1. GENERAL 1.1 Scope This standard defines the KBR bolting types for carbon and alloy steel bolting. 1.2 Codes and Industry Standards The following documents are referenced herein and form part of the Order. Current editions of the industry standards including all mandatory addenda in effect at the time of the order shall apply unless otherwise indicated. AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS (ASME) ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section II, "Material Specifications", Part A - "Ferrous Materials" AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR TESTING AND MATERIALS (ASTM) ASTM A36/A36M, "Carbon Structural Steel" ASTM A193/A193M, "Alloy Steel and Stainless Steel Bolting Materials for High-Temperature Service" ASTM A194/A194M, "Carbon and Alloy Steel Nuts for Bolts for High-Pressure and High Temperature Service" ASTM A276, "Stainless Steel Bars and Shapes" ASTM A307, "Carbon Steel Bolts and Studs, 60 000 psi Tensile Strength" ASTM A320/A320M, "Alloy Steel Bolting Materials for Low-Temperature Service" ASTM A325, "Structural Bolts, Steel, Heat Treated, 120/105 ksi Minimum Tensile Strength" ASTM A563, "Carbon and Alloy Steel Nuts" 2. KBR BOLT TYPES 2.1 Numbering System Bolts and nuts are identified by a two part designation as shown in the following example: B

NOTES TO TABLE II: (Numbers in parentheses refer to the following Notes) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
ASME specifications are preceded by SA instead of A, and have the same numerical designation (e.g., SA193). ASME materials are in accordance with ASME Section II, Part A. The KBR Bolting Type shall not be marked on the bolting material. Bolting shall be marked in accordance with the applicable material specification only. Either Class 1, solution treated, or Class 2, solution treated and strain hardened, may be used. Carbon content shall not exceed 0.25% to permit possible field welding.
