AUTOMATIC DOG FEEDER WITH MANUAL WATER DISPENSING SYSTEM: TESTING AND EVALUATION EVALUATION
A PROJECT PROJECT PROPOSAL PROPOSAL FOR ADVANCE ADVANCED D LOGIC DESIGN DESIGN
PREPARED BY:
NOEL BERDIN JEHU BASA RESTITUTO DICTADO
DECEMBER 2015
A. Backgrou! o" #$% %&'(#'g ()(#%*:
All automatic dog feeding systems on the market today use gravity hoppers or simple timer/motor combinations. For example the Petsafe 2 Meal Automatic Dog Feeder that has to separate trays ith separate timers that pop open at feeding time. !he Petmate "e #istro Automatic Dog Feeder is similar to the Perfect Petfeeder in its features. !o the best of our knoledge no systems utili$ing logic or any electronics beyond timers are currently available for purchase.
B. Problem Statement
Any pet need to be taken care and the oner need to be there to take care of them. %ome dog cannot control their diet and ill eat as long as there is food for them. Moreover& the dog supervision upon feeding and re'uires regular care in order to remain healthy especially hen the oner stays for a long vacation. !here are many di(erent designs and brands on automatic dog feeders on the market& but some limitations on the existing dog feeders need to be improved. A dog feeder ith ater system ould add a convenience to the pet to make some drink of clean ater. !hough some feeders are designed speci)cally to keep food dry& many designs allo moisture to seep into the food hopper. !his can cause clumping& and can result the failure of the mechanism. Failure to release an accurate amount of food to the dog ill result to astage or if it has a bigger diet& there is tendency that the food ill not be enough.
C. Objectives of the design !he primary ob*ective of this pro*ect is to create an Automatic Dog Feeder ith manual +ater Dispensing %ystem that aims to, -. !o ease the manual feeding of the dog oner. 2. !o have convenient dog feeding habit. . !o monitor the diet of the dog.
D. Signicance of the design
!he design ill aid in providing information in the development of an automatic dog feeder ith manual ater dispensing system. t helps to the student to apply their background knoledge on logic circuit applications upon using basic gates& sensors and any other electronic components that ould )ts to the design. Moreover& it enhanced their skills in bread boarding and pcb etching in pro*ect implementations. t helps them also to understand the basic applications of sensor related products today. Furthermore& creating the device ill help in promoting the school0s
technological advancement through the innovation of
di(erent kinds of devices. 1reating the device also identify the advantages and disadvantages on ho the dog behaves and react given an accurate food that ould a(ects their groth.
!his ill
also help other proponents to see if there is still ays to develop the device depending on ho it ill a(ect to the dog0s environment.
E: Scope and Limitations
!he scope covers the lists of capabilities that an automatic dog feeder
manual
ater
dispensing
system
can
perform
hile
limitations are the operations that the device is restricted to execute because it is outside the boundaries of the pro*ect. !his part of the design opens an inventor0s mind for further research study. !he scopes of the design includes the folloing, -. !he automation of the dog feeder ith manual ater dispensing system is mainly controlled by the use of logic gates. 2. ne container is controlled. ne container can be set to release a feeds at a time and the other container ill release ater if the dog licks it. . !he is turbine is connected to the servo motor if it reaches the set time it ill automatically turn on and release a food. !he limitations of the design includes the folloing, -. !he prototype is limited to the feeds you ant to feed. Dry feeding is recommended and fresh foods should be avoided. 2. !he design as capable of releasing feeds. !hus& it does not matter even if there are still foods on the container it ill still release feeds on the given time. t ill depend on the user to set time in order not overfeed the dog or turn the feeds into a aste. . !he device could not operate during bron out.
