The Power of Sigils What is a sigil? It is a symbol or glyph that you create to perform a magickal function. I will show you how to create your own sigil shortly. Some believe that the great occultist Austin Osman Spare was the orginator of sigil magick. I believe It may have come from an earlier time. Either way Mr. Spare’s method is my favourite. Sigils are monograms of thought, for the government of energy ... a mathematical means of symbolising desire and giving it form that has the virtue of preventing any thought and association on that particular desire (at the magical time), escaping the detection of the Ego, so that it does not restrain or attach such desire to its own transitory images, memories and worries, but allows it free passage to the sub-consciousness. --A.O.Spare I have used sigils for many years. I like the ease of creating one, I like the fact that they are a very personal (and maybe more powerful because of) form of magick. In this case sympathetic magick. A sigil when created is a little bit like a home-made talisman. It can be carried, and you can use them for many varied purposes. How to Create a Sigil Creating your sigil is a piece of cake - and you don’t need to know how to cook! First, decide what you would like to make your sigil for, what job do you want it to perform? For our example will will use the following; A Sigil for Self ConfidenceSTEP 1: Right, we need to create our wish phrase, this is a sentence that expresses our desire. Right this on a piece of paper. Your phrase must be written in the positive tense, as in ‘I am Very Self Confident Now!’ Try to keep it brief, you’ll see why in a minute and don’t use any negative words or terms, only positive expressions. STEP 2: So, write your desire at the top of a page in CAPITAL LETTERS! O.K. Look at your sentence and remove any repeated letters; I AM VERY SELF CONFIDENT NOW becomes I AM VERY SLF CONDT W STEP 3: You now take the remaining letters and combine them into a symbol. You can place them on top of each other, next to each other, or any way you like. The idea is to formulate a pattern that appeals to you personaly!

Activating or Charging your Sigil Focus on your newly created symbol and what it is supposed to do for you. I suggest staring at the sigil (tear it from the page so that no other text is with it) until it grows blurry. Some schools suggest that you should now forget the sigils use (i.e. more confidence in this case) I disagree. Keep your sigil where you can see it or look at it often. Each time you look at it remember the your particular desire not the actual written words. You can create a sigil for anything you like, and even make one to increase your spells or talismans power, if you are into magick big time. Try not to have more than 2 or 3 sigils in use at any one time because your subconscious mind will get overloaded and your sigils will lose their power. You sigils get their strength from your subconsious mind. I keep one in my wallet so that I can take a peek every now and then. That’s how easy they are to make. On the next page I have listed some other uses for sigils. I will write them in the manner that they should be used. Just remember to be positive, use present tense and be accurate in your expression...
