4. SUMMARY This Technical Support Note provides information about recommended SW upgrade paths on new (out of box) Flexi Multiradio System Module FSMF version 472181A.103. ** Warning ** Do not use older SW versions than recommended in section 5. Failure to do so may result in loss of connection to FSMF module, which can be fixed only in NSN repair centre. All new FSMF version A.103 modules are delivered with preinstalled LN4.0 1.2 (LN4.0 ENB 1202_781_57) SW. Repaired FSMF version A.102 modules are also updated to same LN4.0 1.2 (LN4.0_ENB_1202_781_57) SW since week 11/2014. After this, FSMF version A.102 works exactly the same as FSMF A.103, including RAN2423 SW Verification agent (WCDMA) and LTE940 SW Verification agent (LTE/TD-LTE) features. Some FSMF A.102 modules delivered from NSN hubs may still contain older factory SW (LN4.0_ENB_1202_696_00). In this case it is recommended to check the possible SW upgrade options in reference documentation (chapter 8).

5. DETAILED DESCRIPTION New FSMF A.103 modules are delivered with the preinstalled SW LN4.0 ENB 1202_781_57 that has hardware security enabled (SW Verification Agent). As a consequence, updates are possible only to the following (or later) SW versions: − −

For example: i) SW update from Factory SW to LN4.0 3.0 Minimum SW level requirement for SW update between factory and LTE (LN4.0 3.0 > LN4.0 2.0) is fulfilled. SW update is allowed. ii) SW update from WN8.0 3.0 to LN5.0 Minimum SW level requirement within WCDMA (WN8.0 3.0 > WN8.0 2.0) and LTE (LN5.0 > LN4.0 2.0) is fulfilled. SW update is allowed.
6. HW CHANGES In Flexi Multiradio System Module FSMF version 472181A.103, new silicon revision for the DSP chip is introduced. This HW change does not have any SW or feature related impact.
7. NOTE Flexi Multiradio System Module FSMF 472181A.103 deliveries have started on November 2013. If the minimum required SW level for FSMF 472181A.103 (described in chapter 5. of this Technical Note) is not possible for a customer by that time, NSN MBB CS should be contacted.
