DAILY CONTROL TESTS
Steam Ships (32-60 Bar MPSG) Control and Dosage Chart Standard Treatment with DREWPLEX® OX Corrosion Inhibitor Read MSDS before running these tests. Before testing, samples must be cooled to 25°C (77°F) by collecting through a sample cooler for safety and to prevent flashing which concentrates the sample. If the sample is colored or turbid, filter before testing. If the sample remains cloudy after the first filtering, the sample should be
refiltered through the same filter paper since the filter becomes more retentive on the second filtration.
DEHA
1. Fill the sample cup to the 25-ml mark with feedwater sample. (Fig. 1). 1 2 2. Add 2 drops of Activator Solution. Stir gently with tip of an ampoule from the DREWPLEX OX 25 corrosion inhibitor Ampoule Test Kit to mix the contents of the sample cup (Fig. 2). 3. Immediately snap the tip of the ampoule by pressing the ampoule against the side of the sample cup. The sample will fill the ampoule and begin to mix with the reagent, leaving a small bubble to facilitate the mixing (Fig. 3). 4. Remove the ampoule from the cup. Mix the contents of the ampoule by inverting it several MEANS OF ADJUSTMENT times, allowing the small bubble to travel from end to end each time (Fig. 4). • DREWPLEX® OX corrosion inhibitor 5. Wipe all liquid from the exterior of the ampoule and WAIT EXACTLY 10 MINUTES for full color development (Fig. 5). • Continuous Dosage 6. Place the DREWPLEX OX corrosion inhibitor ampoule, flat end downward into center tube of comparator. Direct the comparator toward a source of bright white light while viewing from bottom. Hold comparator in a nearly horizontal position and rotate it until the color standard below the DREWPLEX OX corrosion inhibitor ampoule shows the closest match (Fig. 6). 7. Record the result and adjust dosage as necessary.

PHOSPHATE – Filter sample before running test 1. Fill sample cup to the 25-ml mark with cooled, filtered boiler water (Fig. 1). 2. Place phosphate VACU-VIALS1 ampoule in sample cup. Snap tip by pressing ampoule against side of the cup. Ampoule will fill, leaving a small bubble to facilitate mixing (Fig. 2). 3. Mix the contents by inverting the ampoule, allowing the bubble to travel from end to end. Wipe all liquid from the exterior. WAIT 5 MINUTES (Fig. 3). 4. Press ON. When the display shows “---”, the photometer is ready (Fig. 4). 5. Zero photometer by inserting VACU-VIALS blank ampoule into cell compartment, aligning vertical line on ampoule with water droplet on photometer. Cover ampoule with light shield. Press ZERO button. Display will show “S1P” momentarily, then it will read “-0.0-” (Fig. 5). 6. After the 5 minute wait required in step 3, insert the phosphate VACU-VIALS ampoule with proper cell alignment into the cell compartment. Cover the ampoule with the light shield. Press the READ button. The meter will show “S1P” momentarily, then it will display the test result in ppm ortho phosphate as PO4. Record the result and adjust dosage as necessary.

MEANS OF ADJUSTMENT • BLOWDOWN
DOSAGE INFORMATION Up to 700 µS/cm - Satisfactory Above 700 µS/cm NORMAL MAINTENANCE BLOWDOWN INCREASE BLOWDOWN FREQUENCY Blowdown should be carried out as per boiler manufacturer’s instructions. Blowdown is necessary to reduce dissolved and suspended solids. If suspended solids are noticed in boiler water samples, blowdown regardless of conductivity test results. Increase flash bottom blowdown for the first 4-6 months after treatment startup to remove any transported oxides coming back from the steam system.

the meter. 2. Add 2 drops of phenolphthalein indicator to the cooled boiler water sample and stir. If the sample turns pink, add Gallic Acid while stirring until the pink color disappears. This neutralizes the sample (Fig. 2). 3. Place electrode into sample and take care to ensure that the liquid level is above its upper steel band. Stir the electrode gently in the sample to create a homogenous sample (Fig. 3). 4. Allow time for the reading to stabilize. Note the reading on the display. 5.
