“Drawing a parallel between the treatment of female cattle in the dairy industry and female representation in mainstream visual culture, Farmer John works works to prompt reflection to our connection and contribution to mutually accountable patriarchy and mass-consumerism; are we both the farmer and the herd? ”

???? veganism and eminism !!!!! I’m trying really hard. I’m trying really ucking hard to understand my place in the t he world but it’s becoming more and more diffi cult as I come into being and identiy in new and meaningul ways. As a settler on unceded territory and cis identied white girl, I am having trouble articulating mysel as a vegan eminist in this complex and contentious world o labels. While I believe veganism and eminism are inherently tied and eel passionately about the intersectionality o animal rights, the environment and eminism, I struggle to reconcile where this all ts into other aspects o intersectionality such as Indigenous rights, race and gender. I think my ear o getting it wrong or appearing to invalidate someone else’s else’s culture and belies ofen prevents me orm engaging in a constructive argument surrounding veganism. Tis ear has a silencing affect that compounds my conusion and leaves g iants gaping wholes in my idea o intersectional eminism. I want so desperately to learn how to talk about t he rights o non-human beings while maintaining a compassionate eminist perspective that takes all ways o being into accounts. Tis silencing effect rom the ear o getting it wrong is a constraint in eminist discourse and my own experience o the world and the patriarchy. patriarchy. I ofen catch mysel policing every ever y word I say or simply saying nothing to avoid conict. However, conict is ofen a space where our most important steps towards inclusivity unold.
Fuck your Macho Bullshit we don’t need you to liberate the animals or us we don’t need you to organize or us we don’t need you to protect us on the ront lines we don’t need you to take up all the space we don’t need you I you are a manarchist, sexist, ableist, classist, racist, heterosexist male identied person you are derailing the movement, you are creating spaces that are unsae or women/girls and other marginalized groups.
I’m convinced that veganism and eminism are reliant on one another and challenging and abolishing the patriarchal, colonial, racist, corporate capitalist system is the only way to establish true change and achieve basic rights or all sentient beings.

some (brief) notes towards a feminist anti-speciesism Whose lives are real? real? […] What [..] is the relation between violence and those lives considered as ‘unreal’?” —Judith Butler, Precarious Lives definition of SPECIESISM 1: prejudice or discrimination based based on species; species; especially : discrimination against against animals 2: the assumption assumption of human superiority on which speciesism is based (Merriam-Webster) definition of SEXISM 1: prejudice or discrimination based based on sex; especially : discrimination against against women 2: behavior behavior,, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on sex (Merriam-Webster) * a suggestion the word “natural”—as “natural”—as spoken by misogynists, misogynists, homophobes, and carnists—is a powerful indicator of the rhetorical power faux-biology has in establishing oppressive cultural cultural practices as normative. (e.g. rape is as “natural” as consuming the tortured bodies of non-human animals.) * to state the obvious veganism is neither a “diet” nor a “lifestyle choice.” feminist veganism veganism especially especially represents a conscious embodied realization that systems of oppression areinterconnected; areinterconnected; that empathy is an intellectual and ethical ethical practice; that we don’t need excuses for not solving every fucking problem in the world with our veganism; and that we have a choice to either participate in the enslavement, rape, torture, and murder of our non-human sisters—to consume their flesh and the milk meant for their own babies—and attempt to justify our choices by pointing to the same myths that keep patriarchy intact—or not to. *

Liberate ourselves from these cages, Constructed by society to restrict us, Bind us, and keep us unseen. Our pain is invisible as money rolls in. We are not seen as individuals, But as objects, to get their fill. To follow what we are told, Either willingly or with force. Images pollute our minds, They control and manipulate. We are shackled in their restraints. Held back as others are hurled forth. Knocked down, beaten and abused. Our struggle so invisible, And yet our suffering so real. How much more will we take? We must break free of these locks. Step outside of our cages.

Vegan or ethics: Riots not Diets Te association o veganism with diet culture is detrimental to our movement. Tis is emblematic o t he gendered ways people enter veganism. Women/girls in our culture are socialized to police their b odies and consequently their ood choices, which ofen leads women and girls to diet c ulture that promotes veganism (read: plant based). Diet culture upholds emininity: the ritualized submission o women o a class. Veganism is about radical non-violence towards non-human animals, to ourselves and Mother Earth. Veganism is NO diet culture. Diet culture destroys women and girls, it orces us to hate our bodies and mutilate our bodies. Te capitalist nature o the beauty industrial complex and the agricultural industrial complex have no place in our movement. Veganism Veganism is not about shaming women/policing women’s ood choices. It is about empowering ourselves to make ethical ood choices, to realign ourselves with our values. *as the author o this article I am aware that there are instances in which women with less capital/access to ethical ood sources are unable to make these choices, this does not make you less o a eminist FUCK PETA FUCK PETA FUCK PETA FUCK PETA FUCK PETA FUCK PETA FUCK PETA
