Narrator: This is A is A Christmas Carol , a story about a bad man called Ebenezer Scrooge. (points at Scrooge) Today is the day before Christmas. Here comes Bob Cratchit who is Scrooge's clerk. Cratchit:
(happily:) Good morning, Mr. Scrooge! (shyly:) You know I work very hard, Mr. Scrooge, so can I please not come to work tomorrow?
Scrooge:
(angrily:) Why?
Cratchit:
(shyly:) It's Christmas tomorrow, Mr. Scrooge! My family is waiting for me.
Scrooge:
(angrily:) Christmas is humbug! We need to make money, Cratchit, so you must come to work!
Crat Cratch chit: it:
Pleee Pleeeaa aaase ase,, Mr. Mr. Scro Scroog oge! e!
Scrooge:
Okay, okay, but you work extra hours hours next next week! (he goes away and mumbles:) Christmas is humbug, Christmas is humbug... (he goes to bed)
Cratchit walks off.
SCENE
Narrator: At midnight Scrooge has a strange visitor. Scrooge:
(scared:) Who are you?
Marle Marley: y:
I'm I'm Jaco Jacob b Marl Marley ey.. I was was you yourr part partne ner. r.
Scro Scroog oge: e: What What do you you wan want? t? Marley: Marley:
I want want to warn warn you! you! I'm I'm dead dead and must must live live as a ghos ghost, t, becau because se I was a very very bad bad man. man. I want want to make you a better person, Scrooge, so you don't end up like me!
Scro Scroog oge: e: You You are are a bad bad dream dream!! Go awa away! y! (he pulls the sheets over his head) Marley:
Tonight three ghosts will come and visit you. Goodbye, Scrooge! (flies off)

(angrily:) What do you want?
1st ghos ghost: t: I want want to show show you you the past! past! (he/she takes Scrooge by the hand and they fly to the past: there is a christmas party with music and dancing; a young Scrooge dances and sings with the other people) Scroog Scrooge: e:
Oh, Oh, this this is me. Look Look,, I was very very happ happy y in the the past. past. (he begins to dance and hum with the others)
1st ghos ghost: t: We must must go go back, back, Scroog Scrooge! e! (he/she takes Scrooge by the hand and they fly back to his bedroom; Scrooge goes to bed again)

2nd ghost: ghost: I want to show show you the present! present! (he/she takes Scrooge by the hand and they fly to Cratchit's house; Cratchit's family sit around the dinner table and pray) Cratchit: Cratchit:
Dear Lord, Lord, we don't don't have have much money, money, but but we are very very happy happy today, today, because we have got got each other. Thank you for this wonderful family. Amen. (he smiles)
Scroog Scrooge: e:
Oh, Oh, they they are are a wonde wonderfu rfull family family.. I am so so alone alone.. (he sees little Tim) Tim) What is wrong with this boy?
2nd ghost: He is very ill, but the family has no money for medicine, medicine, because you don't pay Cratchit a lot of money! Scroog Scrooge: e:
(sadly (sadly:) :) Oh, Oh, I'm I'm so sorry. sorry. What What can can I do? do?
2nd ghost: You must change change your life, Scrooge! Come Come on, we must must go back! (he/she takes Scrooge by the hand and they fly back to his bedroom; Scrooge goes to bed again)

3rd ghost: ghost: Have Have a look! look! Scrooge:
(sees his tombstone:) Oh, this is my grave! (looks closer; scared:) But it is empty!
3rd ghost: Yes, there is no body body in this grave, grave, because you are a ghost, ghost, Scrooge! Just like your your good old old friend Marley! Scrooge:
(he falls to his knees and begins to cry:) No, I want to change my life! I want to be a better person! Please, give me a chance!
The third ghost takes Scrooge by the hand and they fly back to his bedroom; Scrooge goes to bed again, still crying quietly

The next next morni morning ng Scroog Scroogee wakes wakes up to the sound sound of of churchb churchbell ells. s.
Scrooge:
(excitedly/happily:) It's Christmas today! I must go to Cratchit and give him money for his family! And I must make a big Christmas party for everyone! (he opens the window and shouts to the people in the street:) Merry Christmas, everyone!

They sing a Christmas song together:
