My major now is the theoretical study in Physics of Electronic Materials. My interest in electr electroni onics cs has emerg emerged ed when when I was studyi studying ng in the Master’ Master’ss degree. degree. After After finish finishing ing my undergraduate study, Electronic Materials has always been the subject that fascinate me most with its power of applications and theoretical study. It is also obvious that I was deeply learning this area during my Master’s degree. I have taen some courses such as !ptoelectronic, "olid "tate Electronic #evice I and II, Advanced "olid "tate Physics, $hrystal %rowth and #efect &heory, Material "tructure and Properties, "emiconductor #evices 'abrication, and Principles "emico "emicondu nducto ctorr #evice #evicess &heory &heory.. I am now conducting a research is about how to find E*act Analytical "olutions #escribing (uantum #ot in "emiconductor Materials. &his is not a new area because for more than two decades many researchers had wored in this field. +owever, the uniueness of my research is foun found d in the the way way that that how how I made made the the theo theore reti tica call conc concep eptt in the the spec spectr trum um ener energy gy of semiconductor materials. -ntil now, I have only studied "emiconductor Materials and #evices in the theoretical concepts concepts because laboratory laboratory euipments euipments in my country are not adeuate, so I want to study it in e*perimental research for then. &he Electronic Materials research in "emiconductor Materials and #evices is not popular in my province and institution -niversity of +/0P 1ommensen2, so I want to develop it in my institution. 3eflected on those situations and after seeing the website of the #epartment of Electronic Engineering, 1&-"&, and consulting with the members of 1&-"&4 1&-"&4 I"A Indonesian "tudent Association2, I came to the conclusion that the #epartment of Electronic Engineering Engineering in 1&-"& is the best place for me to continue, continue, improve, improve, and mae a new direction direction of my research field. I have graduated from #epartment of Electrical Engineering, -niversity of "umatera -tara, the biggest university in 1orth "umatera, Indonesia. I am interested in Electrical Enginering since I was in primary school. 1ow, I am woring as non4permanent lecturer in a private college in Medan the capital city of 1orth "umatera. 'or me, to be a lecturer is not only about job. 0ut the main reason for me is because of calling. I want to devote my self to develop sciences and technology in my country Indonesia. 'or this purpose, I have a strong willingness to continue my study to the ne*t level, pursuing master and even doctor degree. I reali7e that studying and research much more will ma*ima7e my potency to be a scientist and reseacher who have high competence. 0ecause of the funding reason, I search for scholarship program to get master degree. In the past I have tried to apply to 1&-"& scholarship program for spring 89:8. I accepted in %raduate Program in Electrical Engineering #epartment without scholarship. 0ecause of this condition, I couldn’t attend the program because I cannot fund my self by my self. &he same reason problem will be happen if I am accepted without scholarship. 1ow, I apply to the same scholarship program as before, but in a different department. I want to continue to study in Master #egree in Electronic #epartment, "pecially in Power Electronic. 0esides because I lie electronic field, another reason is because I now that electronic technology is very important in automatitation technology. &he integration of electronic and power will give a wide effect for human being. 3eliability, uality and efficiency of electric power are related to reliability of electronic systems. I want to go deep into the improvement of power uality and efficiency by electronic engineering. In undergraduated program I studied some courses which are related to that goal. "ome of them are 0asic Electronics, 0asic of #igital Enggineering, Microproscessor "ystem, Electric $ircuit, 0asic of $ontrol "ystems, and Power Electronics. 0eside those courses, my job as a lecturer that teach 0asic Electronics and the basic understanding of electronic software also has euiped me to go to the ne*t level of this field of study. &o understand more about Power Electronics and to prepare my self for the better foundation of Power Electronics, now, I am studying some boos by my self. &hose boos are 'undamental of Power Electronics Ericson, 3obert ;, 89992 and Introduction to Power Electronic
