Vitalik Buterin From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vitalik Buterin (Russian Language Виталик Бутерин) is a programmer & writer. He is primarily known as a co-founder of Ethereum, and as a co-founder of Bitcoin Magazine.[2][3][4] In 2014, Buterin won the World Technology Award for the co-creation and invention of Ethereum.[5]

Personal life Buterin was born in Russia, grew up in Canada, and currently resides in Zug, Switzerland.[1] He attended the University of Waterloo but dropped out to work on blockchain projects.[6] In 2014 Buterin received the Thiel Fellowship.[6]
Endeavors Bitcoin Journalist Buterin became interested in bitcoin in 2011, and co-founded the periodical Bitcoin Magazine that year.[2] [4][7] As of 2014, he served as head writer for the magazine, and had written about bitcoin-related topics for other publications, including Bitcoin Weekly.[2][8] Bitcoin Magazine in 2012 later began publishing a print edition and has been referred to as the first serious publication dedicated to cryptocurrencies.[9] He held a position on the editorial board of Ledger, a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that publishes full-length original research articles on the subjects of cryptocurrency and blockchain

Open source software Buterin has contributed as a developer to other open source software projects.[2] Some early examples are: Kryptokit, pybitcointools, multisig.info, and btckeysplit.[14] He also contributed to DarkWallet [15] by Cody Wilson, Bitcoin Python (software) libraries,[16] and the cryptocurrency marketplace site Egora.[3] as of 2016
