Apabila listrik statis yang terakumulasi cukup banyak akan menimbulkan beda tegangan listrik sehingga memungkinkan terjadinya loncatan bunga api.

`Avtur adalah salah satu jenis bahan bakar berbasis minyak bumi yang berwarna bening hingga kekuning-kuningan, memiliki rentang titik didih antara 145 hingga 300oC, dan digunakan sebagai bakar pesawat terbang.

Komposisi
Avtur yang dihasilkan dari proses pengolahan minyak bumi dengan trayek didih berkisar antara 150–250 ᵒC.
komposisi hidrokarbon terdiri dari :
Parafin : 33 – 61 % vol.
Olefin : 0,5 – 5 % vol.
Naften : 10 – 45 % vol.
Aromatik : 12 – 25 % vol.

Kestabilan avtur dalam pemakaian sangat diperlukan, sebab adanya perbedaan suhu yang cukup tinggi, cenderung dapat menimbulkan deposit dari hasil dekomposisi hidrokarbon pada sistem pembakaran selama mesin beroperasi.

Pembatasan ini berkaitan dengan : mutu bahan bakar, stabilitas pada penyimpanan dan pemakaian, serta sifat korosifitasnya.
