STAND ALONE UPS SYSTEM-I4 SERIES An uninterrupted Power Supply is employed for critical loads which cannot be powered by utility supply (mains) directly. OPERATION MODES 1. NORMAL MODE:

When the utility is normal , the UPS powers the load through the rectifier and inverter and charging the batteries at the same time, as shown in above figure. This is called Normal Mode. 2. BATTERY MODE:
Failure of the Utility supply or fault in the rectifier/charger section. Inverter will feed load from the Battery. After resumption of the Utility supply, battery will undergo chargering & inverter will feed load from the rectifier/charger. 3. Maintenance Mode Should the UPS module need to be taken out of service for limited maintenance or repair, manual activation of the bypass shall cause an immediate transfer of the connected a.c. load from the inverter to the bypass source. Full electrical isolation of the UPS system shall therefore be obtained, without disruption to the critical load, by operation of an integral wrap-around maintenance bypass switch.
