DEFINITION OF TERMS:

1. Lex Domicilii- law of the domicile; in conflicts, the law of one's domicile applied in the choice of law questions. 2. Renvoi Doctrine - doctrine whereby a jural matter is presented which the conflict of laws rules of the forum refer to a foreign law which in turn, refers the matter back to the law of the forum or a third State. When reference is made back to the law of the forum, this is said to be remission, while reference to a third State is called transmission.

A foreign judgment is recognized when it is given the same effect that it has in the state where it was rendered with respect to the parties, the subject matter of the action and the issues involved. A foreign judgment is enforced when, in addition to being recognized, a party is given affirmative relief to which the judgment entitles him. When a plaintiff asks the court of one state to carry out and make effective a judgment obtained by him in another state, what is involved is the enforcement of a foreign judgment.

If the foreign court would apply the desistment theory, the local court shall apply the foreign law. d. No person can have two or more domiciles at the same time, except for certain purposes, and from different legal viewpoints 3. Every sui juris may change his domicile 4.
