GALSI FEED SPECIFICATION FOR BARRED TEES 1
INTRODUCTION GALSI (Societa di Studio e promozione per il Gasdotto Algeria - Sardegna - Italia SpA) has been formed to study the feasibility of a new gas pipeline system consisting of sections of onshore pipeline in Algeria, Sardinia and Italy, and connecting offshore sections. J P Kenny and Sofregaz have formed a Joint Venture (JV) in order to conduct PreFEED and optional FEED services to GALSI for the gas pipeline project from Algeria to Italy via Sardinia. The JV is led by J P Kenny. The work allocation between J P Kenny and Sofregaz for the pre-FEED and FEED activities is as follows: •
•
•
J P Kenny is responsible for the overall management and control of the project including overall responsibility for HSEQ; J P Kenny is responsible for the offshore pipelines and onshore pipelines including all pressure retaining facilities up to the interface between the pig traps and the terminal facilities; and Sofregaz is responsible for the terminal facilities (excluding pig traps) and will in addition be responsible for all electrical, instrumentation, SCADA and data communications for the whole pipeline system.

DESIGN General
The Barred Tees shall be manufactured, tested and inspected in accordance with specification 010-P-1-0236 Carbon Steel Flanges and Fittings Specification and the requirements of this Specification. The Barred Tees shall meet the requirements of the design and operating data given in the Design Criteria for Pipeline Detailed Design and Material Selection, 010-P-30081. The tees shall be compatible for welding to the pipeline and branch materials listed in Appendices B and C. 3.2
Design
The tee shall be forged and designed according to ASME B16.9. It is required that the onshore gas transmission system shall have a constant internal diameter of 1184.3mm. Internal diameter for launcher and receiver bypass lines for offshore pipelines (including short onshore sections) shall be as specified in Appendix C. Contractor shall ensure that the method of attaching the bars shall take into account expansion of the Tee.
GALSI FEED SPECIFICATION FOR BARRED TEES 4 4.1
MANUFACTURING REQUIREMENTS Manufacturing Procedure Specification
Barred tees shall be manufactured in accordance with 010-P-1-0236, Carbon Steel Flanges and Fittings Specification. 4.2
Process of Manufacture
The manufacturing process, material requirements and heat treatment shall be in accordance with specification 010-P-1-0236, Carbon Steel Flanges and Fittings Specification. 4.3
Welding
All welds on the body of the tee shall be qualified in accordance with ASME BVPC Section IX. Acceptance criteria for welding procedure qualification tests for welds on the body of the tee shall be as per the requirements of 010-P-1-0236, Carbon Steel Flanges and Fittings Specification. Welding and repair of pup-piece welds shall be in accordance with 010-P-1-0236, Carbon Steel Flanges and Fittings Specification. All welds on barred tees for guide bars and attaching guide bars to the branch of the tee shall be full penetration, continuous around the guide bars and shall consist of at
GALSI FEED SPECIFICATION FOR BARRED TEES 5 5.1
MECHANICAL TESTING General
Mechanical testing including tensile, impact and hardness testing shall be in accordance with 010-P-1-0236, Carbon Steel Flanges and Fittings Specification. 5.2
Re-tests
If any test piece fails to meet the specified requirements, two additional specimens may be taken. If either of the tests fail to meet specified requirements, the forging or batch of forgings represented by the test shall be deemed to have failed test and be rejected. Alternatively, and with the prior approval of the COMPANY, the SUPPLIER may re-heat treat the forgings and repeat all prescribed mechanical tests. Such repeated treatment may be carried out no more than twice.
GALSI FEED SPECIFICATION FOR BARRED TEES 6
HYDROSTATIC TESTING OF TEES Hydrostatic testing of completed tees shall be carried out according to ASME BVPC Section VIII Div 1. Hydrotesting shall not be required, provided the SUPPLIER can demonstrate by calculation to the satisfaction of the COMPANY that fittings are capable of withstanding the hydrostatic test pressure specified . The type of calculations would include: wall thickness, reinforcement of the tee opening and FEA where applicable.
GALSI FEED SPECIFICATION FOR BARRED TEES 7 7.1
