She is the representative representative of abundance in all its forms , access access ible to all and readil y respons iv ive e the effects effects of yagy yagyas as w hen s incerely performed.
hira ṇyavar ṇā ṁ hari ṇ ī ṁ suvar ṇarajatasrajām, candrā ṁ hira ṇmayī ṁ lak ṣm ī ṁ jātavedo ma āvaha. tāṁ ma āvaha jātavedo lak ṣmīmanapagāminīm, yasyāṁ hira ṇyaṁ vindeya ṁ gāmaśva ṁ puru ṣānaham. Invoke Inv oke for me, O Agni, Agni, the Goddess Goddess Lakshm i, who shi nes l ike gold, yellow yellow in h ue, wearing gold and s ilv ilver er garlands, bloom ing like the m oon, the embodim ent of wealth. O Agni! Agni! Invoke Invoke for me that unfailing unfailing Laks hm i, being bles sed by whom I shal l win wealth, catt cattle, le, horses and m en.
aśvapūrvā ṁ rathamadhyā ṁ hastinādapramodinīm, śriya ṁ devī devīm m upah upahv vaye śrīrmā devī devīrju rju ṣatām, kāṁ sosmitāṁ hira ṇyaprākārāmārdrāṁ jvalantī ṁ tṛaptā ṁ tarpayantīm, padme sthit sthitā ā ṁ padmavar ṇāṁ tāmihopahvay tāmihopahvaye e śriyam, I invoke invoke Shri (Lakshm (Lakshm i), who has a line of horses in front of her, a series of chariots chariots in the mid dle, who is being a wakened by the trumpeting of elephants, who is divinely resplendent. May that divine Lakshmi grace me. I hereby invoke that Shri (Lakshm i) who is an em bodim ent of Absol ute Blis Blis s; who is of pleasa nt smil e on her face; face; whos e lustre is like that of burnishe d gold; who is wet, as it were, (just from from the mi lky ocean), who is blazing with splendour, and is the embodi ment of the fulfilment fulfilment of all wis hes; who s atisfies the desi res of her votaries; votaries; who is s eated on the lotus lotus and i s beautiful like the lotus.

ādityavar ṇe tapaso’ dhijāto vanaspatistava v ṛkṣo’tha bilva ḥ, tasya phalān i tapasā nudantu m āyāntarāyāśca bāhyā alak ṣmī ḥ. For shelter in this world, I resort to that Lakshm i who is beautiful like the moon, who s hines bright, who is blazing with renown, who is adored (even) by the gods, who is highly magnanim ous, and grand l ike the lotus. May my mis fortunes perish. I surrender myself to Thee. O Thou, resplendent like the Sun! By Thy power and glory have the plants, (like) the bael tree, grown up. May the fruits thereof destroy through Thy Grace all inaus piciousn ess rising from the inner organs and ignorance as well as from the outer senses .
upaitu m ā ṁ devasakhaḥ kīrtiśca m a ṇinā saha prādurbhūto’smi rā ṣṭ re’sm in kīrtim ṛddhi ṁ dadātu me. kṣutpipāsāmalā ṁ jyeṣṭ hāmalakṣmī ṁ nāśayāmyaham, abhūtimasam ṛddhi ṁ ca sarvā ṁ nir ṇuda me g ṛahāt. O Lakshmi! I am born in this country with the heritage of wealth. May the friend of the Lord Siva (Kubera) and Kirti (fame) come to me. May these (having taken their abode wi th me) bes tow on m e fame and pros perity. I shall d estroy the elder si ster of Lakshm i, the embo dim ent of inaus picious ness and such evil as hunger, thirst, and the like. O Lakshm i! Drive out from m y abode al l m isfortune and poverty.
gandhadvārā ṁ durādhar ṣāṁ nityapuṣṭ āṁ karī ṣiṇ īm, īśvarī ṁ sarvabhūtānāṁ tāmihopahvaye śriyam. manasa ḥ kāmamākūtiṁ vāca ḥ satyamaśīmahi, paśūnā ṁ rūpamannasya mayi śrī ḥ śrayatā ṁ yaśa ḥ. I invoke hereby that Lakshm i (Shri), whose (m ain) avenue of perception is the odoriferous s ense (i.e., who abides mai nly in cows); who i s incapable of defeat or threat from anyone; who is ever healthy (with such virtuous qualities as truth); whose grace is s een abundantly in the refuse of cows (the cows bei ng sacred); and who is s upreme over all created beings. O Lakshm i! May we obtain and en joy the fulfilment of our d esires and our volitions, the veracity of our s peech, the wealth of cattle, the abundan ce of varieties of food to eat! May prosperity and fam e res ide in m e (thy devotee)!

Sri Suktam – Rig Veda Mantra for Lakshmi
kardamena prajā bhūtā mayi samb hava kardama, śriya ṁ vāsaya me kule m ātara ṁ padmamālinīm. āpa ḥ s ṛ jantu s nigdh āni ciklīta vas a me g ṛhe, nica de vī ṁ mā taragï śriya ṁ vāsaya me kule. Lakshm i! You have progeny in Kardama. (Hence) O Kardama, m ay you res ide in me . Make Mother Shri with garlands of lotuses, to have Her abode in my (ancestral) line. May the (holy) waters create friendship (they being of an adhesive nature). O Chiklita (Progeny of Shri), resid e in my hom e; and arrange to m ake Divine Mother Shri to stay in my lineage!
ārdrāṁ pu ṣkari ṇ ī ṁ pu ṣṭ i ṁ suvar ṇāṁ hemamālinīm, sūryā ṁ hira ṇmayī ṁ lak ṣmī ṁ jātavedo ma āvaha. ārdrāṁ yaḥ kari ṇ ī ṁ ya ṣṭ i ṁ pi ṅgalā ṁ padmamālinīm, candrā ṁ hira ṇmayī ṁ lak ṣmī ṁ jātavedo ma āvaha. Invoke for me, O Agni, Lakshm i who s hines like gold, is brilliant like the sun, who is powerfully fragrant, who wields the rod of suzerainty, who is of the form of suprem e rulership, who i s radian t with ornaments and i s the goddes s of wealth. Invoke for me , O Agni, the Goddes s Laks hmi who sh ines l ike gold, blooms like the moon, who is fresh w ith anointment (of fragrant scent), who is ado rned with the lotuses (lifted up by celes tial elephants in the act of worship), who is the presiding dei ty of nourishm ent, who is yellow in colour, and who wears garlands of lotuses .
tāṁ ma āvaha jātavedo lak ṣmīmanapagāminīm, yasyāṁ hira ṇyaṁ prabhūtaṁ gāvo dās yo’ś vānvindeya ṁ puruṣānaham. Invoke for me, O Agni, that Goddess Lakshm i who is ever unfailing, being bles sed b y whom I shall w in wealth in plenty, cattle, servants, hors es, and men .

Sri Suktam – Rig Veda Mantra for Lakshmi
ōm ma hādevyai ca vidmahe vi ṣṇupatnī ca dhīma hi, tanno lak ṣmī ḥ pracodayāt. We comm une ours elves with the Great Goddess , and m editate on the Consort of Vish nu. May that Lakshmi direct us (to the Great Goal).
