Welcome to the weight loss program. o+ have chosen the most power-+l 3@wee* hypnotherapy weight loss program availa)le. #he +se o- hypnotherapy in weight loss has )een aro+nd -or many years. / have s+ccess-+lly helped tho+sands o- people reach their weight loss goals. So, whether yo+ want to lose weight yo+rsel- or help others do so, this )oo* will help yo+. #his )oo* is meant -or anyone who is trying to lose weight, whether yo+, a -riend, or a client wants to lose weight. #his )oo* ass+mes that yo+ are a hypnotherapist. /- yo+ are not a hypnotherapist, this )oo* will teach yo+ how to thin* li*e one and teach yo+ the methods which / +se s+ccess-+lly in an o--ice setting to help cients lose the amo+nt o- weight they no longer want or need, and to maintain that weight loss. #o get things started, / want to address and de)+n* some o- the n+mero+s misconceptions and myths a)o+t hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is not a en@li*e trance in which the client, also re-erred to as the patient, is in some sort o- metaphysical state. 9rom time to time, clients will e and they are more s+ggesti)le than when they are in :eta. #hey are there-ore more a)le to receive messages that in-l+ence positive change. nything deeper than lpha =2elta or #heta> is help-+l )+t not necessary.

Stages of Consciousness Hypnotherapy practices deal with -o+r stages o- conscio+sness! :eta, lpha, #heta, and 2elta =9ig+re .>.
(Figure 1.1) (ormal wa*ing conscio+sness is called :eta. /n :eta, a personDs )rain is -+lly -+nctional and in an alert state. /t is paying attention to, and processing stim+li -rom the o+tside world. /n lpha, the person is slowed down slightly and is there-ore more -oc+sed and a)le to dedicate her train o- tho+ght to one thing. E?+ate lpha to the state yo+ are in when watching #;, or when yo+ have )een driving -or a lengthy period. When driving, yo+r attention is -oc+sed on the elements o- driving. 7+tside stim+li play a lesser role. t -irst, yo+ may )e aware o- things aro+nd yo+ s+ch as cars and pedestrians. -ter prolonged driving, yo+r attention shi-ts to what is happening directly in -ront o- yo+. #his is lpha.
lpha is a not@really@here, not@really@o+t@o-@it phase. /n lpha, o+tside stim+li no longer distract the client, who
is then a)le to receive ha)it@altering messages -rom the hypnotherapist. /t is important to note that similar to driving in a trance, patients in hypnosis still can react as things happen. common misconception is that clients +nder hypnosis cannot react, and that there-ore the hypnotherapist has +ltimate control over the patient. /n lpha, the patient is always in the driverDs seat, and is -+lly capa)le o- reacting and ma*ing decisions. Some hypnosis patients go deeper than lpha into #heta or 2elta, and most patients will transition )etween :eta, lpha, #heta, and 2elta d+ring the session. Some patients will never attain #heta or 2elta, regardless o- what the hypnotherapist does.
However, almost everyone will -all into lpha on the -irst session. #echni?+es -or g+iding patients to #heta or 2elta are more comple<, and are )eyond the scope o- this co+rse. #hose techni?+es are ta+ght in my advanced class. o+ sho+ld *now, however, that there are tests -or ascertaining how deeply a person has -allen. What Is Hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy is a com)ination o- hypnosis and therapy, and this is one o- the many attri)+tes separating it -rom stage hypnosis. #raditionally, a hypnotherapist will spend a)o+t hal- o- his or her time tal*ing to the client while the client is in :eta =normal wa*ing conscio+sness>. #he remainder o- the time, the client will )e in hypnosis =lpha or lower>. Hypnotherapy wor*s )y com)ining hypnosis with precise, o+tcome@oriented therapy and targeting the s+)conscio+s mind. Hypnotherapy is ?+ite di--erent -rom traditional therapy. /nstead o- spending years with a therapist, clients who +ndergo hypnotherapy will have an e--icient, -ast, relia)le means o- altering negative )ehavior. Hypnotherapy prod+ces the most immediate res+lts -or changing )elie-s andIor )ehaviors. /t is important to note that hypnotherapy is not -or everyone. Some patients want to spend years in traditional therapyF getting to *now themselves and e

mnesia is the term that hypnotherapists +se -or the section o- the hypnotherapy session in which we s+ggest to the client that he will -orget what has )een told to him d+ring the session.
