In oblique elasc collision conserve momentum in x and y direcon separately since kinec energy is scalar, therefore do not take components of kinec energy. However kinec energy is conserved just before and just aer collision.

Since momentum and energy are treated invariant quanes of moon therefore acon is regarded as impulse or change in momentum and not force. Moreover, it is assumed in an isolated system that there may be exchange of energy and of momentum between different parts but total of each quanty is conserved.
