WHCP Control Panel PLC Operating Guidelines This document describes the operation of the Wellhead Control Panel PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and operator interface (Panelview Display). The display is located inside the door to the electrical compartment of the WHCP. The display is used to adjust system setpoints, change the system operating mode, monitor analog values and view the status of the data going to the EPF. Display Operation The display has four sets of menus that allow access to the data in the PLC. These are accessible using the four hot keys (F1-F4) below the display screen. The four main menus are entitled Status, Alarms, Setpoints and Setup. Refer to the display screen map, located on a card in the panel (Menu worksheet in Excel file, WHCP Documentation_302.xls) in order to view the overall structure of the menu system. The four menu systems are described in the paragraphs below. Menu Screens Menu screens allow access to individual parameter screens. To use these screens, the operator uses the Up Arrow (∩) and Down Arrow (∪) to select a value from the menu and then the “Enter” key (⊃) to go to the selected menu. Status Screens The Status menu (F1) is used to view the current operating status of the unit. This includes digital inputs and outputs, analog values and the status of the various alarm points in the system. The menus are organized as either Analog or Digital values and, the Up Arrow (∩) and Down Arrow (∪) keys cycle between the various screens. For the analog values, the engineering units are displayed next to the parameters. Alarm History The Alarm button (F2) takes the operator to the Alarm History screen. The display lists up to 25 alarms in chronological order with the most recent alarm at the top of the list. The Up Arrow (∩) and Down Arrow (∪) keys allow the user to look at the various alarms on the list. The F2 key will clear the alarm list. These alarms and the associated time stamps are stored in the display, so alarms that occur when the display is turned off will not appear on the list. The current status of a given alarm point can be checked by reviewing the Digital Status screens. Setpoints These screens are used to view the current operating setpoints of the system. The setpoints cannot be changed from this menu. In order to change a setpoint, the operator must log on with a password through the setup menus. This process is described in the paragraph entitled “Setup”. The Setpoint menus are organized in a similar manner to the equivalent menus in the Setup area. In order to distinguish the two systems, the top area of the screen with either say “Adjust Setpoint” or “Display Setpoints”. Setup The Setup menus are used to allow the operator to change setups and configure the PLC and display. These screens cannot be accessed unless a password is entered. The default password is “12”. The password is entered by using the Up (∩) and Down (∪) arrows to adjust the value shown on the screen. The Right (∅) and Left (⊕) arrows will increase or decrease the value by a factor of ten. When the password is properly entered the user will be immediately redirected to the Setup menu. Once the password has been entered, the user will be allowed to access the Setup menus until the password timer expires. The default value for this is 10 minutes. When the password expires, the user will be sent to a screen that says “Password Expired” and will have to re-enter the password in order to access the setup menus again. In order to adjust an individual setpoint, manipulate the value using the Up (∩) and Down (∪) arrows for fine adjustment (adjustment increment varies for the different data types) and the Right (∅) and Left (⊕) arrows for coarse adjustment. Any changes to the setpoint are instantly sent to the PLC, and it

is not necessary to press the enter key. Other adjustment screens have been provided to allow the operator to change the operating mode, password, reset to default setpoint and configure the Panelview Display. The Panelview display configuration screens are described in the Panelview Operator’s manual. When resetting to default settings, the system will revert to the default setting for either Production or Injection mode. It is important to keep in mind that resetting to default settings will disable the operation of the choke, as that is what the default setting for this item is. The default setting for Production and Injection mode can be seen on the tables included with the unit (Default Setpoints worksheet in Excel file, WHCP Documentation_302.xls). Default Setpoints The system has two sets of default setpoints, one for production and one for injection. The system is shipped from the factory configured for production operation without choke. See description in the next section for changing from production to injection mode. The factory default setpoints can only be modified using a laptop terminal. Changes made to the system setpoints will be erased if the system is restored to default settings. Changing Operating Modes There are 4 modes of operation: 1. Production without choke 2. Production with choke 3. Injection without choke 4. Injection with choke In order to change the system mode for a different application (Production or Injection) it is necessary to take the following steps: 1. Press “Setup” on the display. 2. Enter the Password (12) using the arrow keys. 3. Select System Mode from the menu. 4. Change the system mode using the Up (∩) and Down (∪) arrow keys. Press “Enter” to commit the change. 5. Press Setup to return to the Setup menu. Select “Reset to Defaults”. 6. Press the down arrow to reset the system to default settings. 7. Press Setup to return to the Setup menu. If choke operation is required, it will be necessary to adjust the system mode in order to re-enable the choke. 8. Return to the Setup menu and select “Adjust Setpoints”. Use these menus to adjust the setpoints as needed for the application.
