Is consist of two coils of wire known as the primary and secondary coils. It is used to increase or decrease the voltage. Transformer are designed so that (nearly) all the magnetic flux produce by the current in the primary coil also passes throught the secondary coil.

TWO TYPES OF TRANSFOMER •
Step – up transformer
-The Secondary coil contains more loops than the Primary coil (Ns > Np). -The Secondary voltage is greater than the Primary voltage.

Step – down transfomer -The Primary coil contains more loops than the Secondary coil (Ns < Np). -The Primary voltage is greater than the Secondary voltage.
