Diseases are of two types, -
1) Real disease -i.e., Arising out of inherent weaknesses (congenital weakness of some body part, such as liver- diabetes, lungs- asthma, heart- blood pressure) – Real disease can affect either of the body or of mind. 2) Acquired diseases i.e., from external sources such as bacteria, viruses etc., Congenital immaturity : Every human body has some immaturity in their body anatomy. Such immature zones lead to various diseases. Lesser the immature zones better the health condition. Congenitally immature parts of the body become the principal factors of death in the long run. Congenital immaturity is such a natural phenomenon which can't be resisted by any means. Hence the life is dependent on the planetary influence. The reasons for Congenital immaturity were attributed to the strength of the birth star i.e., natal moon position. Congenital disease is a disease or disorder that is inherited genetically from immediate parents or some grandparents in the family dynasty. This can be either paternal side or maternal side. These symptoms of disease may be controlled in a generation, by medicines / by any other curative methods. Still the recurrence of such symptoms cannot be ruled out in any of the next generations in the family. family. Astrology and Genetics - DNA is chemical material that governs inheritance in living beings. The structure of DNA in human body has a similarity to the spiraling pattern of planets in solar system. DNA contains the code of human life. Planets i ndicate the cosmic code of life. Planetary configurations at conception and at birth time influence the genes of the child. The natal chart gives information on genes and genetic e ngineering in a body. Astro-genetical factors -Generation to generation the genealogical symptoms are carried out biologically. biologically. Natal planetary configuration give an impression on the t he symptoms of the genetical factors brought down to a native as well as the symptoms being carried out to the next generation. Crucial points that are responsible for transmission of genetical factors are lagna, th moon and 5 bhava and / or seventh bhavas from thereon of father or mother's birth charts. Astro genetical Influence is the ability of a parental sign to appear as the lagna / chandra lagna in the chart of the child. Such ability depends on the frequency of its appearance as 'crucial point' in the ancestral charts i.e., of parents/grandparents / great grandparents. Influences of transiting planets on the crucial sign at the time of birth of the child also indicate indicate genetical influence. Astro Astro genetical factor has an embedded influence in any chart to influence the next generation. To identify congenital disease astrologically – Study of divisional charts, along with rasi chart give important indications of the diseases and more so of congenital diseases.
For a study of the divisional charts – 1) Analyze Navamsha and Shashtamsa chart like a normal chart, look at the lagna, lagna th lord, the 6 house and its ruler. 2) Analyze rasi lagna lord and see how it is placed on the navamsa, shashtamsa or other vargas. 3) Analyze karakas, significators of t he body organs and see their positions in the Vargas. Vargas. 4) Analyze dasha and bhukti lord and its placement in the Vargas. 5) Analyze the Moon and its placement or affliction in the Vargas.
2 Among the divisional charts - Trimsamsa indicates the weakness of body, mind and the soul (weakness inherited from past births). The key signification of the Trimsamsa can be known by th finding out the root of the divisional chart. Trimsamsa means 30 division and by expunging the multiple of 12, we arrive at 6 (30-12*2), which is the house of diseases, servants/ service, enemies and litigation. Trimsamsa chart analysis is very much needed to identify congenital diseases. Trimsamsa divisional chart is related to affliction, misfortune and disease.
(i). Focus is on the planets related to the dushtana houses and their connection to the rashi chart. (ii). Planets badly placed in the Rashi and in the Trimsamsa can cause problems in their dasha periods. th Congenital diseases are indicated by the 8 house as a matter of inheritance and as a result of the th debt of past life karma. 6 house indicate the debts, diseases and enemies being acquired in the present life. Trimsamsa indicate sub-conscious level i.e., the effect of the enemies are embedded in our subconscious mind and troubles our existence from within. Trimsamsa chart is used to know about diseases which are borne out of six inherent weaknesses. The biggest enemies are our six sources of weaknesses. The six weaknesses are broadly signified by Saturn, the Karaka of sixth house for diseases. The six sources of weakness can be attributed to affliction to one of the pancha tattvas (five primordial elements) and thus shall show the kind of diseases one would suffer with. Six weaknesses are governed by 1) Mars- Anger ( Krodha ) , 2) Mercury- Jealousy (Matsarya) , 3) Venus- Lust (Kama) , 4) Saturn- Intoxication (Mada) , 5) Rahu- Greed ( Lobha) , 6) Ketu- Illusion ( Moha ). In calculating Trimsamsa - the luminaries- Sun and Moon are left out as they are the sources of light. Jupiter is left out as it represents the wish of divine consciousness. Moreover, these three are of the sattva guna and capable of curing the weaknesses. While interpreting the Trimsamsa chart – we have to observe the troubles due to enmity – 1) Among tattvas in rasi chart and in dasa, dasa, bhukti lords; 2) Among planets planets and tattvas, 3) Among tatvas and dieties; 4) Among four four trikonas. th th Special Houses in Trimsamsa Trimsamsa to be studied are 4 house: House of Cure; and 12 house: Hospitals or the place of cure. If one is conscious of curing bad forces indicated in Trimsamsa, one would not have any weakness at all. This is the best remedy of any weaknesses. Lagna of rasi chart shows the native himself. Lagna Trimsamsa shows his weaknesses. In this it is opposite of what is shown by a Drekkana chart, the chart of strengths. The sources of weaknesses (and related troubles) can also be seen from the three houses which control the longevity, i.e., Lagna, Eighth and Tenth, whereby the strength of the lords of these three houses give the clue to the longevity of the house under consideration, affliction to these th houses by natural malefics or 6 lord of Rasi Chart. 3 negative experiences one is likely to go through in this life. i.e., nd th Mars: 2 to 5 year of age, th th Mercury: 5 to 12 ; th nd Venus: 13 to 32 ; rd th Jupiter: 33 to 50 ; th Saturn: beyond 50 year of age. Any afflictions to these planets will show negative experiences in the corresponding age group. This is also als o an indication of the curses on these planets known from Trimsamsa. • • • • •
For timing of the diseases or difficult periods: The effective system is the Vimshottari Dasha system. The Maha dashas of the afflicting or afflicted planets in the sub-dasha of another afflicting or afflicted planet tend to trigger the onset of the disease indicated on the chart. The transits are used to fine tune time and prediction. Difficult dashas or sub dashas of the planets th th th debilitated/ combust /defeated/afflicted lagna lord/malefic planets/ connected to 6 or 8 or 12 houses/ connected to dushtana houses / connected to malefic planets. The transits (Gochara)- The manifestation of a disease is usually a combination of an adverse Dasha and an adverse transit happening at the same time. It is important to watch the transits of the lagna ruler over bad houses/ low ashtakavarga bindu houses/ when it is aspected by malefic planets. The adverse transits of Mars or Ketu can bring sudden or acute diseases, accidents, wounds, injuries by fire, pitta aggravation or surgery. The adverse transits of Saturn or Rahu can bring vatha aggrevation/ pain/chronic pain/chronic disease/ stagnation/ worries / fall from from grace. Remedies: A remedy can be suggested based on Trimsamsa Lagna lord i.e., if Saturn- Pranayama; if Jupiter- Meditation; if Mars-Light a lamp; if Venus-Puja or Daana(charity); if Mercury- Mantra Japa. • • • • •
One school of thought suggest that one who worships all the above Panchadevatas everyday) shall have a smooth life and shall always be protected irrespective of evils, because all Trimsamsas are covered by this worship. In Panchopachara Puja, the five tattvas can be propitiated by using the materials signified by them i.e. for Agni- Deepa - Lighting a lamp; for Prthvi- Gandha- Perfume ; for Vayu- Dhoopa- Incense stick ; for Jala- Naivaidya- Food ; for Akasha- Pushpa. • • • • •
Another best remedy for any planet is to worship the Deity concerned with the planet's trimsamsa. i.e. if Sun is in Mars's Trimsamsa- AgniAgni- worship Surya ; if in Mercury's Trimsamsa- Prthvi- worship Ganesha ; if in Venus's Trimsamsa- Jala- worship Devi ; if in Saturn's Trimsamsa- Vayu- worship Shiva ; if in Jupiter's Trimsamsa- Akasha- worship Narayana . That will remove negativity of that t hat planet. • • • • •

Meaning of the word 'Esoteric'
Philosophically, ' ESOTERIC ' mean the one hidden from all but well know in a particular group of an esoteric cult. Great Philosophers like Plato, Aristotle were concealing the 'true' doctrines from all except to their followers mostly because the messages cannot easily be understood by one and all. Ancient philosophies are of two types – Exoteric and Esoteric. Exoteric are those which are understandable only to philosophers whereas Esoteric are those which cannot easily be understood by all. This has profoundly affected modern thought and the exoteric matters are becoming esoteric in a course of time. Esoteric meanings of names used in the worship of Gods in Hindu Mythology The power of the Word of 'God' is effective and predominant over the material as well as spiritual matters. God is powerful in all things, and that the verses/ mantras chanted on GOD/Goddess have exoteric and esoteric meaning. Neither their outward prevents their inward, nor do their inwards prevent their outward meaning. The greater truths are often hidden behind the veil of metaphors. 'Esoteric' is synonymous to 'mysterious'. Mystery is a hidden secret and is spiritual. Although many can see and hear many things all cannot not understand all of them as they themselves may not believe it and may not experience it. Hindus worship GOD in different forms - GOD / GODESS. Each name used in a worship do suggest an esoteric meaning. Esoteric meaning of the names used in the worship of Lalitha devi-
Hindus, in Srividya tradition worship Goddess 'Lalitha Devi' with so much emphasis on the liturgical listing of 1000 names (Lalithasahasranam), their symbolism give much insight into the esoteric ism of this goddess. Names of ‘Lalitha’ suggests that she is beyond conceptualization, she is omnipotent, and a single form of creator, maintainer and destroyer. On gross level she is everything that is three-fold in this universe, including (to name a few) the three worlds, three energies, and three tattvas. On a more subtle level, Lalita is the nature of Siva, Sakti, and Atman. Thus, Siva is Sakti and Sakti is Siva; the two are one and the same in a co nstant union. Pure Consciousness does not exist without the Creative Energy. Each individual Atman is no different than either Siva or Sakti. Atman is, itself, the union of the two and is, itself, Absolute Divinity. 1
The Sri Vidya tradition claims that these three categories do not differ from one another. Thus, once the knower" begins the "process of knowing," that "knower"actually becomes the "object of knowledge.". In this realization, one travels from the manifest world back into the Bindu Point and into the Absolute Consciousness. Translating this into "Lalita language," a devotee himself becomes the Absolute by worshiping reciting the mantra of Lalitha, the Supreme Consciousness. Knowing oneself to be God, experiencing in full the presence of Lalita is salvation (moksha)
Esoteric Meaning of the Ten Avataras in Hindu Mythology "Asato Maa Sat-Gamaya, - Tamaso Maa Jyotir-Gamaya, -Mrityor Maa Amritam-Gamaya"
The above prayer in Hindu scriptures epitomises the purpose of the Lord’s Creation, the grand culmination of going back into that Transcendence out of which these countless names and forms have been evolved as a blissful act of play by the One without a second. The plan of the Divine Will is that out of the One infinite, names and forms may flow out and for a time there may be a blissful play of this divine multiplicity and then once again, when the Divine Wills, there may be a going back into the pristine glorious source. This cycle of becoming and perishing, birth and death, is the characteristic of this world-play. Thus, a going back into the original grandeur of Brahman means an ascent from this unreality into that Supreme Reality. This process is being worked out by all evolved beings. From time to time great ones have come, who have systematized this Cosmic plan and formulated a method so that individuals in whom this purpose has been awakened may make use of this method and reach the goal quickly, that they may consciously achieve this process in themselves. These methods have come to the various religions of humanity. Gradually, these religions have had a greater and ever-widening group of followers. These great groups exist all over the world as the great section of Hindus, Buddhists, Mu slims, Christians, and so on. But the one inescapable fundamental fact about these religions remains that all these various religions are but methods which seek to work out in some way or other the ascent of man from birth and death to Immortality. The ten Avataras of the Lord, which are described in Hindu scriptures, are an order calculated to teach us a sublime spiritual lesson. Lord said in Bhagavad Gita, "Sambhavami Yuge Yuge", which mean – that He incarnates Himself, whenever necessary, to put mankind into correct path to lead Divine life. The gist of Avataras is to kill brutality in man and correct him towards Divinity. 1. Matsya (Fish) Avatara.- Fish lives in water, shut out from the two important elements for life—pure air and sunlight. Yet, if you liberate the fish from its aquatic prison and place it in life-giving sunshine surrounded by fresh air, it is greatly distressed and would die in a few minutes. Similarly, the man who is sunk in worldliness, who is worse than a beast, cannot bear the sunlight of godliness and fresh, pure air of divine life. He revels in his own dark region deprived of all spiritual light. 2. Kurma (Tortoise) Avatara.- The tortoise lives in water; but is able, to an extent, to live on the shore, too. This corresponds to the first-stages of man’s career from bestiality to humanity and from humanity to divinity. He likes to live sunk in ignorance, but does not seriously mind the light of truth. 2
3. Varaha (Boar) Avatara. - Here the evolution has taken the Jiva completely away from this worse-than-beast stage, away from the aquatic prison, and the boar, though considered as the lowest among the animals, is yet an animal and lives on mother earth, basking in sunshine and breathing fresh air. 4.The Nrisimha (the Man-lion) Avatara - crown of animal-creation. Integrated personality indicates the beast nature in man. Great violent with a purpose of killing. Violence and the spirit of destruction is main in this while tr ying to transcend the bestiality; 5.The Vamana (the Dwarf) Avatara.- No animal nature. It is completely human with a greatly limited capacity. This avatar suggests that the man is capable of transcending all limitations and realising his unity with Brahman. 6. The Parasurama Avatara – a man where the humanity has sup ervened. From this there are three object-lessons.I) One must sub serve his will to that of his 'Guru' – His perfect faith in father as 'Guru' led to implicit obedience and perfect subservience to the higher will. As per father's order he killed his mother and when the same father granted a boon he used it with a request to get back the mother live. His father got her back to life. II) Any can rise into divine nature only by annihilating his brutal nature and by sublimating the human nature, Unrighteous kings were killed by Parasurama much against Sattva nature of his Bramin cult. This shows that in Yoga sadhana certain amount of destruction is absolutely necessary. III) One should nullify his brutal nature and then, he becomes a true human being. One should learn to sub serve his Guru, and then he should destroy all hurdles in the way. To please his father Parasurama has killed a king who has stolen a milk cow from his father. But, father warned him for forgetting his own dharma as a Brahmin who should not retaliate, and should only be patient as a sign of forbearance and forgiveness. Father has also punished him to undertake a countrywide pilgrimage. 7. Rama Avatara – One should serve his Guru with love, sincerity and obedience for liberation or God-realisation. Sri Rama killed many Asuras as told by his Guru Vismamitra, and by his Grace Sri Rama followed Sattvic virtues like truthfulness, love, compassion and purity. Similarly, we 8. Krishna Avatara, -a Purna Avatara. - Tells any spiritual aspirant with all necessary teachings to attain one-ness with God. He must serve humanity in all respects, without distinction of caste, creed or sect. Sri Krishna was trying compromise to avert the Kurukshetra war. Sri Krishna practised and preached the selfless service, in the Bhagavad Gita. 9. Buddha Avatara. -taught that one can attain God-realisation by practicing even a single divine virtue o f non-violence (Ahimsa) in thought, word and deed. Kalki Avatara. - which is meant for removing the ignorance in humanity by awaking 10. consciousness of Divinity.

Esoteric meaning of the Twelve signs as Ascendant.
Human soul has a wide purpose with its arenas of growth, levels of consciousness and service. Soul's purpose is reflected in the esoteric meaning of the ascendant sign in zodiac. Following are the brief symptoms of ascendant signs and are to be seen in comprehension with modifications in the light of its connection to planets. ARIES - Replacing instant desire with will; assertively increasing the Higher Self; discerning and also by embodying Divine Will. TAURUS – wise steward of the Earth's resources, utilizing them for the fulfillment of the Divine Plan; transmutes material attachment into spiritual aspiration GEMINI - Giving love and applying wisdom lovingly and help to connect people and promote planet wide unity of all Humanity CANCER - Realizing the Oneness of all manifested life, human, animal, vegetable, and mineral to mass consciousness to uplift and inspire Humanity toward the universal Love of the heart chakra LEO - Becoming centered in God-consciousness with perfect personality with soul energy to radiate Love to others to usher to a higher planetary consciousness VIRGO - Refining the personality to receive the energies of the soul and to sow God Consciousness to rearrange the physical plane to receive the higher energy necessary for planetary initiation LIBRA - Seeing everyone as part of oneself to develop Wholeness through cooperation with the Higher Self and the Divine Plan. SCORPIO - Transmuting lower desires into Higher Will as a spiritual warrior and catalyst of healing through the embodiment and transmission of Divine Power SAGITTARIUS – With the experience of all facets of human life develops complete acceptance, understanding, and love of other. Inspires others toward greater understanding of life and of each other with a torch of Light and Love. CAPRICORN - Working productively develops patience, persistence, and perseverance. Progresses spiritually with assumption of greater responsibilities in helping to manifest the Divine Plan on Earth AQUARIUS – Realising the universality of Spirit, the Divine essence, Unity of all beings, interplanetary and extra planetary. Serving uniquely and in a cooperatively with others. Works under the direction of the Planetary Hierarchy. Helps the whole of Humanity to awaken in consciousness. PISCES – Getting aware of ingrained personal attitudes, cultural thought forms, and societal institutions which hinder planetary progress. Then yielding Power to transmute them into higher forms of energy to clear the way for the new thought forms which will serve the Divine Plan of evolution for the planet and the solar system.

Esoteric nature of planetary energies as rulers of signs.
An esoteric view of zodiac signs and their lords reveal much about the soul's path in the cycle of re-births. A study of Leo and its ruler tell that Sun's energy, esoterically, has a triadic nature with three aspects i.e., Physical level; heart level; and Spiritual level. Sun rules Leo on both exoteric and esoteric levels. Neptune is the agents to carry to earth the energies of the Sun at heart level while Uranus play such role at the Spiritual level. Thus the Sun cover both Neptune and Uranus. The Sun symbolizes the personality, and in Leo the personality undergoes an evolution in self awareness from the personal to the trans personal. Selfishness, egotism, and personal will are being conquered for Universal Love. In this the Sun,Uranus and Neptune, are involved. Leo contributes to the development and expression of self consciousness, with a realisation of the existence of something greater than just physical body which binds all human being. On a next step, the Sun with Neptune one realizes and somehow helps to make life better for one’s brothers and sisters in the Family of Humanity. Then the mind increasingly responds to the Soul which do minates in awareness with supreme consciousness. Esoteric Astrology –for the Age of Aquarius The Age of Aquarius is just commencing. And the traditional astrology is evolving toward 'Esoteric Astrology. Thus the causes r ather than effects are essential to study the path of human soul behind the outer body form. Soul is imperishable, eternal and with expanding consciousness in purpose to nullify karma in the repeated cycle of rebirths. In present astrological practices- both in personality astrology and psychological astrology- matters dealt with are of mundane, spiritual, fortune telling, and to bring about integration and wholeness. Esoteric Astrology contemplates a larger perspective of life not only as an inhabitant in this solar system but also participating as an ‘energy center’ within a greater solar life. Esoteric Astrology & the Seven Rays Greatest psychologists of last century developed Psycho synthesis techniques from the Seven Rays. Esoteric astrology take the help of theories of such Science of Seven Rays. The planets are simple instruments for the energies to transmit to Earth through the zodiac whose signs have special reactions with the rays. The rays can be studied by themselves and constitute what is known as Esoteric Psychology. The seven rays were attributed to the important aspects of human life. They are Will power, Love wisdom, and Active intelligence, Harmony through conflict, Concrete science, Devotion idealism, and Ceremonial order. Each of them have virtues and vices. Will power may be in destruction, Love-wisdom lead to dispassion, Active intelligence may adapt manipulation, harmony may cause forceful conflict, Concrete science may help practical application, Devotion and Idealism may bring aggressiveness, Ceremonial order with emphasis on Creative process manifests into forms. The Seven Rays correspond to many ‘septenaries’, which provide the basic building blocks of occultism. Planets ‘rule’ rays, similar to astrological ruler ships, hence the interface between rays, planets & zodiac signs is interesting. To commence the study of horoscope is to determine the rays, first and then i nterpret the horoscope in light of the rays. These rays

Who can seek Esoteric Astrology Readings ? For best results those who want an Esoteric Astrological reading should be backed by the right reasons for seeking such a reading. Esoteric Astrology seekers must be at a point in their spiritual development and such reading must b e of a value to them. Such seekers themselves receive more information in their Spiritual experiences than in an esoteric astrological reading. One's own spiritual practices are more useful than the esoteric astrology reading by another person. References: www.mindspring.com; www.celestialharmonics.com ; www.thereflectory.com ;

General Hints in Predictive Astrology – ( for beginners )* by Prof.C.Sambasiva Rao , Chairman, Universal College of Astrology, Hyderabad. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Published in Souvenir released on the occasion of Aseethi Celebrations of Guruji Shri P.V.K.Punneswara Rao Atrologer in October 2004 at Hyderabad. _______________________________________________________________________________________________
1. Interpretation of horoscope is a matter of decoding divine qualities of zodiac and of planets. 2. Objective analysis is to be made with proper wording to prevent possible e rrors and ill effects thereto on native’s psychology. 3. All efforts should be taken to see that this science of Astrology do not create wrong fears or undue confidence. 4. The duty of Astrologer is to follow a code of discipline to ensure that this divine science is useful to all. 5. Accurate and useful prediction is, in a sense, a gut feeling of a good practitioner with a divine blessing. 6. Initiate the study of any chart with respects to Guru, Ishta daivam and Science of Astrology and with a sense of utility to native. 7. No planet is isolated. All planets work in a concerted manner. At any given time native gets a package deal of all planets with a leadership of one or more planets depending on their strength in dasa system and / or in transit. 8. Base is only 27 stars, 9 planets and 12 rasis, 12 bhavas - with innumerable number of permutations and combinations anything can be proved / disproved in astrology. Predictive skills should be refined e very time, to guard, against such complexities. 9. Basics like graha tatwa, bhava tatwa and rasi tatwa to be analyzed everytime . Graha tatwa to be studied in relation to bhava tatwa without ignoring the background rasi tatwa th 10. Longevity, Lagna and 11 bhava strength are to be invariably considered while reading any bhava. 11. Always elicit and use properly the environmental data like - age, aptitude, medical reports, inheritances, social conditions etc, 12. Do not get hurried OR hesitant to conclude prediction. 13. Express negative OR positive predictions in a useful way. 14. Do not mix different systems of astrology. 15. Do not get biased by any attachment to the native / perturbed by events under studyFollowing are some of the instances where one is likely to get into an unknown bias. i.study of chart of a relative / friend , ii.study of a chart dealt with earlier , iii.review of an earlier prediction , iv. Critical family affairs, financial crisi s, medical condition, etc. 16. Mathematical calculations should be meticulous but not to the extent of eroding predictive skills. Calculations are for quantitative analysis while predictive part is a qualitative assessment. Both are important and a re to be used in a judicious way. 17. Disciplined way of life and detailed study of the system and careful observation of chart definitely lead to valuable readings. 18. Intuition of astrologer plays a vital role in predictions. Intuition is described, in a way, as a sixth sense. Using all known five senses in a disciplined way is a definite base for best intuition. This is first step to reach higher levels and should be practiced by everyone. 19. Common sense is the essential element in predictive part of astrology.
1
20. Astrology subject do have some limitations - like any other science - One should use this science within the limitations to draw the best results. 21. Clarify to everyone what can be known / what is to be known / how to know anything from the science of astrology - it is a divine subject - everything / anything / at any time / by anybody cannot be known without divine blessing. 22. Revelations of ‘Karma theory” cannot be ignored in t he study of astrology. Karma theory reveal the prevailing mix of prarabdha, sanchita, agami with the aid of Sun (atmakaraka), Moon (manokaraka) and other five planets (representing human body i., flesh, blood, bones etc, Just as human body is subjected to the influence of biological inheritance, environmental effects etc., the soul is subjected to the prarabdha karma. Combined action of soul and body is the result of human actions. These actions are qualified by satwa, rajo, and thamo gunas of mind. In short, the input of human actions are qualified by satwa, rajo, thamo gunas while the output get classified into dharma, ardha, kama, moksha. The output can again be, broadly, classified into spiritual (dharma, moksha) and materialistic (ardha, kama). In Predictions –bhava results do fall into spiritual/material aspect of life. In the light of this the role of Karma theory cannot be ignored in predictive astrology. Significance of astrology is to be seen in the light of highest level of human attainment. Astrology teaches in great detail about the controls upon us. The real value of astrology is gained when the astrologer and the client are convinced of the need for spiritual progress in their lives.
Note: List of hints cannot be concluded - anytime anybody's experience can improve the list. Hence reader is requested to improve for better use and circulate. *********

Importance of TRANSIT Astro logy Transit astrology (gochara) refers to the influence of a transiting planet when in contact with the birth time position of itself or of other planets in the natal chart. This is followed both in sayana and nirayana systems
Influence of transits in astrological studies is highly important as every planet is always in transit. Natal chart indicate the position of planets at birth time. Natal charts sometimes lead us to a false impression that the planets are stagnant in the natal position. But no planet is stagnant at any time. They constantly move in their respective tracks. Transiting movement of planets indicates a probable time of an opportunity for development or otherwise with the potential promised in natal chart. Transit astrology is the study of constantly changing angular distances of ever moving planets with the sensitive areas in natal chart.
The transiting planets happen to touch the same point at regular intervals as per their speed. The fast moving planets conjunction with their natal positions repeats at shorter intervals while that of slow moving planets repeats at very long intervals. Transit chart: Transiting planets are shown over the natal chart, generally, in outer circle. This is to indicate the angular distance of transiting planets to those of the natal position of planets and bhava sputas. Natal Chart: A natal chart is the snapshot of planetary configuration at a given birth time. Planets after birth time also continue to move in respective tracks while the native is growing in age - mentally and physically.
Planets are posited at specified points in a natal chart as per the past life karma of the native. Stellar astrology theories imply that in a natal chart planet(s) are hosted by star(s) as per the nature of previous karma of the native. Moon posited star is picked as Birth Star for astrological study because Moon is manokaraka. present life events. Mind is the threshold for the entry of previous life events in to this life. Negative feelings of mind like envy, jealous, anger, revenge etc., are the entry time symptoms of past life bad karma influence. Natal chart is a zodiac of 360 degrees spread in 12 signs with 12 bhava sputas and 12 planetary sputas. Here, planets are taken as 12 including the Nodes and Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Natal chart is analyzed on the basis of Graha Tatwa plus Bhava Tatwa and Rasi tatwa. The analysis is focused on the position of planet in a bhava and the rasi behind such a position. 0
Sensitive areas in Natal chart: Out of 360 of Zodiac the sensitive areas are only 24 points i.e., 12 bhava sputas and 12 graha sputas.
In advanced theories some points like sahamas, brigu bindu, mid points etc are also considered as sensitive areas in natal chart. These points are arrived as per certain formulae and marked in natal chart. Sensitive time: The sensitive time is the time when a transiting planet contacts/aspects a sensitive area in natal chart. Contacts (aspects and conjunctions): Contact of transiting planet with the sensitive area in natal chart is in many ways e.g., aspects or conjoins the natal position of all planets. Conjunction is rapt and wide. Here consider the aspects of both Vedic and Western astrology.
Natal chart indicate the opportunities and strengths of the native. Transit charts indicate the time of fructification of events as per the favorable and unfavorable angular distances of the transiting planets to sensitive areas in natal chart. Caution: Transiting planets by NO MEANS are capable of giving any extra benefits than what is promised in the natal chart.
Transit astrology (gochara) is of different types – Some of them are given below.
1. Lunar gochara - Based on sign wise distance of transiting planets from the natal sign position of Moon in natal chart. 2. Tarabalam - based on the distance of transiting moon posited star from the birth star in natal chart. Mostly used in election astrology. 3. Chandra ashtamam – based on the sign wise distance of transiting moon from the Moon occupied sign in natal chart. Mostly used in election astrology. 4. Sadesati, kanataka sani periods based on the distance of transiting Saturn posited sign from the moon posited sign in natal chart. 5. Lagna Gochara: Deals with the sign wise distance of transiting planets from the lagna sign in natal chart. 6. Stellar Gochara: Deals with the distances between the stellar positions of transiting planets from the birth star in natal chart. 7. Ashtaka Vargu: Kakshas and bindus in natal chart indicate the transit results. Strength of the transiting planet is dependent on the Kakshas occupied in transits as well as the bindus in each Kaksha in natal chart. 8. Tajaka System – Vashapala chart – is cast as per the sun position in transit. Natal chart is progressed in time. The distance of transiting planets in that year and the Sahama points in Varshapal chart are used for further analysis. This is somewhat similar to the Progression charts made very year in Western system of astrology. Progression charts made in Western astrology or Varshpal charts in Tajaka system indicate the psychological developments occurred by that age within the native. In a way they supplement the study of natal c harts. 9. KP system – for fine tuning of the transit results the position of transiting planets in 0 all 249 subs in 360 are studied. 10. Vimshottari Dasa system adopted in the Vedic astrology is based on the presumption of progression of natal MOON p osition. Progression of Moon concept is somewhat similar concept of Sun progression in Western astro logy. Suggested mode of study in transit astrology Main concept in all the transit studies is to see the angular distances of transiting planets to the sensitive areas in natal chart just to arrive at the sensitive time. In view of this main concept the following methods are suggested to always begin a study of transit influence on the sensitive areas in natal chart. 1. Observe the natal positions of 12 bahava sputas and 9 planetary sputas in natal chart. If one is conversant with the use of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto they can include them also. 2. Observe the transit chart and the 9 or 12 planetary positions in transit chart. 3. Verify current situation: (i) With the current dasa bhukti and antara lords in transit chart and their angular distance with their natal positions. This indicates what the native is presently experiencing – good / bad. (ii) With the bhavas indicated by current dasa/ bhuti/antara lords as per natal chart and the malefic /benefic indications when interpolated with their transit positions. 4. Now come to the purpose of present study e.g., education / job/ marriage etc., (i) Verify how far the current dasa / bhukti / a ntara lords are favorable as per their natal and transit positions. ( as per item 3 above) (ii) Now verify the transit of major planets like Saturn, Rahu-ketu, Jupiter- see how far they are favorable or otherwise for the bhava(s) under study. 5. Study of transits is important (i) Bad transits are likely to damage the good configuration promised in natal chart. (ii) At the same time if a bad configuration is seen in natal chart a good transit can rarely repair the likely damage. Contd. : Critical times may be embedded with good opportunities:: Happy times may have disguised slippery chances: : Predictions are not adequate NOW: Prepare the native through Astro Counseling:
4
Caution: Transiting planets by NO MEANS are capable of giving any extra benefits than what is promised in the natal c hart.
6. Natal chart indicate the strengths and weakness and the transits p rovide opportunities and the scope to fructify events. 7. Observe whether any natal planet is under the influence of TRIPLE transit – one from slow moving planets and other from fast moving planets. Slow moving planets provide benefic / malefic background and the fast moving planets set the time of event – good / bad. Slow moving planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu-Ketu, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Fast moving planets are Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Moon. 8. Angular distances are expressed by way of aspects. In fact, in a zodiac of 360 0 the angular distances, if measured geometrically, from a point to point result in more than 100 connections. They start from conjunction i.e, in same degree to opposite and to the other half side. But, for practical purposes, few effective angles are taken in Vedic astrology and also in Western astrology. Vedic astrology recognized 7 th aspect to all planets and special aspects to Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Western astrology recognized conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition etc., 9. Approaching and Separating aspects in zodiac – Faster moving planet crosses a slow moving planet in zodiac at any time. A transiting planet while reaching an exact conjunction / aspect to a sensitive area makes an applying aspect and after that conjunction / aspect resorts to separating aspect. This cannot be ignored. Applying aspect is essential as any event in life need a gestation period to fructify. Time taken in applying aspect is likely to coincide with the gestation time taken in fructification of a life event. This is to be verified in each case and at every time. ExampleGestation time for getting a job involves getting information about availability of job; applying for it; getting an interview; getting selection and joining in a job. All these stages can be traced in phases in the duration of applying aspect. Time span of separating aspect may indicate the strengthening / worsening of the event so occurred. 10. Fructification of event always include the “happening” or “not happening” of an event. 11. Retrograde planets in transit – Transiting planets’ apparent retro motions have a deep meaning in the fructification of event. This relates to the study of natal planets direct or retro position. During retro motion a planet get stagnant twice before going to retro and turning to direct motion. An event triggered in direct /retro motion may get fructified (benefic/malefic) when the retro planet get retro / directed. Some theories have ignored the retro motion. Yet, expert observations indicate that the stud y of retro movements is essentially indicating minor and major changes. In the present complex life situations a planet(s) r etro motions cannot be ignored. 12. Planetary return – When a transit planet touches the exact point of its natal position it is said as planetary return. Planet is beginning a new cycle in individual’s life. Important are the return of Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu-Ketu, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Half returns i.e., when the planet touches the 180 degrees to its natal position is also Contd.

important. Particularly return of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto may not occur in short life and medium life periods. So half return is important in case of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. (i) Jupiter return – is the ideal time for growth and development. All efforts will be rewarded. (ii) Saturn return is often a difficult and challenging time – but the decisions taken in this period will have long lasting effect. (iii) Uranus return – half return or full return – as per age span – creates casual filtrations in relationships, routine life styles are broken, people develop new interests, Many women experience pre-menopause stage in half return of Uranus. Men are also likely to experience pre-male menopause. (iv) Rahu-Ketu return or half return to their natal positions – health care is essential. Following TABLE show some of the broad effects of transiting planets noticed by experts. Caution-
These are general indications and every one must essentially make a holistic approach to the entire natal chart and all transiting planets in finalizing the study results. No planets work isolation. At any given time, native gets a package deal of all planets with a leadership of one or more planets by virtue of their dasa periods, lordships, transits etc.,

An Introduction to Hindu Predictive Astrology* by Prof. C.Sambasiva Rao , Chairman, Universal College of Astrology.Hyderabad. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Published in TELUGU JAGATHI - World Telugu Federation Conference Souvenir - Dec.2002 held at Singapore -pp127-130 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduction : Purpose of this article is to introduce the subject of Astrology to non-astrologers (i.e., who are new to the subject) Astrology is an age-old subject prevalent all over the World in some form or the other. Hindu system of Astrology is considered as a part of Vedas. A detailed st udy, in a formal way, is well advised for a comprehensive approach.
Purpose of Astrology: Astrology is required for everyone like mathematics. Even an illiterate is aware of mathematics. Similarly everyone is having a sense of planets and their effects on human life and on himself more precisely. Hence every one can also understand Astrology. But only learned Astrologers are able to express, in words, their findings. Knowledge of Astrology is essential to understand intricacies of life to plan for remedial actions. Planetary rays have effect on human life as evident from the effect of Sunrays on human body. The cosmic energy modifies bio-energy in a human being. Human activities are qualified by satwic, rajasic and tamasic qualities. The output of human activity is classified as dharma, artha, kama, moksha. Human life is like a coin with two sides’ i.e., materialistic and spiritualistic sides. Every day / night is good for human life. Good and bad are relative terms. A day suitable for materialistic purpose may not suit for spiritual purpose. Astrology helps to make use of time in a best way with proper planning for material / spiritual goals. Any life guided correctly is like a nourished garden. Influence of planets on each individual is studied with the help of planetary configuration at his birth time interpolated with the transitory influence of planets on the life of that individual from time to time. A common doubt, in this, is when two human beings are born at the same time how the individual fate is differing and how it can be read from the same horoscope. Once own activities are causes of his destiny. Human being is bestowed with higher intelligence. With the acceptance of concept of rebirth and doctrine of karma it is clear that every one carries with him the memories of previous life. Those memories qualify the activities in present life. This is explained as – Sanchita (i.e., what is brought forward from previous life); Prarabdha (i.e, activites in present life); and Agami (i.e., what is to be carried over to next life). A common doubt, again, is when cosmic rays control human activity at large how the sanchita, prarabdha and agami differing. Here it is to be observed that every one is bestowed with ichha sakti (will power); gnana sakti (intelligence) and kriya sakti (human effort). Human being with his dominating ichha sakti, gnana sakti and kriya sakti is modifying sanchita karma / defining prarabdha / qualifying agami karma. Knowledge of Astrology is needed to understand the intricacies involved and plan human activity for better results in materialistic / spiritualistic goals. Although one need to work for materialistic goals in middle age ultimately every one has to work for spiritualistic goals. Hence suitability of time is to be seen from Astrology for timely achievement of different goals. What is Horoscope ? - Method of Casting of Horoscope is not dealt with, in this article, for brevity and it is essentially recommended to every reader to learn detailed techniques of casting of a horoscope for comprehensive approach. Horoscope is a map of heaven at a given time, say birth time or query time, indicating the longitudinal positions of planets in natural zodiac. A broad belt of 9 on each side of the Sun’s apparent path around earth is called natural zodiac ( Bhachakara). This is divided into 12 parts called signs or rasis each spreading to 30 . They are named as Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. In making a horoscope there are two schools of thought i.e., Fixed (Nirayana) zodiac and Moving (Sayana) zodiac. Hindu system mostly follows fixed (Nirayana) system. Astronomical theories followed by different astrologers resulted in different systems. The mathematical difference in fixed and moving zodiac is called as Ayanamsa. Among the duration of Ayananmsa also Astronomers and thereby Astrologers differ in the time of coincidence of °

moving zodiac with fixed zodiac. Prominent among the followed are Lahari ayanamsa, B.V.Raman ayanamsa, and K.P.ayanamsa. Solar system : Planets move around Sun in their orbit in the sequence of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars,Jupiter, Saturn. Moon moves around Earth. Rahu and Ketu are not planets. They are formed with the inter-section of planetary rays – They are called shadow planets and are, however, given planetary status by classical astrologers. Stars : According to ancient astrological cannons the zodiac is divided into 27 lunar mansions each extending to 13 20’. They are also called as Asterisms or Stars. These mansions are grouped as triads and a planet is said to rule each triad. The names of stars, the planets that rule them and planets’ respective periods in Vimshotari dasa are as follows. No.of the star indicates its sequential place in natural zodiac i.e., 1. Aswini 2.Bharani and so on. °
1.Aswini, 10.Makha, 19.Moola,-Ketu-7 years; 2.Bharani, 11.Pubba, 20.Purvashada,Venus- 20yrs; 3.Kritika, 12.Uttara, 21.Uttarashada, Sun-6yrs; 4.Rohini, 13.Hasta, 22.Sravanam, Moon-10yrs; 5.Mrigasira, 14.Chitta, 23.Dhanishta,Mars-7yrs; 6.Arudra, 15.Swati, 24.Satabhisham,Rahu-18yrs 7.Punervasu, 16.Visakha, 25.Purvabhadra,Jupiter-16yrs; 8.Pushyami, 17.Anuradha, 26.Uttarabhadra, Saturn-19yrs; 9.Aslesha, 18.Jeyshta, 27.Revathi. –Mercury- 17 yrs. Rasi Tatwa - in general. Each sign has certain natural qualities as given below. Aries: Fiery, Movable, Odd sign, Prishtodaya, Rasi lord –Mars; Taurus: Earthy, Fixed, Even, Prishtodaya, Rasi lord – Venus.; Gemini: Airy, Dual , Odd, Ubhayodaya, Rasi lord- Mercury; Cancer: Watery, Movable, Even, Prishtodaya, Rasi lord- Moon; Leo: Fiery, Fixed, Odd, Sirshodaya, Rasi lord- Sun; Virgo : Earthy, Dual, Even, Sirshodaya, Rasi lord – Mercury; Libra : Airy, Movable, Odd, Sirshodaya, Rasi lord – Venus; Scorpio: Watery, Fixed, Even, Sirshodaya, Rasi lord- Mars; Sagittarius : Fiery, Dual, Odd, Prishtodaya, Rasi lord- Jupiter; Capricorn: Earthy, Movable, Even, Prishtodaya, Rasi lord – Saturn; Aquarius: Airy, Fixed,Odd, Sirshodaya, Rasi lord – Saturn; Pisces: Watery, Dual, Even, Ubhayodaya, Rasi lord- Jupiter. Bhavas – Bhava Tatwa : Natural zodiac marked with planetary positions is divided into 12 parts called bhavas- this is within the natural division of 12 signs. Planets marked in various signs, are thus, seen in different bhavas. The first bhava is called Lagna or Ascendant. Ascendant is the raising sign, in natural zodiac, on eastern horizon at the time for which horoscope is made. Lagna is a benchmark to commence the reading of a horoscope. Various bhavas indicate different aspects of human life as detailed below. Classical astrologers also suggest to commence reading the horoscope from the strongest among Lagna / Sun’s rasi / Moon rasi. 1st Bhava / Lagna / Ascendent – Body, soul, general temperament,; 2nd- Money , speech, family, eyes, ears, face, education, longevity.; 3rd - brothers, sisters, courage, anger, idea, friends, longevity.;4th- Mother, education, vehicles, lands, immovable property, houses, face, wells, water tanks, agriculture, cattle, crops, relatives; 5th- Progeny, Education, Intelligence, Skills, Tantric skills, Speculation; 6th- Enemies, debts, diseases, service matters, competitive exams., 7th - spouse, Marriage, Lust, adultery, Comfort, longevity,. 8th- Longevity, Death, Hell, Sorrow.; 9th - father, comfort, meditation, devotion, pilgrimage, kindness.; 10th - Profession, Power, Fame, Business; 11th - Gains, elder sisters, and elder brothers, Monetary gains, success, longevity; 12th - Expenditure, loss, Wasteful expenses, hell. Graha tatwa – in general: By virtue of planet(s) ownership of rasis, stars, and mutual friendship among planets they transit in own signs, friendly/inimical signs, or exalted /debilitated signs or moolatrikona signs. The strength of a planet differs as per their transitory position. Quality of planetgraha tatwa- in general is as follows. Sun: Rajasic,Atmakaraka, Pitrukaraka, Profession, Courage, Power, Eyes, Pittam.; Moon: Rajasic, Mother, Mind, intelligence, beauty, water comfort, truth, silver, Cold; Mars: Tamasic, Brothers and sisters, land, Courage, anger, logic, skill of using weapons, inimical, heat, leadership, small pox ; Mercury: Satwik, Maths, astrology, business, medicine, skills, sculpture, cousins, philosophy, 2
intelligence, tantric, devotion to lord vishnu ; Jupiter: Satwik, Money, Education, progeny, Astrology, Vedas, Acostics, Gold, House; Vehicle, religion, wealth, relatives, charity. Devotion to god, truth; Venus: Rajasic, Spouse, marriage, music, art, pleasures with women, lust, adultry, comfort, vehicle, wealth, power, humour; Saturn : Tamasic, Longevity, education of mean subjects, worship of mean deities, death, bondage, small pox, illegal, bad behaviour, hell, mean life, huna vidya (i.e., education of foreign language.) Rahu: Tamasic, Tanks, Maternal grand parents, Father, Poisonous medicine, mean life, mean education.; Ketu: Tamasic, Salvation, Paternal grand parents, Philosophical thinking, devotion to God, Renunciation, Knowledge. Dasa system - Dasa/bhukti/antara periods : Dasa system is followed for timing of an event as per bhava indications. Among different systems Vimshotari system is widely followed. In dasa system each planet gets a leading role as Maha dasa (main period). Within the Main period of a planet all other planets get sub-periods in a definite proportion. Within sub-period of a planet all others planets are allotted sub-sub-periods. Main period is called Mahardasa and subsequent periods are called bhukti, antara, etc. Aggregate of maha dasas of all planets is 120 years. The starting maha dasa and balance thereon at birth time is arrived from the lord of the star where moon is posited at birth time i.e. birth star.
Interpretation of a Horoscope – Principles for Prediction: Caution: Interpretation of horoscope is a matter of decoding divine qualities of zodiac and of planets. Objective analysis is to be made and properly worded to prevent possible errors and ill effects thereto on native’s psychology. - All efforts should be taken to see that this science of Astrology does not create wrong fears or undue confidence.- The duty of Astrologer is to follow a code of discipline to ensure that this divine science is useful t o all.- Accurate and useful prediction is, in a sense, a gut feeling of a good practitioner with a divine blessing.
General reading : Bhava results are blended with rasi tatwa and graha tatwa of other planets associated in any way with bhava or bhava lord. No single planet works in isolation. At any given time, the native is bestowed with a package deal of all planets with leadership of a planet(s). Detailed reading of a horoscope is to be taken up after making divisional charts (shodasavargas) and arriving at the shadbala strength of planets. However, for the benefit of beginners the approach, in brief, for predictions from rasi chart is given below. A stud y in the following three directions is required. 1) A planet in a particular rasi e.g., Sun in Aries / Taurus/ Gemini etc., Moon in Aries, / Taurus/ Gemini etc., and so on. Sun in Aries – active, intelligent, famous etc., when in Taurus- slow and steady, hard worker, intelligent etc., Moon in Aries-likes travelling, impulsive, bold, aggressive etc., Moon in Taurus – Happy, good looking, weaving mind etc., and so on… 2) When a planet is in 1st bhava /2nd/3rd, and so on. E.g., Sun in Lagna – short tempered, lives in foreign land, courageous, wealthy etc., Sun in 2nd bhava – fortunate, poor eye sight, troubles from government etc., Moon in Lagna – if moon is waxing and that lagna is Cancer, Aries, Taurus or Libra nd – handsome, learned otherwise bad effects. Moon in 2 bhava – happy, good friends, wealthy (if full moon), etc.,
3) When a bhava lord is posited in another bhava the results of two bhavas are blended. E.g., the lord of 1 st bhava is posited in 1st bhava – healthy, long-lived, hard-working etc., if in 2nd bhava-Wealthy, respected, leadership etc., if in 3rd- good brothers, courageous, religious etc., Predictions are to be made by observing all the above three directions. For timing of results verify dasa/bhukti/antara etc., period. Also consider the Gochara transit of leading planets and of dasa/bhukti/antara lords to quantify and qualify (benefic/malefic) nature of events. Gochara results: Transit results are studied with reference to lagna, or Chandra lagna. Chandra lagna is the rasi where moon is posited at the time of birth. Counting from Chandra lagna is in wider practice as we see daily / weekly / monthly / yearly forecasts in various journals. One school of thought counts from birth star to a star where planet is posited in transit. By this, the transit results are 3
known for shorter periods. The following tables indicate the results of transit of a planet in different stars counted from birth star in nirayana longitudes. Count the number from birth star to the star where a planet is transiting. As per that number see col. 1 of table I and pick corresponding number of the respective planet from cols. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of same Table . Use that picked num ber in col.1 of Tabl e II to check the result of t hat planet from col.2 of Table II. Table I No.of Star Where Planet is in Col. (1)

Introduction to Palmistry -----------
(This article is to introduce the subject of Palmistry. No exhaustive approach is made here. Reader's are expected to attend classes under an expert guidance, for further studi es and practice.) Synopsis: Introduction; Origin of Palmistry; Significance of Palm - Biological, Psychological; Right Hand and Left hand-Ancient and Modern Theories; Shape of the Hand; Medical palmistry.
Shape of one's hand-and-fingers, the way one close and open his palm indicate much of his personality. Medical studies reveal that the nerve endings in the hands are directly connected to the brain and the lines are the graph of the brain's activity. It resembles the ECG of Heart functions. As such the mentally retarded people have limited lines or no lines. As the changes in personality and life styles occurs, in normal people, the lines in their palms also changes. The patterns on our hands merely reflect what's already happened and how the native act or react in a given situation in future. Palms reveal the strength and weaknesses of the natives. Origin of Palmistry Palmistry is an age old science. As per Hindu mythology Palmistry is a part of ‘Anga Vidya’ (Physiognomy) which was first invented by Sea God ‘SAMUDRA’ – so the subject is named as Samudrika Sastra b y sages like Narada and Gargya. Lord Skanda is held to be pattern deity of this science. It is also felt that all Gods, Goddesses and all sacred rivers have their symptoms shown in different parts of the palm. In an old story it is said that the Prime Minister of Dusyamtha told Sakunthala that if the palm of child to be born signify signs of royal birth the King will accept her as Queen. Napolean said ‘perhaps the face can deceive but never the hand’. Significance of Palm: It is studied in two parts (1) Biological significance, and (2) Psychological significance. A. Biological significance of Palm – Chirognomy: Gives Biological significance – deals with Shape and development of the hand , fingers and nails. Pale color- Weak constitution.
Fingers – signs of health troubles-i.e., short fingers indicate hasty nature
Yellow eyes- Jaundice
First finger (pointing )– lungs defects
Coated Tongue – indicate stomach troubles.
Middle finger – liver and stomach condition
Hand color- indicate vitality of person
Third – kidneys
Hand shape – Shape of brain centre and its development.
Last (little)- Genetic and Sex troubles
Nails -
Nails – Show health and vitality
1
B. Psychological significance of Palm-Chiromancy – Gives Psychological significance – deals with the interpretation of lines on the hand. i. Pattern of Papillary ridges – formed in the fourth month of pregnancy (i.e., while in mother’s womb) and they do not change throughout life. These patterns exhibit physical and mental defects – kidney, rheumatism, ulcer, asthma etc., which the person has acquired prior to birth – congenital. ii. Palm is divided into three zones
Conscious – will power; Sub-Conscious – hidden characteristics of the p erson Middle – social adaptability of the person
iii. Texture of hand – refinement of mind; iv. Elasticity of hand – adaptability & quickness of mind; v. Color of hand – nature and temperament of person; vi. Fingers & Nails – culture, ambitions, many angularities of mind. Right Hand & Left hand - Ancient theories adopted right hand for men and left hand for women for the following reasons. Right hand is active and left is passive – In olden days men played active role while women are submissive, passive and dependent on men for their l ivelihood. Merits, strengths and weakness are revealed in active r ight hand – while they are suppressed in the right hands of passive, sub missive and dependent women. According to Hindu system indication of marriage is to be studied on the left hand on men and on the right hand of women Left hand is to be studied for children up to 14 years.
Latest theories indicate that Right or left handedness is a product of evolution. In child hood both hands are used up to an age of around two years like a primitive man. Left hand indicates one's sentiments and desires while the right hand reveal the possibility of the fulfillment of desires. Left handedness among men may be due to faulty position in mother's womb- mostly seen in twins.
Modern theorists do accept that among generations it is proved that right handedness is considered as normal while the left handedness is considered as abnormal. As such the... Right hand reveal mental development and intellectual level while the left hand indicate the inner world – sub-conscious mind, hereditary characteristics etc., Left hemisphere in brain shows the co nscious behavior and is connected to the right hand. Right hemisphere in brain show sub-conscious behavior and is connected to the left hand. Hence left handed people show abnormal traits. Left handed people lack average intelligence and find difficult in reading and memorizing letters and numbers. YET it is not a rule that left handed people are of less intelligence. Many left handed people can be seen with extra ordinary life styles. Men with left handedness may aim at a successful career by developing special skills. Papillary ridges on both the hands are formed in the fourth month of the baby while in mother's womb. In case of mentally defective persons, the papillary ridges show a complicated net work in left hand because of the defects in right hemisphere. These papillary ridges show defective formation in right hand in case of feeble minded persons who do not have study outlook.
The Shape of the Hand -There are three main types of hands: round, square, and rectangular. 2
Round, you are the active type. Quick-thinking, quick-acting, always on the go, always trying to get ahead, ambitious, and goal-oriented. Square, it indicates, as you might suspect, that you are earthy, hard-working, and capable of solving problems (especially those of a logical natu re). Rectangular, you are more of a thinker, a crea tive type, more in dreaming.
Palmistry deals with many items like skin types, hand and finger Combinations, life line, head line, heart line, fate line health line, sun line, auspicious and inauspicious marks etc., are studied to reveal various phases of life.
A separate branch as Medical Palmistry is very famous to diagnose in advance the probable ill health and cure. For example, if three or four short parallel vertical lines are seen under little finger the native is blessed with a wonderful healing touch. This is called the Medical Stigmata, so named because those who have it tend to cure illness much easily. *********

Mundane Astrology- Natural Calamities – Earthquakes * by Prof. C.Sambasiva Rao , Chairman, Universal College of Astrology.Hyderabad . (* Published in Annual Souvenir -2011 - Jyotirvastu Vignana Samstha, Hyderabad)
Synopsis: Introduction-Types of Earthquakes-Earthquake prone areas - Effects of Earthquakes- Timing of Earthquakes- symptoms around the occurrence of earthquakesEarthquakes are known from ancient times and our ancestors took considerable interest in describing the causes. Earthquake is a cosmic accident where the four elements viz., Wind, Fire and Water along with Indra cause the earth to shake. Discussion on causes of earthquakes had been a perennial topic in ancient Indian literature. Classical texts concerning natural phenomena are to be carefully interpreted. Brihat S amhita (B.S.) of Varahamihira (5– 6th century AD) and Adbhuta Sagara (A.S.) of Ballala Sena (10–11th century AD) are notable books about earthquakes. Parashara was of the opinion that eclipses and planetary aberrations could also cause earthquakes. Recent research studies on the subject from eminent scholars from India and abroad are also contributing in this area. Types of Earthquakes - Depending on the time of occurrence and the ruling stellar configuration the earthquakes are classified into four groups. An earthquake which occurs from north in the last quarter of the night or in the first quarter of the day under any a star group belongs to the Wind group (vayavya). Similarly, earthquakes of the Agni (fire), Indra and Varuna (water) group originate from south, east and west, respectively and are governed by specific star groups. So far the effort has been only to group the earthquakes after their occurrence, according to some recognizable attributes. Earthquake prone areas – Areas are given in classical texts li ke Brihat Samhita which are to be carefully identified with their present-day equivalents. Ancient writings indicate that Vayutype earthquakes are most destructive and the Agni, Varuna , and Indra-type earthquakes are comparatively less harmful. The extent of ground shaking indicated is 200 yojanas during Vayu-type earthquake and 90,80 and 70 correspondingly for Agni, Indra and Varuna (one yojana=6miles). Varaha Mihira agrees only with the vayu-type value and for the other three, his values are Varuna-type 180, Indra -type 160, and Agni-type 110 yojanas. Varahamihira’s approach of describing earthquakes in terms of the extent of ground shaking is refreshingly scientific. Effects of Earthquakes-Vayu-type earthquakes lead to extensive destruction of houses, towers and forts followed by windstorms within a week after such an earthquake. Agni-type earthquake induces surface fires engulfing villages and towns. Rivers and water sources dry up. Indra -type tremors, lead to rains and elimination of colonies. Varuna-type earthquake kills people living along river and sea coasts.
Earthquakes were also supposed to indicate the impending death of kings, outbreak of wars and epidemics. Buddhists believe that important persons will die at the time of earthquakes. Buddha himself said to have interpreted the earthquake occurred before his Nirvana at Kushinagara in 483 BC as the sign that he would soon pass away into Nirvana. Timing of Earthquakes- Some remarkable events like the time of eclipses, bad aspects of malefic planets, Sun's ingress, full moon, new moon etc., can be mathematically calculated in advance – where as the exact time of earthquake cannot be so calculated. These mathematical calculations are based on the rotation and revolving of planetary bodies. The occurrence of earthquakes, tsunami etc., are the results of the sudden disorders of the five elements (pancha
1
bhutas) due to the changes in gravitational forces among the planets in certain configurations. Nature has yet to reveal to the humanity the results of the disorderly changes in gravitational forces. However, earthquake prone areas are getting identified from centuries. Hence certain areas are getting thinly populated or suitable infrastructure is made to withstand the tremors of lower/ certain higher order. However, heavy tremors are causing damages. Classical writers and research observations reveal the following symptoms around the occurrence of earthquakes. -
(1) Earthquakes generally follow or precede the eclipses they happen near about the time of eclipse. The country/place in which the eclipse occurs may not be free from danger. ; (2) At the time of earth-quakes, adverse connections between Mars and Saturn (conjunction, opposition, aspect etc.) have been noted.; (3) Earthy signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) (some refer to fixed signs i.e. Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) and the planets therein also matter with regard to occurrence of earth-quakes. Saturn in a fixed sign at the distance of 45 degrees from meridian, it is stated that the earthquake will occur in that part of the world which is at the same distance from Greenwich, east or west-depending on the position of Saturn.(This is to be verified with past events); (4) The timing of occurrence of earthquakes has been noticed between mid-day and sunset or between midnight and su nrise.; (5) A major planet has been noted to be 'Retrograde' at the time of earthquake.; (6) The Ruling Nakshtra has been found to b elonging to earth or air. ; (7) Moon and Mercury must conjunct and come in the same Nakshtra.; (8) Earth-quakes generally happen when there are many planets in or near the movable (Cardinal signs) i.e. Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.; (9) Frequent happening of earthquakes is indicated when the planets like Uranus, Saturn, Mars, or Jupiter occupy Taurus and Scorpio.( this can be verified with past events in the earthquake prone areas like Japan ); (10) In Brihat Samhita, reference has been made to bad omens for causing earthquakes. Other principle is that the Moon be stretched like the yoke of a carriage from the south to the north, there would be earthquakes. An eclipse is heralded by some usual occurrences such as earthquake and terrific thunder. If the earthquake is after an eclipse there would be death of a leading king. Research studies in this aspect of the last century are revealing the following from a chart drawn at the time o f Sun's ingress into Aries sign: (1) For an earthquake to happen in the year, severe affliction of 8th house or its lord must be indicated (8 th house denotes mass deaths and mass tragedies which do happen in earthquakes also). (2) Eclipses falling at quadrants to Jupiter, Saturn or Mars also produce earthquakes. (3)The area of the occurrence is generally indicated by the zodiacal sign in which the above combination occur.-Further studies are to be made in this. Examples from Earthquakes caused in India and China -
(1) Massive earth quake occurred in Bihar on 15th Jan, 1934. It was a New Moon day and 2
seven planets were in Capricorn (Movable and Airy sign). The Sun, The Moon and Mars were in exact conjunction in Uttarashada ruled by the Sun, lord of 8th from the Moon . (2) The earthquake caused in airy sign-Gemini ascendant - in Tangshan, (China) - Estimated death toll was as high as 655,000.Five planets in 2nd house (moveable sign). New Moon on 27th July, 1976 was in Pushyami star of Saturn. The Moon and Mercury have a significant role to play in causing earthquakes. Except Jupiter and Nodes (Rahu and Ketu) all planets were clustered within an arc of 45 degrees. th
(3) On 11 October 1737, about 4 to 5 lakh people died due to earthquake near Kolkatta. That time Saturn was in Gemini Ascendant and Mars in 4 th house with Sun and the 12 th lord Venus rd th th with Rahu in 3 house from ascendant and 4 from 12 Taurus. th
(4) On 15 Jan 1934, on a new moon day, earthquake occurred in Bihar when 7 planets were th in Capricorn -earthy sign. Mars was exalted with its 8 aspect on Leo. th
th
(5) On 26 January 2001 in Gujarat strong earthquake caused when Saturn -12 lord (Aquarius lagna) was in 4 th and 4 th lord Venus was in lagna aspected by Saturn. This was th th preceded by two eclipses – solar eclipse on 25 Dec. 2000 and lunar eclipse o n 9 Jan 2001. th
(6) There was a configuration of 8 planets in the movable sign Capricorn on 4 Feb.1962. Rahu in cancer, Uranus and Pluto in Leo, Neptune in Libra - all other planets in Capricorn a moveable sign. No serious incidents reported to have occurred from the earthquake prone areas. But on February 3, 1962 at 12:44 a.m. on Saturday, there was an earthquake at Fayetteville, Arkansas- It was also felt in Missouri, Kentucky, and Illinois .The earthquake was followed by a minor tremor about an hour and a half later. Saint Louis University reported a magnitude of 4.2 earthquake that was located about 150 miles south of Saint Louis, Missouri. Example from Earthquakes caused in Japan:
The earthquakes of Japan - in 1923 there was a very devastating earthquake followed by frequent occurrences till 2011. By this Japan was considered as an earthquake prone area. Besides the earthquakes the country was also subjected to severe bomb blasts in Second World War. Yet, Japanese are known for their productive skills. Example (1) The 1923 earthquake is also known as Great Tokyo Fire of 1923 as the fire spread from the charcoal or wood burning stoves when the many people were preparing their lunch at 11.58 local time – mid day. Many of the stoves were toppled over due to the shaking of earth and the fire spread over. A tsunami was also generated resu lting into a loss of 1.5 lakh people and much property. Example (2) Earthquake of 2011-This time earthquake and tsunami was preceded by Lunar eclipse on 21 st Dec.2010 and Solar eclipse on 4 th Jan.2011. This year in addition to the bad planetary configuration the position of SUPER MOON reappearance after about 18 years caused an increase in its gravitational pull upon the Earth leading to higher tides with consequential earthquakes. As a result of the frequent earthquakes, Japanese construction standards for public buildings were changed suitably. Tokyo was reconstructed with better transportation services and more parks were created as areas of refuge. Hence, in spite of the vast damage in 2011 tsunami - Japan is able to withstand in World Map. This indicates the man's intelligence in making use of the natural benefits despite natural calamities. Japanese are known for their productive skills round the clock.
Hope that all other countries should tr y to follow the Japanese dedication in building stro ng infrastructure with sound will power for a global prosperity. *** 3

A brief Note on Retro Planets
{Contents :Introduction- Retrograde frequency of Planets- Retro Planet as Karmic indicator Influence of Retro Planet on Nerve centers - chakras- in human body- Astrological mode of Study of Retro Planets- Analyzing Birth charts with and without retro planets- Effects of Retro Planets in birth charts- Effects of retro planets from different ascendants- Suggestions to be given to natives- Example of birth charts with retro planets - References in brief. } INTRODUCTION: Horoscopes are drawn and analyzed on the basis of astronomical speed of planets. Some horoscopes indicate “Retro Planet” if the planet is going back. In real cosmic setup no planet moves “backward” or even “slow down” in its orbit. So retrogression is termed as an “apparent” phenomenon.
Retrograde-station-direct cycles are essentially illusions from Earth’s point of view. This is because the Earth is also orbiting around Sun with a different speed. Men on Earth do not feel the speed of Earth and feels that other planet is going back. A retro planet is considered as away from Sun than in its normal times and so less combust. With this low combustion the retro planet becomes more independent and their effect on Earth is more intensive. As per classical t heories. “vakri balopetha ” is the normal dictum. d
In mathematical part - in arriving at “Shabala” and the “Avastas” of planets mot ional strength (Chesta bala), Powerful motion (Saktaavasta) and accelerated movement (bheetaavasta) of planets are calculated. Coming to the predictive part, the impact of a retro planet is considered as different from that of its normal times. Predictive theories differed in giving importance to the retro position of planets. However, the study of retro planets is useful to know the native’s past karma influence if his birth chart has any retro planet(s). Study of a retro planet is, in fact, revealing valid information on the past karmic influence of the native. Retrograde frequency of Planets: Following is the frequency of planets “retro” movements: Sun and Moon never seen on retro motion. Rahu and ketu - being points of intersection are always seen on reverse motion in the horoscope.

Retro Planet - A Karmic indicator: Study of retrograde planets as a KARMIC indicator is based on its influence on native’s body and consciousness. Human body is composed of five elements (pancha bhutas). Native’s consciousness is developed through the nerve centers i.e, Chakras (nerve centers) and on body’s sense organs (Jnanendriyas and Karmendriyas). Sahsrara and Ajna chakras are under the influence of Sun and Moon. Other chakras are under the influence of other five planets as detailed below. Retro Planet influence on Chakras- Retrograde Planets influence the primary structure of the human consciousness and its relationship with its human life. By blocking the CHAKRAS and complicating the Pancha bhutas, they create disconnection and imbalances, inability to control the senses. An individual has to understand their retrograde planets and nurture them to bring back to harmony. The following is an indication of the Planets and their connection to chakras and elements. Planet Mars

Native do not understand their own power and do not know how to use it properly. Retro Mercury - Talking too much or No talking at all. If retro Mercury is also combust - Native is unsure of using his Mercury qualities.

Astrological Study of retro planets revolves round the analysis of: Impact of transiting retrograde planets whenever make sensitive angles to the sensitive points in the natal chart. Sensitive points in the natal chart are 9 points of planets and 12 points of house cusps. This study is to be made in two ways i.e,
(i) (ii) (iii)
Natal charts with one or more retro planets; Natal chats with no retro planets; and Horary charts- (detailed study of horary charts not i ncluded in this article)
Analysis of Birth Charts- While analyzing a birth chart one must observe the following to know the impact of a transiting retro planet on natal positions of p lanets and house cusps.
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Lordship and placement of any retro planet at birth and /or in its transit p osition. One or more planet(s) in retro – at birth – and / or transit Dasa / bhukti lords etc., while in retro motion. Duration of retro planets in transit and its relation to the running dasa /bhukti lords. Whether retro planet is a significator for the bhava results under study. Whether a retro planet is cancelling any good yoga formed in birth chart -i.e., yoga bhanga e.g. Ruchika yoga is spoiled if Mars is retrograde. 7. Whether the retro planet is exalted / debilitated in natal or transiting positions 8. Connection of other planets with retro planet(s) at birth and/or in transit. 9. Duration of retro - stagnant - direct motion of the retro planet. 10. Is retro planet in the STAR of a direct / retro planet (in stellar astrology). 11. Is it Natal chart / question chart under study ( Retro motion is not considered in natal chart in K.P.System) Effects of retro planets in Natal Chart :: Eminent authors have differed in their views. The actual results from a retro planet depend much on the strength and weakness of the natal chart. There is need to analyze birth chart with retro planets because of present day complex 3

and complicated life events. Following are some of the views of prominent authors on the effect of a retro planet in Natal Chart. i. ii. iii.
iv. v. vi. vii. viii. ix.
Karkatwa of a retro planet works in an adverse manner. Retro planet in birth chart – indicate the deficiency of that chakra in the body and of that karakatwa at birth time. Retro planet as a karmic planet – indicates more about bad karma committed by the native in his previous life connected to that karakatwa. What happened exactly in previous life cannot be narrated –literally – but a retro planet indicates the area of error(s) basing on its karakatwa. A debilitated planet if in retro motion – gives good results An exalted planet if in retro motion – give difficulties in the dasa period of that retro planet. Retro planet exalted in Rasi and debilitated in Navamsa varga – indication is GOOD result in the dasa periods of that planet. Functional benefics - if in retro motion – give GOOD results Functional malefic - if in retro motion – give BAD results A retro planet during retro motion is likely to enter into previous sign - even then such retro planet continue to give the result of the sign where it started retro motion. Jupiter is an exception to this. Jupiter gives the result of the sign where it is posited actually. For example: (1) Saturn started retro motion in libra and happen to enter Virgo during the period of retro motion - Saturn give the results of Libra sign while in Virgo also. (2) Jupiter starts retro in Gemini and happens to enter into Taurus. Jupiter gives the results of Gemini while in Gemini and of Taurus while in Taurus.
Effects of Birth time Retro Planets on different Ascendants Any planet when it is retrograde that retro planet to which house it is vyayadhipati (12th lord) becomes powerless to spoil that house. e.g., for Aquarius lagna native nd th Jupiter is 2 and 11 lord and if Jupiter is retrograde and running its dasa the native enjoys the results of 3 and 12. This mean that Jupiter is retro Kumbha lagna native matters like change of place, change of job, sale of house etc., will take place. In short, when a planet is retrograde it gives the results of a bhava succeeding to the bhavas owned by that retro planet. This is indicated, for 12 lagnas, in the following table. Native's Ascendant

Interested learners and seekers of actual readings are well advised to approach experts in the field. ************************************** INTRODUCTION Numerology is based on the study of reactions between ethereal vibrations of human body and of the universe. The ethereal force which operates by way of vibrations on the life on Earth differs from day to da y. Every individual’s life events, tastes, c haracters and professions etc., are determined by the reactions of the ethereal vibrations of his physical body and that of the Universe. These ethereal vibrations of the invisible Astral Plane are of NINE types like that of the Destiny Numbers of the individuals arrived in Numerology. Three greatest innovations of mankind are the base for human development. They are 1) Music -wondrous compilations of sound vibrations; and 2) Photography-handful storing of light rays; 3) Mathematics – counting to the infinity. Numerology is based on mathematics out of the above. Numerology, the so-called pseudoscience, is one of the most ancient skills. It was first founded in the old cultures of Egypt, Babylonia, China and India. It was used to discover the features and elements of the person's character according to their date of birth as well as their name and last name. With its 5000 years of experience has well settled, all over the Globe, in analyzing the complex human behavior. Pythagoras, a Greek philosopher and mathematician, has formally organized this field in ancient Greece. Those ancient people believed that through numerology they can understand one's inner soul and outer personality, the visible and hidden competences, one's virtues and flaws, one's likes and dislikes, the person's motivation in life, the suitable love partners and friends, a s well as one's past and future life.
More methods were invented through history. However, the most reliable methods are those of 1
Jewish kabbalah and Pythagorean School.
Many people strongly believe in the symbolic and even magical meaning of numbers which can affect a person's life. Philosophy of Numerology Fundamental premise of numerology is that life and the universe as a whole is in an orderly base. Numerology by definition mean orderly. Universe maintains not only its form and structure but also changes in a precise and orderly way.
Orderliness is seen in the unfolding sequence of molecular world (DNA) pattern to the developing of a child. The arc of life is consistent and stable since about 2 million years of human habitation. Thus, there is no randomness in creation. For example three decades ago heart diseases were field random. Today it is understood that the cause of any illness is in daily behavior and eating patterns. Natural science was merely the tool that was used to discover the underlying orderliness known as GOD. Out of this consciousness came such spiritual sciences as numerology. Numerology is based on the underlying unity. Names and date of birth(s) are connected to the deepest inner being of the man. Only intuitive mind is capable of perceiving and interpreting these relationships. Names are not accidental. Name is a collection of sounds, a melody and in their deep and perfect way reflect the person. The rhythmic sound of the name given by the parent has a relationship to the vibrations emanating from the child since the time of conception. The interaction of the vibrations of name circulated in the human society has its own revelations. Thus, naming and changing of names has become a scientific play. Numerology and Hypnosis Every action one takes and every observation one make, whether consciously or not is permanently stored somewhere in sub consciousness. One's ability to retrieve such information is interestingly useful. Everyone has an unique retrial system. In fact this is the base of theory of Hypnosis.
A numerologist also uses such retrieval method to trace a lost object. Principles of Hypnosis are so used in Numerology. For instance ; 'to trace the lost object'. The person who is seeking the help of numerologist is asked to select a number in a particular process which resembles the art of hypnosis. He is asked to sit calmly and recollect the surroundings where he had seen the lost object for the last time and in that condition is made to spell a number for examination by the numerologist. No Number is better than any other number Objectively no number is better than any other number. So any preference to a particular number or numbers is purely subjective.
All numbers have positive and negative aspects. They can be considered better when their vocational attributes are examined i.e., four 4s make excellent accountant, five 5s make better sales people etc., 2
Each number has a certain character or personality i.e., 3- creativity, 5-dynamic nature, 6responsibility etc., Perhaps all that characteristics are in a person but some are more pronounced. It is this link between the character of a particular number and those same traits within him sparks an unconscious recognition or attraction to a number or color. Our attraction to a particular number is like preference for a certain color. Colors influence our moods as a reflection of our inner state. Numerology and Astrology Some astrologers believe that each number from 0 to 9 is ruled by a Celestial body in our Solar system. The layout below is the most widely accepted system amongst modern astrologers but there are other conflicting systems as well like Kabalistic system.
Zero – Pluto; 1-Sun; 2- Moon; 3- Jupiter; 4- Sun / Uranus; 5-Mercury; 6-Venus; 7Moon/Neptune; 8-Saturn; 9-Mars. Each astrological sign has long been associated with a particular number beginning with : 1-Aries; 2-Taurus; 3-Gemini; 4-Cancer; 5-Leo; 6-Virgo; 7-Libra; 8-Scorpio; 9-Sagittarius; 10-Capricorn; 11-Aquarius; 12-Pisces. Benefits of Numerology Numerology give meaningful advice for all types of situations in human life by describing the cycles one experiences during the course of his life.
Consulting an expert Numerologist, at a right time, definitely helps anyone in many ways for a happy and prosperous life. It is a way to gain greater insight and understanding into inner being and true nature. It reveals, assesses character and personality in a way that is fresh and inspiring. It gives helps to provide self-knowledge to success and freedom. Having a greater insight into strengths and weaknesses helps in every aspect of life. It provides greater perspective on life and prepares for future. It helps to know, in advance, health problems, financial difficulties, accidents etc., Systems of Numerology Alphabetical system: All over the world there are a number of systems with different definitions in conversion of alphabets to numerical value.
Examples include the Abjad numerals in Arabic, the Hebrews numeral, Armenian numerals, Geek numerals. Jewish tradition assigns mystical meaning based on their numerical values and on connections between words of equal value, is known as gematria. 1=a,j,s 2=b,k,t; 3=c,i,u etc., and then summed.. Different methods of calculations exist, including Chaldean, Pythagorean, Hebraic, Helyn Hitchcock's method, Phonetic, Japanese, Arabic, India, Chinese etc., Calculations in different systems are based on decimal arithmetic/ binary/octal/hexadecimal and vigesimal. Summing the digits in t hese different systems yields different results.
3
Chinese numerology Chinese assign a different set of definitions to the numbers. They also consider certain number combinations are luckier than others. In general, even numbers are considered lucky since it is believed that good luck comes in pairs.
Chinese Number Definitions : 1-sure; 2-easy; 3-live; 4-considered unlucky since the pronunciation of 4 is a homonym with the word for death or suffering, 5- the self me, nothing, never, 6-easy and smooth; 7- a slang/ vulgar word in Cantonese; 8- sudden fortune, prosperity; 9-long in time, a slang/vulgar word in Cantonese . Some lucky number combinations include: 99-doubly long in time, hence eternal; 168-road of prosperity; 518- I will prosper; 814- similar to 168 – 'be wealthy, entire life' 148 also implies the same; 'entire life be wealthy' According to the numerological theories, the most important influence in a person's life have the numbers from the date of birth as w ell as the unique number from the name and last name that is found by the defined numerological tables.
Methodology in NumerologyThis needs a good reading and thorough practice to gain expertise. However, a brief is given here to know about the process. By taking the data like birth date, time, name in full, popular name etc.., numerologist, in his own expert way make a chart and to proceed for readings and predictions. Some of the terms used by numerologist – are 1. Name number ; 2. Personality number; 3. Destiny number; 3. Plan of Expression – mental level-Physical level-emotional level-; 4 . Life Path; 5. Generation number..etc., Number definitions- There are no set definitions to the meaning of specific digits. Common examples include:
0 -Everything or absoluteness. 1-Individual – Aggressor. 2- Balance – Union. Receptive 4
3- Communication/interaction. Neutrality. 4- Creation 5- Action. Restlessness 6- Reaction/flux. Responsibility 7- Thought/ Consciousness 8- Power/Sacrifice. 9- Highest level of Change 10-Rebirth Specific characteristics of numbers
Numbers can be seen as 'archetypes'. They represent human qualities in greater or lesser quantities. Each Numb er has an Archetypal quality. e.g., No.1- embodies masculinity, a strong drive, i ndividuality and determination, No.2- Quality of sensitivity, femininity,co-operation and gentleness, Each number is the opposite of the next number. i.e., No.1 is the opposite of No.2. And No.2 is the opposite of No.3. Clear and defined personality of each number helps to predict each number's response to any given situation. A number do possess nuances within its field of characteristics that are enhanced or diminished due to its place in the chart. Also a number can complement other number and enhance and support each other. Numbers are so much like people that getting to know them is a continuing process. Shape of Numbers and Symbolic Psychology

Importance of Panchama Bhava Need of Holistic approach: In the analysis of Panchama bhava one need to keep in mind the need of a holistic approach to the birth / horary chart. No bhava or a planet can be separated from among others.
General precaution about differences in Rasi chart and Bhava chart.
Notice the difference in rasi chart and bhava chart. Bhava chart is to be used for bhava results. Span of a bhava spreads into more than one zodiac sign. In some case of births - mostly which are away from equator- some intercepted signs are likely. It is the signs that intercept and not bhavas. In the case of intercepted signs bhavas spread into more than two signs. Some signs do not get any bhava sputa. Careful analysis is needed in cases of intercepted signs. System of bhava division adopted is to be carefully noted. In Sripati system of bhava division bhava middle sputa is the important bhava sputa. In others like placidious system -adopted in K P system - bhava arambha sputa is important. Sign lord of the important bhava sputa - i.e., middle in Sripati system and beginning in Placidus system is the bhava lord. Strength of a planet differs in a bhava depending on its proximity from bhava sputa beginning , middle or ending. Sometimes a planet’s sign lord and bhava lord are likely to differ depending on its placement. In such cases effects of such a planet is to be studied in the light of that planet’s karakatwa plus its position in a particular bhava plus the qualities of the sign position. Never ignore the zodiac sign behind the planet and its bhava position.
General rule for rasi or bhava analysis is to treat the lagna / Moon lagna / Sun lagna as the first bhava depending on their strength. For example take famous Sachin tendulkar chart - In his birth chart - Moon sign is more important. From Sagittarius i.e., Moon lagna - Aries is 5 th and 9 th is Leo. 5th lord and 9th lord are exalted in 2nd and 5th from Moon lagna. Mars is also aspecting 9 th bhava and its lord Sun. Mars conjoined with Jupiter - Moon lagna lord. Jupiter debilitation is cancelled. Mars given energy to play while Jupiter and 9th lord Sun is giving Wealth, honour, name and fame. 9th lord being Sun and is exalted in 5th native got highest honor at young age. viz., Bharat Ratna from Government of India.

Moon in 9th bhava (5th to 5th ) gives one child - if that bhava sign is odd one many children.
Hence the benefic effects of any bhava and consequent success of native depends much on the strength of the interdependent bhavas and the lagna and 11 th bhava.
Panchama bhava and Divisional Charts:
Supplementing with the study of divisional charts gives better clarity and confirmation of the revelations of panchama bhava. Fro example use of 5 th house in Saptamsa divisional chart revelas about progeny, while 5th in Vimsamsa stands for mantra etc., in Chaturvimsamsa 5th house shows both intelligence and success in education.
Saptamsa -Denial of children -is likely if Mercury, Saturn and or Venus are in trine to Saptamsa lagna. Mercury and Saturn are eunuch planets to deny fertility. Venus may lead to natives association with too many and the chances for progeny are narrowed. Saptamsa- indication of Adoption - Mars and Saturn connection to the trine of Saptamsa lagna indicate adopted children. This configuration also indicate the children of a divorce / widow who is in second marriage with the native.

For further clarifications in any critical chart one may resort to Arudha pada of 5 th bhava .
Ashtakavarga system - Panchama bhava study For bhava result use bhava chart and for transit results use rasi chart in Ashtakavargu system. It is to be noticed here that kaksha division is an equal division of 30 degrees of a stabdardised zodiac sign. So for transit results Rasi chart to be used in Ashtakavargu. To anlyse panchama bhava in Ashtakavargu - the general rule is that Bhavas with 30 or more points give very good results: with 25 to 30 points are medium and Less than 25 give inferior results. For further analysis verify the contribution of each planet to this bhava. Planet-wise results of 4 or more benific bindus from a planet is as follows: Sun - Patience, Male children, loves to help others. Worships Sun Moon - self-less service ; love with sacrifice; mental illness; female children; Worshiping Ardhanareeswara with Gowri mata. helps Mars - Leadership; desire to attract others; Pretends to love to attract others; Male children; prone to abortions; Worshiping Subramanya Swamy helps. Mercury - Good mathematical skill; All activities are business like; Worshippinng Vishnu helps Jupiter - Intelligence; Self-less liking; Male children; Worshipping Dattareya helps Venus - Likes beautiful things; Artistic view; Female children; Love is diplomatic and not real. Saturn - Lazy in thoughts and actions; Male children; Worshipping Hanuman helps.
Pancham bhava as Mantra bhava : If the 11 th lord is connected to 5th bhava - native becomes religious. If 5th lord is in 7th he/she respects all religions. 12th lord in 5th - go on pilgrimages with prayers to beget a child Benefics in 5th - native is blessed to do meditation If benefics are associated with 5 th they worship satvick deities and if malefic dominate they resort to worship kshudra devatas. If there is a predominance of masculine sign (odd) and planets they worship male form of deities - if it is of feminine sign (even) they worship feminine form of deities. 5th bhava strength do reveal the spiritual growth of the native -
Example - Male native (1963) - lagna -Cancer, 5th is strong with placement of Mars, Venus and Mercury and also aspected by retarted Jupiter from 9 th -own sign Pisces. Saturn own sign makara in 7th with aspect on Jupiter, lagna and Sun debilitated in Libra. - Native’s education at high school level is weak and his performance excelled with rewards at post graduate level in science and technology. However, he shifted from technology and dedicated, as a monk, to the higher levels of study with practical applications in spiritual field. This can be attributed to strong 5 th house and aspect of Saturn on Jupiter, lagna and Sun. Arudha
of Panchama bhava - Putraarudha - Mantrarudha
Arudha pada of 5th bhava is also known as Mantrarudha, Putrarudha. Application of Arudha principle in the study of a chart removes the illusions of a bhava indications while highlighting the real strength of that bhava.
9
For example - Potential 5 th bhava indicate good intelligence of the native. It is not certain that all intelligent people are successful. The certainty of success is indicated by the arudha of 5th bhava. So ensure to study a bhava and its arudha to come to reality of situation.
Arudha padas - to determine Fertility of natives.- Method of DEHA from Jaimini Sutras. This is based on rasi chart. Arrive at the Arudha padas of 3 rd and 9th from Sun and Lagna. From Sun it determines the ability to sustain Atma. From lagna it indicates the ability of body to procreate. If Sun is in 2nd, 5th 8th or 12th from any of these padas - it results in infertility of native. If Venus and Mercury conjoin these padas the native is infertile. If the arudha padas from lagna are afflicted native highly needs medical help. If the affliction is to arudha padas from Sun astrological remedies are essential.
Panchama bhava as PUTRA bhava
If Saturn, Venus and Mercury are in trine the native becomes barren despite of any powerful yoga placements in birth chart. To examine the ability to beget children 9th house in female charts and 5 th in male charts are to be analyzed.
Indications for begetting progeny- Planetary configurations are, in brief, as follows: (i) If 5th lord or 5th lords sign lord or Jupiter is well placed and strong by aspects he gets children though late in life; (ii) Jupiter with, no afflictions, attains Vaiseshikamsa (in varga charts) and occupies 1st /4th/5th/7th/9th/10th bhava - progeny is indicated; (iii) Lagna lord and 5th lord in kendras with benefic connections and strong 2nd lord; (iv) If lagna lord in 7th and 2nd lord in lagna with the conjunction of 9th and 7 th lords; (v) If navamsa lors of 7th lord is well placed and aspected by lagna lord, 9th lord and 2nd lord. If the 5th house is in any alpaputra sign i.e., Taurus/ Leo/ Virgo/ Scorpio and that house or its lord is weak or connected to bad planets such native will have one or two children. Late progeny - Native will beget children in middle age if any of the following combinations are seen in rasi or navamsa or bhava chart. if Saturn in lagna, Jupiter in 8 th and Mars in 12th ; or if Mars in lagna, Saturn in 8th , and Sun in Leo/Taurus/ Virgo /Scorpio; or If Moon in 11th , any two planets in lagna and two ( natural) malefic planets in 5 th from Jupiter or 5th to that 5 th . Twin children - If Aquarius or Scorpio signs have two lords - if those signs happen to be the house of pregnancy / child twins are likely. Some authors have added Gemini and Virgo because of the dual nature of their lord -Mercury. Children die earlier to native - If 5th house is aspected by Mars with no benefic connection his / her children may die earlier to native. But if that 5 th house is either Aries or Scorpio only the first son will die at early age and not others.
10
Example : Birth charts of Couple - who are hale and healthy now at their 84 th year and 78th year. In their middle age they lost many infant children and only two sons survived - who are hale and healthy now at their 50 plus age. Details of birth charts - rasi and bhava are : -

Husband Rasi Chart : Lagna-libra-Ketu; Sagittarius - Saturn ( R ); Capricorn - Moon; Aries Venus , Rahu; Taurus -Jupiter,Sun,Mecury ( R) ; Cancer - Mars; Husband’s Bhava Chart : Ketu moved to lagna; Moon moved to 5 th bhava; Rahu moved to 8th and associated with Jupiter, Mercury ( R ) moved to 9 th bhava Wife Rasi Chart: Scorpio lagna - Saggittarius - Jupiter and Rahu ; Aquarius -Saturn and Venus; Aries Mars; Gemini-Ketu; Cancer -Moon; Wife’s Bhava chart ; Jupiter moved to lagna bhava; Saturn, Venus and also Mars moved to 5th bhava . Analysis: In husband’s bhava chart Mars is aspecting 5 th and in wife’s bhava chart Mars is posited in 5 th bhava. In Husband’s charts -Putra karaka Jupiter is in 8 th in rasi and in bhava afflicted by rahu. In wife’s Rasi chart - Putrakaraka Jupiter is afflicted by Rahu.
Adoption of a child o Connection of Saturn and Mars on 5 th 5th lord in barren sign - Aries, Gemini, Leo and Virgo o Affliction of 7th house - shows inability to procreate o o Lagna lord with mercury may damage ability to procreate. o Benefic influence on 5th or 5 th lord is essential. This should be from other than Jupiter. If Jupiter gives benefic influence he can beget a child and no need of adoption. Moon or Venus benefic influence on 5th in general may give a chance to adopt a child. o Even when Jupiter is strong - if 5 th lord or occupant is eunuch the native will adopt a child. If Jupiter is also weak native cannot beget a child. He cannot adopt also. Exmple: Both husband and Wife’s productive capacity is badly spoiled and had esorted to adopt a child.
Husband’s birth chart :20th July 1964 1964 at 20.30 DelhiDelhind Rasi chart - Capricorn lagna- Sat ( R )in 2 ; Jupiter in 4th ; Venus and Mars in 5 th ; Rahu in 6 th ; Sun and Mercury in 7 th ; Moon in 11th and Ketu in 12th -In rasi chart putra karaka Jupiter is in Aries a barren sign and also afflicked by Saturn’s aspect - while 5th lord Venus conjoin with badhaka lord Mars in 5 th In bhava chart. Both Venus and Mars moved to 6 th bhava and associated with Rahu.; while Jupiter moved to 5th bhava. Wife’s birth chart : 7th June 1966 9.50 a.m IST New DelhiIn Rasi Chart - Cancer Lagna - ketu in Scorpio; Moon in Capricorn; Saturn in Pisces; Venus in Aries; Rahu, Sun and Mars (5 th lord) in Taurus -i.e., 11 th bhava and badhaka sthana for Cancer lagna. - Mercury and putra karaka in Gemini a barren sign. In Bhava Chart - Rahu moved to 10 th and associated with Venus. While Ketu moved to 4 th bhava. This Couple are able to adopt a female child because of the benefics in 5 th for husband and in case of wife 5th is aspected by 5th lord Mars.
11
In husband’s chart -7 th is afflicted with Mercury a eunuch planet and sun 8th lord is in 7th.so his reproductive capacity is badly affected. Added to this putrakaraka Jupiter is in barren sign - Aries. In wife’s chart - 5th lord Mars is badhaka lord aspected by Saturn. Putrakaraka Jupiter is in Gemini a barren sign. In case of both husband and wife charts : Jupiter is in barren sign and 5th lords are associated with badhaka sthana or lord. Hence, reproductive ability is badly affected.
o
o
No Children - Family will come to an end - if 5th lord and Jupiter are badly placed and if 5th house or lagna are hemmed between malefic planets. Such natives may not be able to adopt a child also. No children due to curses - - in previous life -Brahma sapa; pitru sapa; matru sapa; satru sapa etc., - to be examined in chart with the placement of karmic planets. For example (i) Rahu in Jupiter signs, (ii) Jupiter debilitated; Jupiter connected to Saturn and Mars .(iii) 6th lord in 5th i.e., maraca for 5 th bhava; (iv) 9 th lord in 8th confirms the curse. In the absence of any curse the remedial measures will be fruitful. Sex of progeny - indication. To know the sex of the child to be born the father’s chart is a better option. Sex of the child to be seen from the house of child or pregnancy i.e., 5 th for first child and 7th for second child and so on… Male children - (i) if 5 th lord is a masculine planet, occupies a masculine sign or navamsa and is reasonably strong; or (ii) Jupiter should be well placed and 5th house is a masculine sign, occupied by masculine planet or must be in masculine navamsa. Female Children - If the 5th house is fully strong as above they get male children otherwise they get female children.
Case: many female children and one male child ( who is not available) : Male native: Rasi chart - No differences in bhava chart - Lagna Capricorn - in Acquarius Mercury; in Pisces Sun, Jupiter and Ketu in rapt conjunction- in Aries Saturn and Moon - in Taurus Venus and Mars in rapt conjunction -in Virgo Rahu.
Analysis : in 5th bhava in Taurus in Male sign - bhava lord Venus posited in rapt conjunction with Mars 4th and 11 th lord. Mars is badhaka lord for Capricorn lagna for native and 4 th lord i.e., 12th to 5 thbhava. After many daughters native got a male child but is not available to his - due to mars badhaka lordship from lagna and 12 th lordship from 5 th. Putra karaka Jupiter though in own sign - is weak because of combustion with Sun and eclipsed in ketu-rahu axis.
Weak 5th bhava leading to native’s death - after a fter delivery of dead baby. Case study - Female native - Aries lagna- Mars (retro) own sign in lagna; Saturn and Ketu in Gemini; Sun in Virgo; Venus and Mercury in Libra; Rah und Moon in Saggittarius Jupiter debilitated in Capricorn. In bhava chart - only Venus moved to 8 th bhava- all others are same.
12
Analysis - 5th bhava is aspected by Saturn - badhaka lord for Aries lagna; Saturn also aspecting 9th (5 th to 5th ) and 12th of native. 5th lord Sun is in Virgo a barren sign - it 6th bhava and is 2 nd to 5th a marka sthana for 5 th bhava. Child died in mothers womb due to jaundice in mother’s 8th month of pregnancy. Jupiter is cause for jaundice diseaseJupiter putrakaraka debilitated in 10th i.e., 6th ( disease house) to 5 th (child house). Such Jupiter has 8th lordship from 5 th and also aspecting 5 th lord Sun in Virgo. Finally mother delivered a dead baby in her 8th month o pregnancy with medical help and inspite of medical care she died within few days of that delivery. Remedies, in brief, for getting progeny - Good number of remedies are prescribed in classical books. This topic is not covered here as it needs to be specially dealt with under expert guidance. However to say, in brief, some of them are like - Putra kameshti Homam, Purusha Sooktam, Ganapati Homa, Maha Ganapathi Beeja Mantra, Santan Gopal Mantra, wearing of kanaka Pusyaraga gem, ayurvedic medicines etc.,
Typical cases - Parents get separated immediately after child birth: Child birth is the result of panchama bhava - is it benefic or malefic to relations with spouse - in marital life- Spouse is departing during pregnancy or after delivery. Needs deep analysis and understanding.
Case No.1 : Female native (1985) : lagna Capricorn putrakaraka (Retro) in lagna; in Aries 4th Rahu ; in Cancer Venus in 7 th - but moved to 8 th ; in Leo 8th Moon, Mars, mercury and Sun; in Libra - Ketu and Saturn - in Bhava chart no change except Venus moving to 8 th . Married in Feb 2012; Female Child birth in May 2013 and living separately from june 2013 Case No.2: Female native (1978) : Rasi chart and bhava chart no differences - In Libra Lagna and Moon ; in Aquarius 5 th - Sun, Mecury and Venus; in Pisces 6 th - ketu; in Gemini 9th Jupiter and Mars (Retro) ;-- in Leo 11 th Saturn (Retro) ;-- in Virgo 12 th Rahu. Badhaka sthana for libra lagna is Leo - lord Sun is in 5 th .-- Badhaka sthana occupied by 4 th and 5th lord Saturn (Retro). -- 5 th also occupied by mercury 8 th lord to 5th bhava. Lady married in 2007 - got a male child in 2008- While in pregnancy trouble started with spouse - after birth of child gone up to court cases - Both are trying to reunite after 5th year of court case case - but unable to set family. Marriage and child birth took place in Saturn x Saturn dasa - 5 th lord in badhaka stana with aspect on 5 th - Saturn as badhaka occupant not allowing reunion of family. Let us hope that a better luck will prevail to reunite them. ==================================
Panchama Bhava study as per K P System Sy stem
About K.P.System in brief: Astrological Systems in astrology can be broadly classified as Sign based, star based and sub -based. Sub-lord is the lord of a part of a star. Here each star is divided into nine unequal parts and a lordship is allotted to each part in the order of Vimshottari dasa lords. Sequence of sub-lordship in each star starts with the star lord of that star. Basically, the strength of a planet or of a bh ava is judged on the basis of it s sub-lord.
K P system, in short is an offshoot of Vedic astrology blended with some principles of western astrology. Any astrologer with a good understanding of Vedic system of astrology can excel in K P system. It is founded by late Guruji Prof. Krishna Murthy in previous century after an exhaustive reading of different systems of astrology. Perhaps, best of all systems are adopted here with no bias to any system
13
Rasi karakatwa, Bhava karakatwa and graham karakatwa are same in any other system of astrology. It is also the same in K P system. Vimshottari dasa system is followed in this system for timing o f events. K.P.system is based on Nirayana bhava chart like in Vedic system. The system adopted is Placidius system of house division as in Western system. For Nirayan system -- K P Ayanamsa (originated from Newcomb, astronomer) is suggested. As an alternative lahiri ayanamsa is also suggested, then itself, by the founder of K P system. Principles and procedure in selecting badhaka and maraca l ords for each lagna are same as in Vedic system. Negative results are indicated, in KP system also, wherever any bhava cusp sub lord is connected to badhaka or maraca lords as per the context. Analysis to assess the bhava results start from th e sub-lord of the bhava sputa. Bhava sputa sub-lord indicates as to whether the bhava result is promised or not to the native. Bhava results are delivered to the native during the dasa periods and transits of the planets posited in the stars owned by the bhava lord.
Note: It is well advised to study this system in detail for its p ractical application. th

A brief note on the influence of Rahu and Ketu Topics covered :: Need of the study of rahu and ketu - Influence of their transits around ( Topics chakras (nerve centers) and endocrine endocrine glands -Transits on imaginary Brigu bindu point in birth chart.\ - Tranist on their natal their natal points.- References:: articles from old Journals and Websites)
Sun and Moon are supreme in planetary system - yet they do get eclipsed by Rahu or Ketu They are Karmic planets and are points of personal eclipses. Their axis serves twin purposes - both mundane and spiritual life - good and bad. The opposing influences from nodes baffle the astrological findings and demand a specific attention. Every planet planet has nodes. Only Moon’s Nodes are considered considered from a long long time. The Moon's nodes are generally believed to be points where relationships with other people are influenced. One school of thought is Moon’s North Node (Rahu) is a point of destiny while the South Node (Ketu) is a point of karmic obstacles. o bstacles. It is interesting to study the role of Rahu and Ketu with their natal positions as well as their transits in natal chart. Earliest use of Rahu -Ketu points were used in Mundane astrology to calculate the time of eclipses. It was, perhaps, prior to the use of these nodes in individual charts. Satyachareeyams monumental versions on stellar lordship of planets is quoted by eminent authors like Varahamira, Varahamira, Saravali etc., YET many differences cropped up in the the use of Moon’s Nodes in predictive p redictive astrology It is because b ecause the Classical astrologers could not relish the Stellar lordship of Rahu and and Ketu especially when when they are not considered considered (1) In rasi chart - for ownership of signs - (2) Not considered in Divisional charts in earlier studies- (3) No mention in Shadbala calculations- as they are exempt from Chesta bala, Kala bala , Directional strength etc., ; (4) No combustion for Rahu and Ketu -(they have no rays), (5)They are not considered for lagna -wise calculation of Marakas / Yoga karakas. They act b y virtue of their position. (6) Even renowned classical authors differed in the Exaltation and Debilitation positions of Rahu and Ketu. (7) In Ashtakavarga system - only Sambhu Hora considered Rahu for Rahu Ashtakavarga - There again the reduction method is not followed. (8) Except in Vimshottari dasa system the Rahu and Ketu are not seen. Even in Ashottari dasa Ketu is not considered. (8) Seasonal cycles are not attributed to Rahu and Ketu.- (9) No rulership is allotted to Rahu and Ketu among the five Elements which are ruled by five planets. Sun is representing the Creator and Moon is for
2
fundamental energy.(10) Three among the Panchanga (Hindu Almanac) d etails -i.e., Tithi, Yoga and Karana have no planetary lordship. But among Stars we have lordship of Rahu and Ketu for six stars. (11) In a week Weekdays (vara ) are allotted to seven planets only- No Rahu vara and Ketu vara. (12) In a Day and Night - Hora division is only among seven planets - No Rahu Hora and Ketu Hora. The classical authors, even among themselves differed about the ownership, exaltation, debilitation, moolatrikona, friend’s, enemiy’s and neutral houses, aspects for these Nodes. However, despite of conceptual differences, it is commonly accepted as the NODES do have an influence in causing human life events. Many oldest books like Satyachareeyam, Manasagari, Jatakaabharanam Sarvardha Chintamani, Phaladeepika, Uttarakalamruta, Laghu Parasari, Brihat parasara Hora Sastra have dealt with the influence of these nodes in the life of human beings. Revival of Stellar theories in practical astrology, of late, has brought back the importance of this study of role of Nodes. Recent evolution of K.P.System is a refinement of the earliest / earlier Stellar theories attuned to understand the way of latest human affairs. The interpretation of the influence of these nodes is very validly helping to bring out more and more details in the present competitive and complex life situations. With this we find in recent global trends the inclusion of the study of MOON’s NODES in by Western astrologers. We also see the use of OUTER planets in India by Vedic astr ologers. In the above context - an attempt is made here to highlight the role of these NODES in TRANSIT astrology. A caution, here, is that transit astrology is essentially to be interpolated with basic influence of any planet / node as per its natal position in individual’s birth chart. Nodes move in the anti- direction to that of planets. Nodes take about 18 and half a year to cover 360 degrees. Following two items from the symptoms of transits are dealt with here. Emphasis in this study is to consider the transit of nodes in the physical development of the body irrespective of the house division i.e., lagna and other houses. Effects of Transit of NODES from Birth time are to be seen in the following aspects.
A. Rahu- transit on the Chakras and Endocrine gland areas in physical body. B. Transit of all planets and nodes on the brigu bindu point in natal chart. i.e., middle point between Rahu and Moon. C. Transiting Rahu and Ketu on their natal points. D. Transiting rahu and ketu on the natal points of all planets in birth chart. ( This is not covered in this article for reasons of brevity) (A) Rahu- transit on the Chakras and Endocrine gland areas in physical body.
Out of the seven chakras Sahasrasara chakra is considered as connecting the native to divine area and is excluded in this study. Other six chakras viz., Ajna, Visudha, Anahata, Manipura, Swadishtana, Muladhara are considered. Chakras are nerve centers in physical body. Endocrine glands which contribute to body’s health are closer to the nerve centers. Glands that are closer to chakras are - Pitutory gland to Ajna chakra; Thyroid gland to Visudha chakra; Thymus gland to Anahata chakra; Pancreas gland to Manipura chakra; Gonad gland to Swadishtana chakra and Adrenal gland to Muladhara chakras.
3
For a broad understanding the endocrine glands are responsible for cell growth in body process while the nervous system (chakras) is responsible for functions like breathing, body movement etc., Both the endocrine system and nervous system functions together to help the body functions. Well known theory is - a sound mind is in a sound body. Coming to the transit of Rahu-Ketu axis since birth time - Transit rahu period in birth chart is studied in two parts. (1) from natal point of Rahu to natal point of Ketu in birth chart; and (2) from natal point of Ketu to natal point of Rahu itself in birth chart. Each transit takes about 9 and odd years in life time. In the first period of this 9 and odd years Transit rahu moves on one side (viz., right side ) of the Nervous system in the body. Its commencement is counted from Ajna chakra i.e., Rahu being the head of the axis. This 9 and odd year’s period is sub-divided among the six chakras in nervous system - with each of about 1 and half years. Each of these sub-periods is very important for the study of growth of physical body and its right / wrong functions later on. Thus, the sub periods are 12 - covering on either side of the nervous system that is - the right and left sides of the chakras and endocrine glands in the body. Triggering of transit Rahu on both sides of the nervous system co ntributes to the good and bad development of physical body. Triggering symptoms of Transit Rahu, in brief, in each of the sub-periods are : Note: In this study - 1. Out of the seven chakras - Sahasrasara chakra is excluded - as it is considered as connecting the native to divine area. Only six are considered. 2. The Ajna Chakra location and other chakras thereon is considered to commence from the natal point of Rahu in a birth chart -irrespective of (a) the natural Zodiac- (kalapurusha - commencing from Aries) (b) house division in natal chart i.e., lagna to 12 houses. (1) First 1.5 years - on right side of Ajna chakra and Pituitary gland- Child is in the growing stage - understanding surroundings - learning to crawl, stand, walk, understanding body language and words from the surroundings. (2) Second 1.5 years - Right side of Visudha Chakra -Thyroid gland- learns words, broken speech etc.,(3) Next 1.5 years -Anahata chakra and Thymus gland- Enjoying and reciprocating mother’s love and of other members in the family. (4) Next 1.5 years - Manipura chakra and Pancreas gland- u nderstands his own personalit y - expresses or demands his own likings and desires -try to exercise own choices, (5) Next 1.5 years -Swadishtana chakra and Gonad gland- learns about social behavior with friends at home and school. (6) Next 1.5 years - Muladhara chakra and Adrenal gland- by now the native is above 9 years and acquires good physical strength - learns to move around - likes games, sports etc., By this time native child grow by 9 and odd years (7) Next 1.5 years - other side of Muladhara chakra and Adrenal gland -Physical energy is put into practical side - games, sports etc., (8) Next 1.5 years - Other side of Swadhishtana and Gonad gland-understands the gender differences. Experiences increasing trends of socialization and moving or mixing with others. Female native experiences commencement of menstrual p eriods. (9) Next 1.5 years - Other side of Manipura and Pancreas gland -individual p ersonality cult develops- teenage problems starts - want to control their own needs- wants authority, likes to take charge of his own destiny. (10) Next 1.5 years - other side of Anahata chakra and Thymus gland- feelings of linking others, love feelings etc., starts
4
(11) Next 1.5 years -other side of Visudha chakra and Thyroid gland - understands beyond the words, dialogues etc., gains a better image of the surrounding society or social relations. Next 1.5 years - on side of Ajna chakra and Pituitary gland - Native by now (12) th crossed 18 year - fully grown to understand reality and able to express his own ideas in their actions and reactions.
By the native reaches about 18 and years of age - further happenings on the transit Rahu in these areas depend on the age and socio-economic surroundings of the native. (B) Transit of all planets and nodes on the Brigu Bindu point in natal chart. i.e., middle point between Rahu to Moon.
Brigu bindu point is derived from Nadi astrology- It is a se nsitive point in natal chart. It is a n imaginary point at the middle of the distance travelled by Moon from Rahu in birth chart i.e., in the separating aspect (clock-wise direction) of Moon from Rahu point. When any transiting planet benefic or malefic - including the nodes - conjoin or aspect this point an event occurs. Conjunctions are more powerful than aspects. When more than one planet triggers this point the results are to be carefully assessed. ( C )Transiting Rahu and Ketu on their natal points.
In the life time - Transit rahu or Ketu conjoin (a) their natal points in birth chart once in around 18 and odd years. (b) Transiting Rahu or Ketu conjoin the natal position of each other once in around 9 and odd years. Thus once in around 9 and odd years i.e., in multiples of around 9 and odd years of age in the life time EVERY ONE gets this influence. At this transit time native is likely to experience ill-health or mental tensions. These triggering effects are to b e studied with a holistic approach of the entire natal chart. Caution: No planet acts in isolation at any given time. All planets works in a concerted manner. Any package deal from planets to any native may be with a leadership of one or few planets by virtue of transit or natal positions and or their dasa main/sub periods. Therefore it is highly essential to resort to a holistic approach while decoding any individual chart.

Astrology is the first, oldest and only science bequeathed by the creator Brahma, through the great Sages Narada, Augasthya, Parasara etc., as a boon to mankind for repared for any bad/good eventualists psychologically and be prepared to face/enjoy them. Originally astrology used for fixing auspicious time for performance of Vratas/Yagnas and subsequently for forecasting and timing of event. In ancient t -hearted Sanskrit Slokas. The first book written on Astrology is Bruhat Parasara Hora Sastra by great Maharshi Parasara in 3000 BC. Bruhat Jataka by Varaha Mihira of Vikramaditya period (500 AD) is next important work in Astrology. It is widely believed that Astrology is the boon given by us to the world. The first book in Astrology was written by Prof.B.Suryanarayana Rao grandfather of th century. Astrology word derived from Greek Astro-a star & Logos- reason/logic. It is also known in Sanskrit as Jyothisha/ Hora Sastra meaning the light i.e., direction in dark/Science of time respectively. Various definitions for Astrology are - i. It is the science of Symbology, ii. Astrology is the language of stars. Planetary vibrations act on human beings and influence the feelings, sensations and attitudes of the person -Lellywn George, iii. Dante declared Astrology as the highest, the noblest, and lastly, iv .Prof.S.Krishnamurthy-inventor of KP system says-
scientific from the time of ancients to the day, but its use cannot be demonstrated by testtube methods. Planetary force is all about us hidden from our sight and produces effects Astrology and studying it since 20 years and become strong supporter of astrology. Kepler, 102
JASA Vol. 3 (2) Oct-Dec 2013 Beacon, Pythagoras and Democrats have become Masters in astrology. Astrology has strong bondage with astronomy, a science dealing with the planets movements, velocity, and periodicity, hence it is a science. Further it has connections with Philosophy, logic and psychology sciences. Lelwyn George saysno mistake in your horoscopical calculations the results obtained will agree in a very astonishing help of Panchangas and Ephemeris and the latter one is used world-wide for Western Astrology also and presently soft-ware is available for casting instantly. The birth time is most important and utmost accuracy is required for effective predictions. Another important aspect effecting adversely predictions in astrology is Ayanamsa differences between modern astrologers which is effecting and if any concurrence arrived on this vexed subject the astrology gets boost, confidence and encouragement from the public. Further there is no patronage, encouragement and support from the government by aid of funds and including in academic curriculum at the university level. Presently some action is being taken on these lines. In Olden Days the royal patronage, honour and respect for astrology was accorded by the rulers and after our ancestor Indian Sages Chinese, Greeks, Chaldeans and Egyptians patronized and developed. Unless astrological knowledge was possessed one could not become emperor in olden Chinese kingdom. Whatever method is studied whilst learning astrology the basic characteristics of- Planets (Graha), Rasis and Bhava Tatwas i.e., characteristics, are the same and more control on these knowledge the more effective will be the analysis/predictions of the astrology. There are various systems of AstrologyParasara (Traditional), Gemini, Tajaka, Nadi (Brughu and Dhruva/Satya), Krishna Murthy Paddhathi (KP System) and Western. Casting of Horoscope: This is done with the help of Panchanga in olden days and in modern times by using being cast and for KP Chart Raphael Tables of Ascendants, Astrological Tables for all(Ready wares are available for instant casting of horoscopes thus leading to ignorance of knowledge in casting. But its applicability and use is not deniable. The coincidence of Ayanamsa i.e., Precision of equinoxes when Sayana & Nirayana system had the same in the past which is varying to Astrologer to Astrologer, for KP and N.C.Lahiri they are 291 & 285 AD respectively. The value of Ayanamsa variation per year is that of Newcomb i.e., 50.2399475 was considered by Prof. KSK for his KP Chart casting. In KP Chart Rasi and Bhava are not synonymous as in Parasara. Here Bhava is known as Cusp and it may start anywhere in a rasi and extend to another rasi. At times there will be two or three cusps in a rasi as latitude is nearing 60 o in that case there will be no cusp in a rasi. The cusp o range will not be 30 and it may be approximate or more and no fixed one. Cusp/Bhava in KP means it is the border between two succeeding bhavas, one ending and the next bhava commencing. The system followed in House division is Porphyrys/Sripathy system. Prof.K.S.Krishna Murthy (KSK) whose full name is Kuthur Subbarayaiyer Krishnamurthi, the inventor/discoverer of this astrological system. It is unique, scientific, part of Vedic astrology and mathematical study and evolution without short cuts; after great and 103
JASA Vol. 3 (2) Oct-Dec 2013 considerable period of struggle in m predictions given will be the same for any astrologer with the same h oroscope as well timing of the event which is simple, accurate and scientific. i) History: KSK birth particulars are DOB: Sunday1-11-1908, TOB: o

Thiruvariyaru (10 of expiry were at 2 am on 30-3-1972. After education from St.Joseph College, Tiruchirapalli entered into service at the King Institute, Guindy, Chennai in Public Health Dept., Tamilnadu on 14-7-1927. He had fascination, dedication eagerness and sincerity for the study of Astrology and failure of predictions as well as timing of events and caused dissatisfaction on the results of Astrology, during 1934-46. From 1939 with two assistants carried out research and developed the concept of Sub-lord Theory basing on Satya Nadi finally in 1951. He received Uchchistha Maha Ganapathi through Jagadguru and consequently KSK attained his goal. He got great inspiration and urge to teach and propagate KP system to eager students, who need not become professional astrologers for earning sake; till 1961. He retired from service voluntarily on19-91961. From 20-3-1963 Astrology & Athristha, KP Ephemeris for the years 1911-1970 and 6 KP Readers were published and Prof. KSK was awarded 2 titles- a) Jyothish Marthand and b) Sothida Mannan for his astrological yeoman services. ii) System: KP system invented by KSK is only Parasara modified to the present modern period applying certain aspects of Western Astrology, like- cus ps, Fortuna and Western aspects; thereby one could be able to give predictions and timing of event accurately. Apart from taking the Western concepts, as stated above, KSK discovered Sub-lord, Ruling planets, Significators Table, special role to the nodes and Horary No. 1-249 chart for answering the question astrology. There are no sub-divisional charts, including Navamsa and only birth chart is available for analysis purpose and Dasa considered only Vimsothari/Udu of 120 years duration for timing of the event. He took the concept of Dhruva Nadi which was the basis for Meenas-1 & 2 (who developed Stellar Astrology) for evolution of Sub-lord. o
a. Dhruva Naadi (Meenas) concept: A zodiac is divided into 12 rasis of 360 and therefore o os each rasi is 30 , consisting of 9 parts/Padas each part being 3 20 constituting 21/4 stars in each rasi. Thus a rasi was divided into 2 stars and one pada, as each star has 4 padas. Each star has lord and lord of each star is known as Star Lord. This Predictive Stellar Astrology was developed in 1936, by Late R.Gopala Krishna Rao and NV Raghavachary known as Meena-1&2 respectively. Sri NVR Raja (Meena-2 Jr.), Chairman, JKR Astro Research Foundation, Hyderabad is propagating presently this system. KSK extended this concept to all the 27 stars in o o the zodiac and each star of 13 20 divided into 9 parts/division of 3 in a star is known as SUB LORD. These 9 parts i.e. Sub lords will be in the order and proportion of Vimsothari Dasa and first part starting with the same lord. Thus in a KP chart we have Cusp/Bhava Lord (i.e., Sign lord where a cusp/Planet), Star lord and Sub lord. Similarly, we Sub-sub lords. b. Ruling Planets (RP): Those planets, which are ruling at the time of query and contribute for the fructification of the event, are called Ruling Planets. This is the important extract for horoscopes judgement and they are nine in the descending order (from the powerful to 104
JASA Vol. 3 (2) Oct-Dec 2013 the least) - Lagna Sub-lord, Lagna Star lord, Lagna Sign lord; Moon sub-lord; Moon star lord and Moon sign lord and lastly Day Lord. KSK has taken only seven RPs, excluding Lagna & Moon Sub-lords. Note: 1. If any of the planets which strongly aspects or conjoins the nine ruling planets it can also be included in the RPs. 2. If any of the RPs is retrograde or posited either in the star or sub of a retrograde planet, reject that planet during the period of retrogression and accept the remaining. RPs Rules are- i. The ruling planets at the time of sitting for judgement are the same to that of the horary time, ii. The RPs at the time of the fructification of the event are the same to that of the birth time/horary time. The presence of RPs is to be same but not the order. Application of RPs: The RPs have a definite role in i. fructification of event by finding the common planets between the fruitful significators of an event and RPs during their conjoined period. ii. To verify the correctness of chart by verifying the RPs of a chart with that of arrival time of the consultant. iii. Rectification of birth time. Of all the methods of recti fication of birth time the most important one is -Sign, Star and Sub lords will be the sub lords of the concerned cusps at the time of occurrence. c. Significators Table: A planet will become significator to a house occupied by its star lord and houses owned by the star lord. The tenant planet is known as significator and indicates such matters depending on the su-portion of the star occupied by the tenant. Significator gives the result of its star lord and so it becomes the indicator of the matters of the house occupied, owned and aspected by it and sub lord decides regarding that matters of the star lord. A planet is said to be a significator of a particular house when it has capability of offering result of that house due to its stellar and positional status which will be low, medium and high category. Significators are the sources for events and used for timing of event. A planet which is placed closer to cusp/Bhava, even if it was behind the cusp and becomes Bhava lord or planet in the constellation of Bhava lord, it will be the significator of the above cusp which is in front of it. Note: The cuspal S/L of a Bhava itself qualifies as significator of that bhava in the absence of planets in its stars, even if S/L negates the bhava. The following are the significators of a Bhava in the order of the strengthi. Planet in the constellation of the occupant of the Bhava (Strongest). ii. The occupant of the Bhava. iii. The planet in the constellation of the Bhava Lord. iv. The Bhava Lord. v. The planets conjoined with the above significators and aspecting the cusp and the planets therein.
105
JASA Vol. 3 (2) Oct-Dec 2013 Note: 1. The nodes are to be included as significators if they are conjoined /aspected /tenanted in the house of significators. 2. Where there are 2 or more planets in i to iii above, all the planets share in the fructification of the event according to their s trength. Selection of fruitful significators: The prediction will be accurate basing on the selection of fruitful and rejecting temptor (false) significators. Selection will be made amongst them either on selective basis in the order of strength or by eliminating the tempters/weak significators-i. If a planet is connected with the concerned Bhavas and becomes significator of the relevant houses and if also posited in the subs of any of the significators of the concerned houses, then the planet gives more dependable results. ii. If any planet is posited in his own sub it is stronger planet, iii. If S/L is in beneficial aspect with constellation lord. iv. If S/L of any event is c/w further 2 cusps of the same ev ent success without failure. v. A significator is weak if it signifies Trik 6/8/12 cusps, their constellation or sub lords as well as Trik houses of the bhava under consideration. It becomes weak if star and sub lords become weak and more so if S/L is also weak. d. Role of Nodes: Rahu and Ketu, the nodes were allotted special roles in KP system prediction. They are considered as direct and move in opposite direction. Rahu and Ketu represent the planets in the order of priority- the planets that conjoin, aspect, its star and sign lords. In other words, the nodes represent the planets in this order if those planets are not the significators concerned. Similarly, if nodes do not come under the significators, these planets represent Rahu or Ketu accordingly. e. Aspects and conjunctions: An aspect is the angular distance of celestial longitude between two points in the zodiac, between two planets or one planet and a rasi. Two or more planets in the same rasi are known as conjunction. Aspect and conjunction are more powerful within the orb of 8 o and will be from sign to sign. Western aspects were preferred for effective results compared to Parasara aspects by KSK. iii. Judgement: a. Punarphoo If in a chart there is a connection between Saturn and Moon for a relevant Bhava then that particular Bhava result will be abnormally delayed with obstructions and frustrations. Saturn will have more adverse effect bei ng the slow moving planet. b. Improving houses 1, 2, 3,6,10 & 11 houses are improving houses to the native and the remaining th houses are improving houses for 7 Bhava/opposite party. The more connections to a particular Bhava with improving houses the more powerful and favourable result for the concerned Bhava. c. Rules Bhava/Cusp lord i.e. the sign in which the cusp is placed that sign lord is the source/agent of that Bhava, Cuspal star lord gives the nature of result and Cuspal sub lord gives the result of the house more predominantly and essential for minute prediction.
In Stellar Astrology a planet deposited in a particular star gives the results of the lord of the star and acts as an agent of the star lord. A planet transiting in a sign is the source of the event, the lord of the star in which the planet is transiting signifies the nature of the event according to its nature, occupation and 106
JASA Vol. 3 (2) Oct-Dec 2013 lordship, while at the same time the sub lord decides whether the event is favourable or not according to its lordship. Significators of an event if connected with positive and negative houses, positive and negative results will prevail. Note: i. A planet gives the results singly according to its nature. If it conjoins with another planet or aspected by another planet gives combined results according to their nature. Also when a planet is posited in a star the planet gives the nature of the star lord accordingly. ii. Whenever, Sub Lord is referred, if it .is not directly connected with the concerned cusp, then the lord of the star in which the sub lord is posited if connected with the relevant cusp then also the result can be taken.

Education: Rule 4,9 & 11 cusps. Note: For longevity determination umpteen combinations are there in traditional system whereas in KP it is simple. 7. Further research after Prof KSK: Prof KSK could not do research on Sub-sub level, even though he desired because of cruel fate of death and subsequently carried by his followers. Similarly, Horary Nos.1 249 (sub level) gone to sub-sub level of Nos.1 - 2193. In predictive part of KP system three different systems were evolved and they are-i.

Paper presented at All India Conference conducted by Jyothi Jyothisha Samvadam, Trichur, Kerala in January 2012 at Trichur.
Astrology and Modern Science Author: S. Babu Rao, B.Sc., P.G.Dip.Pub.Acctg., MA (Astrology). Principal & Secretary Universal College of Astrology. Secretary 1) Universal Research Institute of Astro & Occult Sciences 2) Universal Astrological Book Trust, Hyderabad500020 Tele: 040 – 27222302.
1. By Divine grace I have great opportunity in presenting the paper on "Astrology and Modern Science" in this Seminar before the august body of astrological savants attending the National Seminar from various parts of India. 2. Science: a) The word science comes from the Latin “Scientia” meaning knowledge. a. Science is a system of acquiring knowledge through observation and experiment to describe and explain natural phenomena and organised systematically having gained using the system and purpose is to produce useful models of reality. b. Science is “knowledge attained through study/practice or knowledge covering general truths of the operation of laws especially as obtained and tested through scientific method concerned with the physical world.” Most scientific investigations use some form of scientific method and Astrology is considered as mother of all sciences as it was evolved through long period of nature observation since man’s primitive Stone Age. Science is of two types - i. Natural-Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Geology and ii. Social sciences – History, Geography, Politics, Economics etc., Each type of this is again subdivided into Applied Science relating research to human needs. c) The facts, formulae are established through observations; reasoning relied on both inductive and deductive methods, and through experiments in fully equipped laboratories and these will form the basic facts known as theory and will be consolidated. Basing on these theories as time passes with experience, certain new scientific assumptions will be deducted and through experiments conducted in the laboratories under ideal conditions these formula will be established and approved and will be incorporated in the relevant science as theory for further research and development. At times some experiments as well as some natural scientific facts will be reenacted in their enthusiasm for science development. For example, in their enthusiasm for science sake and further development they recreated known surroundings and conducted experiment with great effort and necessary
arrangements with highly sophisticated latest technology. For example the “Big Bang” theory. It is well known fact that the Universe was created through Big Bang explosion of huge, dark and high density whirling mass in semi-fluid state and known as Dark Energy which works against earth’s gravitation force. It was proved in 1990 that the universe was ever expanding This Dark energy is similar to tension and in space spreading throughout universe thereby decomposing all the material existing in universe and this will take place for more than 100 billion years. To find the basic source of Dark Energy the scientific world created artificial environment required to conduct Big Bang experiment at ’Lord Harden Collider’ in Switzerland 9 and studying the results. The age of the Universe is13.75 Billion (equal to 1 x 10 Giga) years which is equal to 137 crores years in Indian measure and this was mentioned earlier by our great Rishis as Pralayam. d) The first development of science and civilization got impetus and acceleration th due to invention of printing press in 15 Century renaissance period when it had become the easiest way of recording all the events in black and white on the paper. This led to preserving the knowledge for future generations avoiding duplication of work and accelerating knowledge by research for best utilisation to human race and ushering into the age of written word. The second important and effective th development is discovery of Computer in the second half of 20 century. These developments led to development and boosting Astrology and brought out of ushered in the age of bitten word. All the information which was in obscure and isolated for hundred of years were made available to one and all and the knowledge is spread thereby new discoveries were made through seminars and research. Simultaneously, the available knowledge was consolidated duly revitalizing thereby raising interest in the subject Important thing in this computer age is relieving those men who are scared of mathematics but interested in the predictive part of Astrology. 3. Astrology: a. It is undeniable fact and true that astrology is a boon given to the man kind by the creator Brahma through one of the great Rushis - Augasthya and others. It is the only science which tells future events relating to human life thereby giving caution and opportunity to face accept and grasp the opportunity for one’s happy contented life. All these were predicted by our ancient Rishis through their Divine power known as Divya Dristhi acquired by them through their rigorous discipline, regular planned and pensived life through mystic process of Yoga, as far back as 5000 years BC and which were confirmed in the present civilised, th developed scientific era of 20 century through the latest invented scientific Instruments. The Big Bang theory discovered by the modern scientists which was basis for creation of this universe was long back narrated by our ancient Sages as Jalapralaya leaving Vishnu and Brahma, the creator and the latter started creating the universe on the command of Narayana. This indicates the greatness of our ancient sages and our culture greatness compared with the modern discoveries which were all stated first by sages and confirmed subsequently by the scientific world. According to Prof.K.S.Krishnamurthy, “astrology offers help and hope in a manner unobtainable by any other method. It is scientific from the ancients’ time to the day, but it cannot be demonstrated by test tube methods. Planetary force is all
about us hidden from our sight and produces effects which are decisive and sensitive”. Thus it is clear and evident the difference between the Astrology and the science. b. Astrology is based on sound and time tested doctrine/reasoning which includes various gross and subtle factors and solid mass evidence regarding applicability and relevance of astrology in practical life. This involves intense study and intricate calculations basing on stars, planets, signs and Bhavas interrelationships and various phenomena on earth including human’s life. The astrological reasoning takes into consideration various gross and subtle factors which might be unscientific based on solid mass evidence regarding its applicability and relevance in practical life. An expert, experienced and well versed Astrologer who is rational, open minded, outspoken and irreligious can pinpoint the nature and time of event for all the problems, even the critical ones like health, accidents etc., Numerous people benefited by their guidance duly getting hope and solace. Serious investigators and experienced astrologers will not accept that astrology is outcome of superstitions based on human anxiety and life uncertainty. Because of its evidence astrology held in reverence in spite of failure in rational explanation. “Ayurveda” the Indian ancestral medical science is another example of similar nature and applicability in every day to day life. Apart from the above facts, astrology can be considered as a science due to – i. In casting of the horoscope which is the important tool for predictions, the help of mathematics, a science is essential. ii. Astrology deals with the planets its movements, longitudes, Latitudes, Declinations etc., which are related to Astronomy, a science. iii. Astrology requires the help of Psychology, a social science for giving predictions to the natives tactfully especially regarding health and unexpected and unpleasant matters. iv. Sociology and History social sciences are related to Astrology as predictions are to be given taking into consideration of social situation of the society and with the back ground of history taking as experience, astrology can be developed. c. The first astrological book written by the great Rishi Parasara in Sanskrit, the mother of all the languages titled -"Bruhat Parasara Hora Shastra” in 5000 B.C. and second astrology book is also in Sanskrit of Varaha Mihira's - "Bruhat Jataka" in 500 AD of Vikramaditya's time. In India we have huge mass of studies and treatises on astrology. Many of them are outcome of the inquiries of earnest and intelligent explorers and strong evidence of planetary influences and their relevance to life. It is believed that astrology is gifted to the world by India and spread to the world and consequent developments of various systems of Astrology like Western, Tajaka etc. It is well known fact the basics of astrology i.e. Graha, Rasi and Bhava Tatwas are the same whatever system may be followed. The first Indian Edition of Astrology was written by Bangalore Suryanarain Rao in diglot form in 1892 (English & Kanada) and subsequently republished as "Compendium of Astrology" omitting Kanada portion.
4. a) The gap and clash between astrology and modern Science is unbridgeable because they differ in several aspects in both the approach and reasoning. The former's investigation is holistic approach to the life and universe whereas the latter’s is analytical one. In this context it can be aptly remembered the quotation of mathematician and philosopher Alfred North Whitefield - "A clash of doctrines is not a disaster-it is an opportunity" thought provoking and apt in the clash between science and religion i.e. astrology. The best example for this statement is in the science of Physics on the nature of light where two contradictory theories by Newton's Corpuscular and Huygens’s wave theories. Pointing out that while one group of phenomena can be explained by only on the Huygens’s and another large group can be explained only on the former's i.e. corpuscular theory. b) We should not blindly accept anything in any sphere of thought without verifying on solid reasons based on research of the competent persons. If a clash occurs between two groups on the details of any point with overlapping should not lead to reject hastily of any doctrine established with solid evidence. We should wait with a history of thought and perspective sense till the doctrines is accepted and established and not with passively and in despair. But if we have any clash it is an indication of having wider truths and finer perspective within which a reconciliation of a deeper religion and more subtle science is found.
5. a) In Modern times every one including Scientists argue in haste, that Astrology having time tested doctrines, is unreliable and unscientific in spite of their contrary encounterance in their life and making mockery of it. Majority of the people pertaining to various categories of higher social status, influential externally they dispose; internally believing and seeking astrological advises, especially in critical and difficult situations. These people don’t accept for critical research and come to hasty conclusion without the knowledge of basics. In this context it is apt to state the opinion of the greatest physicist Sir Isaac Newton’s statement that he wanted to criticize Astrology and learning the same since 20 years and became strong supporter of Astrology. Here the Scientist put forward three important points – i. The most important one being that before commenting on any subject one should have basic acquaintance of the subject. ii. Astrology is a vast subject which could not be mastered in a short period. iii. It tells the importance and greatness of Astrology on which Newton had. b) Now a days throughout the universe all the subjects, both Natural and Social Sciences, are encouraged by the Government by providing funds for further studies and research in various universities. In spite of advanced and intensive training they are failures in every sphere - space research, medical fields etc., whereas in Astrology there is no such facility and encouragement for research. All astrological predictions will not be cent per cent correct and some will go wrong. This is applicable to all subjects without any exception. It is not out of context to mention, that the hospital authorities will take declaration from the patient’s close relative absolving the doctors, treating the patient from the risk involved in the treatment
even though the doctor is experienced, highly qualified and hospital is equipped with latest, highly sophisticated technical instruments. Further Astrology is neglected and underwent incognito and retardation due to social and political circumstances like foreign invasions/rule in spite of this it has survived because of people’s patronage and interest shown by ardent believers, students and followers. Since last two decades interest is growing to study astrology and introduced in various Indian Universities as well as in foreign countries. As a matter fact Astrology is encouraged and followed more seriously in countries like America, England etc., In these countries Astrologers can be sued in Consumers’ Council if the predictions fails and so they have more responsibilities and seriousness. c) The ancient explorers had strong belief that knowledge can be acquired only through the scientific methods only. It is unfortunate that our Indian Scholars and Scientists do not believe our ancient and traditional knowledge until some foreign countries viz., Germany, England etc., have found their importance, relevance and greatness through their heresy, studies and research. They took strenuous efforts to establish the proved fact by all means published and brought to the attention of the scholarly world. Then only our Indian scholars began to believe our ancients knowledge and their utilization to the human world especially Vedas, Upanishads, Astrology and Ayurveda (Oldest Indian Medical Science). All these knowledge are in Sanskrit language which only a few people know now changes are occurring and our people to study them using the modern scientific methods. In one way we, Indians should be grateful to those foreign scholars for enlightening us our greatness and creating interest for further study. d) Salient features of our Sages contribution to the scientific knowledge are – i. The discovery of subtle and profound psycho-biophyscical connections between human organism and cosmic subterranean process. Their knowledge was more and beyond incomprehensible to the modern European scientific world and these were ignored by concealing their incapacity under argument that oriental wisdom is mere mysticism and showing their inability to distinguish the rational but not yet fully understandable essence from various figments of imagination. Really it is a wonder, our ancient Sages got such knowledge without experiments, ifs and buts that regulate the course of vital processes and the character of the interaction between man and nature, particularly the celestial bodies influence and the various radiation process from space to earth. All this, both in diagnosis and treatment, was considered and shows high level of culture which arouses awe, admiration, .gratitude and thirst for research leading to human race further development. The ancient phenomena discovered by our Sages were found by the modern scientists and made them awe with respect and gratitude, for example – i. Pusphak Vimanam is modern Jumbo jets. ii. Pasupathastram used in Mahabharata war is Atom bomb. iii. The birth of a. Dronacharya, Guru of Pandavas, and b .Birth of Dritharasthra’s 101 children, through the process of keeping the embryos in the separated containers, specially made of mud-pots. This is nothing but modern medical method of “In Vitro Fertilisation” (IVF) i.e. test-tube baby process.
The scientists done research on our ancient literature and fund, due to enthusiasm, eagerness and sincere devotion and got inspired by great amount of knowledge; with the ultimate goal of new discoveries leading to human welfare development in all fields and aspects. ”A giant leap backwards” is not to be disposed and contempted but encouraged if it leads to sense of gratitude, admiration, selfcontentment and thirst of learning ultimately gaining new knowledge for further advancement in total human progress. e) While scientists agree for radiation and electro-magnetic waves in their research they disagree to apply it for Indian Literature esp. astrology which is the Dominating factor to the modern science. Astrology ‘s approach is not entirely material which is the modern dominating factor in the present world but both material and mental and they are interlinked and modifying influences are present in the entire Universe. Astrology regards universe as interlinked consciousness and physical phenomenon established in the source by Brahman – the almighty God and supreme reality, having infinite potential. Thus Astrology stresses the importance of Karma and our ancient Sages found evidence to this Karma.
6) Conclusion: The latest scientific thinking is also coming to more balanced view that the universe is both mental and material and requires a depth study of humans’ nature and mind In the evolution of new science the critical research to be carriedout in present times on ancient knowledge which emphasis on consciousness will contribute a great deal for better understanding of human beings and thereby the Universe. . All these regulates human world to exist with love and affection, cooperation, development through constant regular, planned, disciplined moral life. All these will be finally leading to the cherished national leaders’ desire of “Vasudhika Prapancham” i.e. leading finally the universe emerging as a single family living with peace, cooperation, happy and comfortable life.

Astrology - K.P.System (K.P.System - Originated from Vedic & Nadi Astrology)
*** 1.The first book written on Astrology is Bruhat Parasara Hora Sastra by great Maharshi Parasara in 3000 BC. Bruhat Jataka by Varaha Mihira of Vikramaditya period (500 AD) is next important work in Astrology. It is widely believed that Astrology is the boon given by us to the world. The first book in Astrology was written by Prof.B.Suryanarayana Rao grandfather of Dr.B.V.Raman, in English titled “Compendium of Astrology” in 19th century. 2. “Astrology” word derived from Greek Astro-a star & Logos- reason/logic. Dante declared Astrology as the highest, the noblest, and lastly, iv.Prof.S.Krishnamurthy-inventor of KP system system “Astrology offers us help and hope in a manner unobtainable by any other method. It is scientific from the time of ancients to the day, but its use cannot be demonstrated by test tube methods. Planetary force is all about us hidden from our sight and produces effects which are decisive. ”
The great scientist Sir Isaac Newton said that he wanted to criticize Astrology and studying it since 20 years and become strong supporter of astrology. Kepler, Beacon, Pythagoras and Democrats have become Masters in astrology. Astrology has strong bondage with astronomy, a science dealing with the planets movements, velocity, and periodicity, hence it is a science. Further it has connections with Philosophy, logic and psychology sciences. 3. Lelwyn George says- “Mathematically, astrology is a science, and therefore if you have made no mistake in your horoscopical calculations the results obtained will agree in a very astonishing manner with the facts as you know them.” The casting of horoscopes, in India are done with the help of Panchangas and Ephemeris and the latter one is used world-wide for Western Astrology also and presently s oft-ware is available for casting instantly. The birth time is most important and utmost accuracy is required for effective predictions. Another important aspect effecting adversely predictions in astrology is Ayanamsa differences between modern astrologers which is effecting and if any concurrence arrived on this vexed subject the astrology gets boost, confidence and
2
encouragement from the public. Further there is no patronage, encouragement and support from the government by aid of funds and including in academic curriculum at the university level. Presently some action is being taken on these lines. In Olden Days the royal patronage, honor and respect for astrology was accorded by the rulers and after our ancestor Indian Sages Chinese, Greeks, Chaldeans and Egyptians patronized and developed. Unless astrological knowledge was possessed one could not become emperor in olden Chinese kingdom. 4. Whatever method is studied whilst learning astrology the basic characteristics of- Planets (Graha), Rasis and Bhava Tatwas i.e., characteristics, are the same and more control on these knowledge the more effective will be the analysis/predictions of the astrology. There are various systems of Astrology- Parasara (Traditional), Gemini, Tajaka, Nadi (Brughu and Dhruva/Satya), Krishna Murthy Paddhathi (KP System) and Western. 5. Casting of Horoscope: This is done with the help of Panchanga in olden days and in modern times by using Lahiri’s Table of Ascendants and Lahiri Ephemeris Parasara charts are being cast and for KP Chart Raphael Tables of Ascendants, Astrological Tables for all (Ready Reckoner) and KP Ephemeris of the required year are used. However, now a day’s various softwares are available for instant casting of horoscopes thus leading to ignorance of knowledge in casting. The value of Ayanamsa variation per year is that of Newcomb i.e., 50.2399475’ was considered by Prof. KSK for his KP Chart casting.
In KP Chart Rasi and Bhava are not synonymous as in Parasara. Here Bhava is known as Cusp and it may start anywhere in a rasi and extend to another rasi. At times there will be two or three cusps in a rasi as latitude is nearing 60o in that case there will be no cusp in a rasi. The cusp range will not be 30o and it may be approximate or more and no fixed one. Cusp/Bhava in KP means it is the border between two succeeding bhavas, one ending and the next bhava commencing. The system followed in House division is Porphyrys/Sripathy system History and Basics of K.P.System 6. Introduction: Prof.K.S.Krishna Murthy (KSK) is the inventor/discoverer of this astrological system a scientific and mathematical study and evolution after great and considerable period of struggle in modern era and he is known as “ Aadhunik Varamihira.” The predictions given will be the same for any astrologer with the same horoscope as well timing of the event which is simple, accurate and scientific.
i) History: KSK birth particulars are DOB: Sunday1-11-1908, TOB: 12.11pm and POB: Thiruvariyaru (10o N15’, 79o-15’) Sravana Nakshathra (Kanya rasi) and Makara Lagna and Date of expiry were at 2 am on 30-3-1972. After education from St.Joseph College, Tiruchirapalli entered into service at the King Institute, Guindy, Chennai in Public Health Dept., Tamilnadu on 14-7-1927. He had fascination, dedication eagerness and sincerity for the study of Astrology and studied both Parasara and Western systems from Jul’27 from 1934. He critically analysed for failure of predictions as well as timing of events and caused dissatisfaction on the results of Astrology, during 1934-46. From 1939 with two assistants carried out research and developed the concept of Sub-lord Theory basing on Satya Nadi finally in 1951. He received Uchchistha Maha Ganapathi through Jagadguru and consequently KSK attained his goal. He got great inspiration and urge to teach and propagate
3
KP system to eager students, who need not become professional astrologers for earning sake; till 1961. He retired from service voluntarily on19-9- 1961. From 20-3-1963 Astrology & Athristha, KP Ephemeris for the years 1911-1970 and 6 KP Readers were published and Prof. KSK was awarded 2 titles- a) Jyothish Marthand and b) Sothida Mannan for his astrological yeoman services. ii) System: KP system invented by KSK is only Parasara modified to the present modern period applying certain aspects of Western Astrology, like– cusps, Fortuna and Western aspects; thereby one could be able to give predictions and timing of event accurately.
He took the concept of Dhruva Nadi which was the basis for Meenas-1 & 2 (who developed Stellar Astrology) for evolution of Sub-lord. a. Dhruva Naadi (Meenas) concept: A zodiac is divided into 12 rasis of 360o and therefore each rasi is 30o, consisting of 9 parts/Padas each part being 3os20’ constituting 21/4 stars in each rasi. Dr. NVR Raja (Meena-2 Jr. an ardent student of Universal College of Astrology-Hyderabad), Chairman, JKR Astro Research Foundation, Hyderabad is propagating presently this system. KSK extended this concept to all the 27 stars in the zodiac and each star of 13o20’ divided into 9 parts/division of 3 o 20‘and the lord of division in a star is known as SUB LORD. Similarly, we have Planet’s Sign, Star and Sub lords. Dasa, Bhukthi and Antara lords become Star, Sub and Sub-sub lords. b. Ruling Planets (RP): Those planets, which are ruling at the time of query and contribute for the fructification of the event, are called Ruling Planets. This is the important extract for horoscopes judgment and they are nine in the descending order (from the powerful to the least) – Lagna Sub-lord, Lagna Star lord, Lagna Sign lord; Moon sub-lord; Moon star lord and Moon sign lord and lastly Day Lord.
Important RPs Rules are- i. The ruling planets at the time of sitting for judgment are the same to that
of the horary time, ii. The RPs at the time of the fructification of the event is the same to that of the birth time/horary time. The presence of RPs is to be same but not the order.
4
Application of RPs : The RPs have a definite role in i. fructification of event by finding the common planets between the fruitful significators of an event and RPs during their conjoined period. ii. To
verify the correctness of chart by verifying the RPs of a chart with that of arrival time of the consultant. iii. Rectification of birth time. c. Significators Table: A planet is said to be a significator of a particular house when it has capability of offering result of that house due to its stellar and positional status which will be low, medium and high category. The following are the significators of a Bhava in the order of the strength. i. Planet in the constellation of the occupant of the Bhava (Strongest).(PCO) ii. The occupant of the Bhava.(OCC) iii. The planet in the constellation of the Bhava Lord.(PCBL) iv. The Bhava Lord. (BL) v. The planets conjoined with the above significators and aspecting the cusp and the planets therein. (Aspects) Note: 1. The nodes are to be included as significators if they are conjoined /aspected /tenanted in the house of significators. 2. Where there are 2 or more planets in i to iii above, all the planets share in the fructification of the event according to their strength.
Selection of fruitful significators: The prediction will be accurate basing on the selection of fruitful and rejecting temptor (false) significators. Selection will be made amongst them either on selective basis in the order of strength or by eliminating the tempters/weak significators-i. If a planet is connected with the concerned Bhavas and becomes significator of the relevant houses and if also posited in the subs of any of the significators of the concerned houses, then the planet gives more dependable results. ii. If any planet is posited in his own sub it is stronger planet. & iii. If S/L is in beneficial aspect with constellation lord. d. Role of Nodes: Rahu and Ketu, the nodes were allotted special roles in KP` system prediction. They are considered as direct and move in opposite direction. Rahu and Ketu represent the planets in the order of priority- the planets that conjoin, aspect, its star and sign lords. In other words, the nodes represent the planets in this order if those planets are not the significators concerned. Similarly, if nodes do not come under the significators, these planets represent Rahu or Ketus accordingly. e. Aspects and conjunctions: An aspect is the angular distance of celestial longitude between two points in the zodiac, between two planets or one planet and a rasi. Two or more planets in the same rasi are known as conjunction. Aspect and conjunction are more powerful within the orb of 8 o. Western aspects were preferred for effective results compared to Parasara aspects by KSK. iii. Judgement: a. Punarphoo —If in a chart there is a connection between Saturn and Moon for a relevant Bhava then that particular Bhava result will be abnormally delayed with obstructions and frustrations. Saturn will have more adverse effect being the slow moving planet. b. Improving houses —1,2,3,6,10 & 11 houses are improving houses to the native and the remaining
houses are improving houses for 7th Bhava/opposite party. The more connections to a particular Bhava with improving houses the more powerful and favourable result for the concerned Bhava.
5
c. Rules —Bhava/Cusp lord i.e. the sign in which the cusp is placed that sign lord is the source/agent
of that Bhava, Cuspal star lord gives the nature of result and Cuspal sub lord gives the result of the house more predominantly and essential for minute prediction. In Stellar Astrology a planet deposited in a particular star gives the results of the lord of the star and acts as an agent of the star lord. A planet transiting in a sign is the source of the event, the lord of the star in which the planet is transiting signifies the nature of the event according to its nature, occupation and lordship, while at the same time the sub lord decides whether the event is favourable or not according to its lordship. Significators of an event if connected with positive and negative houses, positive and negative results will prevail. Note: i. A planet gives the results singly according to its nature. If it conjoins with another planet or
aspected by another planet gives combined results according to their nature. Also when a planet is posited in a star the planet gives the nature of the star lord accordingly. ii. Whenever, Sub Lord is referred, if it .is not directly connected with the concerned cusp, then the lord of the star in which the sub lord is posited if connected with the relevant cusp then also the result can be taken. iii. If the sub or star lord is not connected with the relevant cusps, then the nodes” representations are to be taken. 7. Example horoscope for analysis: Male- DOB: 14-6-1940, TOB: 22.20hrs. Jup is in Star/Sub of Ven/Ven c/w 4, 5, 9 & 8. Jup conjoined with Mars and Mer who are c/w 2,6,11 & 12 and5, 11 & 12. The native will have minor ailments and cure, having Long life. ii. Education: Rule 4,9 & 11 cusps. In the chart 4 CS/L Mer c/w 6,8,11 &12.So basic education successful after initial difficulties. 9 CS/L Ra c/w 6,8 &11 and Jup Edn.Karaka c/w 4,9,11 & 12 so, higher education completes successfully after failures and sudden obstacles. Note: For longevity determination umpteen combinations are there in traditional system whereas in KP it is simple.
CESAREAN DELIVERIES- Fixing of time - How far valuable? * by Prof. C.Sambasiva Rao , Chairman, Universal College of Astrology.Hyderabad.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------* Published in Annual Souvenir -2005 - Jyotirvastu Vignana Samstha, Hyderabad --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Recent trends, with deep belief in vedic astrology and anxiety to beget best children making parents over-anxious to fix time for cesarean deliveries. Their anxiety is to arrange a powerful and sanctified birth chart for children to be born. In the process parents are likely to be driven to a wrong path. At the stage of delivery choosing a time is almost amount to unveiling the destined birth time. By the time parents try to choose the time of delivery — t he pregnancy period is almost over a nd lot of planetary forces (as per karmic theory) have acted to deliver the baby at a destined time. In Astrological terms this is only an exercise to reveal the destined birth time — which is perhaps can best be fixed by the attending doctors. Medical experts themselves help to fix a span of time for delivery — the time fixed by astrologers is likely to be within that span. Since cesarean deliveries have become common now for different reasons — such fixation of time is fitting in the play. What is suggested is to take advantage of the Vedic science to choose the time of conception, which will lead to a destined delivery time with powerful and sanctified planetary configuration. The delivery time is destined time whether it is normal delivery or cesarean delivery. Strong belief in Vedic sciences does reveal that time fixed for cesarean delivery can nothing but the destined time of delivery. Any attempt to deviate the destined time may lead to mishaps — and perhaps destined mishaps may tempt the involved to lead to wrong attempts. Art of Conceiving: One has to understand the art of conception in this context. Sexual union, pregnancy and reproduction of human species are the essentials on which the world exits. The time of conception (Garbhadhaana) is very important and s hould be carefully planned. Value of time: The value of time is inestimable. All objects in nature are produced in “Time’, developed in “Time” and destroyed in “Time”. Creative, protective and destructive forces are embedded in the womb of time. There is a time to sow and a time to reap. During the sowing season, creative forces are in operation. When an important activity is to be undertaken, destructive forces have to be screened off. Thus, the time of conception (Garbhadhaana) is very important. The birth of Ved Vyaas is believed to have been the culmination of a union at a time when planetary positions were conductive to produce a philosopher.
Whatever is born or done at a moment of time has the qualities of that moment of time. Sexual union should never be based upon simple “sense gratification”. There is sacredness about sexual functions, and when moral and spiritual considerations are not respected and brought into play, the result will be most unsatisfactory and all sorts of undesirable progeny would be the products of promiscuous cohabitation. Maharishies have given us clues as to how best we can make use of the grand constructive vibrations operating in nature if our endeavors are to be endowed with success. Expert astrological savants can guide for fixation of time for conception. For those who are not much adept in astrology, the simple formulae for the birth of a dutiful, intelligent and virtuous child, a couple should try for conception (Garbhadhaana) keeping in mind that: 1
i.
ii. iii. iv.
The constellations (Nakshatras) Shravana, Rohini, Anuradha, Swati, Revati, Moola, Uttarashada, Uttarabhadrapad, Shatabhisha are highly favourable for nuptials. The constellations Pushyami, Dhanishta, Mrigshira, Ashwini, Chitta, Punarvasu are ordinary The rest of the constellations are to be rejected. At the time of nuptials, no planet should occupy the 8th house.
Fixing time as per Ashtakavarga system : Our ancient sages never advocated for a “son” - but for a “virtuous son”. All their astrological wisdom has been applied so that an intelligent and dutiful son could be born to a couple. For those adept in astrology or has a keen desire to explore the mysteries of this science several systems have suggested various methods. A method is suggested here with the help of Ashtakvarga system. Ashtakvarga system needs that date chosen by the couple for nuptials should confirm to the following set of conditions simultaneously: a. Jupiter must have minimum 4 auspicious points (more, the better), on that day, in his own Ashtakvarga. b. Jupiter should be in a kaksha of such lord who is a contributor of these auspicious points. c. The kaksha lord for Jupiter should neither be an enemy (“Shatru”) nor a bitter enemy (Adhi-shatru) to it. Better will be if the kaksha lord is best friend (“Adhimitra”) of Jupiter. d. The sum of auspicious points for all seven planets, on the required date, should be more than 30. e. If a male child is desired, Jupiter should be in a male planet’s Kaksha. Male planets are Jupiter, Mars and the Sun. f. If a female child is desired, Jupiter should be in a female planet’s kaksha. Female planets are Venus and the Moon. g. When Jupiter is in the Kakshya of Mercury or Saturn, those dates should be avoided because these two planets are eunuchs. h. Jupiter should be transiting in a sign which is strong in native’s Sarvaashtak varga. i. Sun should be transiting in a sign having highest auspicious points in Jupiter’s Ashtakvarga. j. For precise timing during the chosen day, sexual intercourse should be during the period, when a sign is raising containing highest number of auspicious points in Jupiter’s Ashtakvarga. Conception is most likely to take place at this time. Childless couples may please note.
However, if one is unable to calculate dates with such precision and confirmation to all these sets of conditions, at least one can plan conception during a month which coincides with the Sun’s transit in the sign having highest auspicious points in Jupiter’s Ashtakvarga. Classical texts say that a virtuous son will be born out of this conception.
