beneficial to make the sit under the goat and let the milk streak fall directly in the mouth. This should be done early in the morning. * Cotton soaked in Glycerin is also very beneficial in this case. * Grind the roasted Suhaga nicely and add honey, apply this on the ulcers. * Take two parts of moolhati, pathani lodh, usva and black sesame seeds, one part roasted Suhaga, boil it one part water and make sugar syrup with sugar candy. Apply this thrice or four times daily to cure mouth ulcers. * Mix peppermint oil with glycerin and apply on the ulcers for quick relief. * Take equal quantities of praval pishti washed in rose water and Swarna makshik, wash it nicely and keep it aside. Give 25 mg to 125 mg depending on the age of the child and give it with pomegranate juice twice daily. * Make decoction with Triphala, patha, raisins and chameli leaves and give it to the child in reasonable quantity. * Take equal quantities of satvan bark, poppy seeds, sespedula leaves, nagarmotha, amaltas and red sandal.
Make a quath and give it to the patient. This is beneficial in case of mouth ulcers. * Make the decoction with daruhaldi, chameli flowers, raisins, thymol seeds and triphala, add honey and give it to the patient suffering with mouth ulcers. * Quath made with sespedula, dry ginger, triphala, indrayan roots, banphasha, kutaki, turmeric and Giloy add honey and give to the patient. * Sucking neem gum is also beneficial in this case. * Apply glycerin and let the saliva come out. * Suck the green leaves of arhar for quick relief in mouth ulcers. * Applying milk of Gular tree is also beneficial in this case. * Make the decoction with mogra leaves and rinse the mouth to cure mouth ulcers. * Make the decoction with green menhdi leaves and rinse the mouth twice or thrice for special relief in mouth ulcers. * Soak the raisins in water for some time then chew and eat. * Add salt in raw bitter gourd and keep it under the Sun. extract the juice and add it in water. Rinse the mouth with this water for quick relief in mouth ulcers.

Ayurvedic Recipe for Indigestion – Kasyapa Lehyam
This Ayurvedic medicine given below can be easily prepared in house using the commonly used kitchen spices which are easily available in the market. * Cumin seeds(Jeera) * Rock candy(Misri) * Ghee 1. Take 100 grams of Cumin seeds, fry it lightly. Now powder it. Keep it aside. 2. Take 100 grams of Rock candy. Powder it. keep it aside. 3. Now mix the Rock candy powder with one glass of water and boil it for 1 t0 2 minutes. After 2 minutes add the Cumin seeds powder which we kept aside and start mixing the solution while boiling. Add candy sugar powder to it and prepare thick syrup on SIM flame only. Add honey and lemon to the above and store in a bottle. Usage:

Dark circles below eyes and black spots on chin/cheeks will vanish with good change within 4 to 5 days.
Remedy for Arthritis and Joint Pains
Arthritis is caused by low bone marrow and usually effects knees. Best ayurvedic treatment for this is : Take Tamarind seeds and soak them in warm water overnight. In the morning the outer dark brown layer becomes soft and can be peeled off.
Inside it you can find light yellow shaded seed. Dry them under sunlight for a day and then make their powder. Fry this powder with cowghee for 5 minutes till it turns light brown in color. Store this powder in a glass jar at a dark place and consume 1/2 spoon of powder twice a day with 250 ml of milk. * Take Castor tree roots(1 kg) and grind and collect it in a vessel. * Add Pure water to it and place it on stove. * Boil it on slim fire till 1 kg of decoction is remaining and filter it to obtain decoction. * Place the decoction again on stove and add Castor oil to it. * Boil it on slim fire till only Castor oil remains.
* Again filter it and add fine powder of pepper, long pepper(pippali) and camphor to it. * Mix it properly and preserve it in a box with closed lid. * This recepe is called Eranda Thailam. USAGE:
* This oil can be used by those people who are suffering from joint pains, joint swellings etc. * Twice a day before taking bath take some oil and make it warm. * Massage it on the joints which are causing pains. * Regular exercise along with this massage will make joint pains disappear.
Natural Ayurvedic Contraceptive Methods
instead of consuming chemical based contraceptives and polluting the entire reproductions system of a woman or going for risky and expensive abortions, these Ayurvedic safe methods can be used to avoid pregnancy. 1. Take fresh castor seeds, break them, and you can find a white seed inside. Consume 1 seed within 72hrs. This works as natural i-pill or contraceptive. Better eat 3 such seeds on 3 days of menstruation and it works for next 1 month. Consuming 5 seeds for 5 continous day works as permanent family planning operation. 2. Dipping a piece of rock salt in gingelly oil and placing it in vagina for 100 seconds immediately after sex. This should be done within 2-5 mins after sex to ensure sperm dies before reaching womb.

Just before intercourse boil a glass of water and keep it ready Within 5 minutes after intercourse water will be lukewarm and with it have 1 spoon of pudina powder. It acts as natual contraceptive and women doesn’t get pregant. 4. Boil 500ml water with 50gm rocksalt in it and leave it aside. After sex, within 5 minutes wash vagina deeply with this lukewarm salt water. This will also kill the sperms. 5. The powder of long pepper, Embelia ribes, and lead oxide (Suhaga) in the dose of 1GM along with milk, should be taken during menstrual periods, to avoid pregnancy. 6. The paste of hibiscus flower along with starch taken during the first three days of menstruation acts as a contraceptive. 7. Take Rasanjanam (DARUHARIDRA or Berberis aristata),Haritaki(Terminalia chebula), Amla(Indian Gooseberry) in equal parts make powder and store. If the day of menstruation is counted as first, take 5 gm ofthis powder with cold water from 4th day to 16th day. Conception will be prevented. To be done every month.
Alopecia Areata and its Ayurvedic cure
Baldness in men and women is caused by various reasons like excess heat in body mixed with phlegm, pollution, chemical based shampoos and hair colors, stress and
strain, diseases like typhoid, metabolic changes in body during pregnancy, hereditary reasons etc. In earlier days baldness was mostly limited to men but recently it is becoming common in women too. Hairloss starts usually with hairline on forehead reciding backwards but sometimes it can start with a patch at center of skull or at top. These patches are due to Alopecia Areata, which is caused by bacteria and fungus at those areas destroying roots of hair. It usually happen in center of head and for few in any area of head and even on moustache and beard also. Excess heat in body caused by consuming heavy meat, excess spices, alchohol etc will reach to head through blood and destroy hair roots. Immediately blood along with phlegm over there will close the pores, disabling any option for hair to regrow. This continues to spread if there are bacteria and fungus on the skin and make Alopecia Totalis, which makes entire hair on that area fall off and it will never grow back. Alopecia Totalis is almost impossible to cure and the only way is surgical transplantation of hair if any hair is left on donor parts. Special Oil for curing Alopecia Areata
Take Triphala Churnam (300 gm), Bhringraj (Eclipta Alba) leaves juice (300 gm), Black Gingelly seeds oil (300gm) and mix them up. Boil this mixture till all the water in juice is evaporated and only gingelly oil mixed with other products is left. This looks in dark green color.
Now filter it after its cools down and store it in a bottle in a dark place. Apply this oil , every night in the area effected by alopecia areata and leave it overnight. In the morning wash off with Shikakai or Reetha powder only. Don’t use chemical based shampoos. Following this method for 10 days and you will see hair growth restarting on that bald patch. Duration depends on age and health factors. Tomato leaves and juice
Applying juice of tomato leaves on patch area daily with some force and consuming tomoato leaves juice (3 tea spoons) daily will help hair regrowth on bald patches. Tobaco Technique
Get good quality tobacco and make a powder of it. Add coconut oil to it till tobacco powder is totally wet with oil. Cloe the lid of container tightly and let the tobacco powder sink in for 2 days. After 2 days, squeeze the tobacco well into the oil and then filter it. Use this oil daily at nights as described above for Tripahala Churnam + Bhringaraj combination and this will erase all bacteria, fungus, dandruff etc on skin causing baldness.

intestines, genitals, rectum, pain during excretion. Immediate Cure : whenever patient feels sensations in
upper body, make him vomit. This can be done by warming water with rocksalt added in it and drinking half to one litre water and then after 5 minutes sitting on knees and bending head totally down, open your mouth wide and with two fingers press the base of tongue..warm salt water with wastage in stomach will be vomited out. When patient feels sensation below stomach, consume 50100ml of aamudam? oil and within sometime he will have free motion through intestines. If needed do both simultaneously. If patient is too weak, then avoid above processes and have only barley water. Permanent Cure :
Get Triphala Churnam and cassia fistula tree roots and mix in this ratio :- in 10gm triphala churnam mix 4 gm of ‘cassia fistula’ tree roots powder, and take 1 spoon of this powder and boil it in 1 glass of water. Let it boil till only half water remains and let it cool down.
Then mix 1 spoon sugar and 1 spoon honey in it and consume it. Pinto Beans in Whole Wheat Tortillas
1 cup pinto beans 4 cups water 1 bay leaf one pinch ground cardamom one pinch ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground coriander 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon ground turmeric 1/2 teaspoon ground fresh ginger 1 teaspoon Ghee salt to taste Soak beans overnight. Rinse and drain the next day. Add water and bring to boil, then reduce to a medium heat. Add bay leaf, turmeric, cinnamon, and cardamom. Continue cooking until beans are soft-about 1 hour. Pour off excess water if desired. In a separate sauce pan, melt
ghee. Add cumin, coriander, and ginger and saute briefly for about one minute until aroma is released. Add spices to beans. Add salt to taste. Beans can be roughly mashed if desired. Assemble 2 tablespoons beans, 1 tablespoon sour cream, 1 tablespoon shredded carrot, chopped cilantro leaves, and shredded lettuce inside a warmed soft whole wheat tortilla. Roll up. This recipe will make 8 roll-ups. Guacamole

Ekadasi (11th day of Lunar Cycle) Fasting for better living
Hindus are used to fasting on Ekadasi tithi (11th day of lunar cycle) to please lord Vishnu. Even in puranas we find many stories relating to the importance of fasting on this particular day only. This day comes when waning or waxing moon is in its 11th day of its 15 days cycle. Why did sages and our ancestors insist fasting only on this day? Why not on any other day like 7th or 8th ? Astrologically moon revolves around earth at the rate of 12 degrees per every 24 hours. This period of 12 degree travel is called a tithi. Moon when 180degrees away from Sun forms Fullmoon day and when conjoint with Sun forms Newmoon day. During these 2 cycles we have already seen many instances where newmoon and fullmoon shows its impact and magnetic power of sea tides and human minds.
Because human body is 80% water, its always under the influence of moon. It is also stated in Garuda Puranam that all 7 oceans are in human body itself.
