SIGIDI

SIGIDI Sigidi, ou Sugudu é divinizado como o pesadelo. O nome parece significar "algo curto e vultoso", e o deus, ou demônio, e é representado por uma cabeça larga e curta, feita de barro, ou, mais geralmente, por um cone grosso, cegado de barro que é ornamentado com búzios e é indubitavelmente o deus que mexe com a cabeça das pessoas. Sigidi é um deus mau, e permite o homem satisfazer o seu ódio em segredo e sem risco para ele. Quando um homem deseja se vingar de outro ele oferece um sacrifício a Sigidi que, logo após a noite chegar, vai para a casa da pessoa indicada e o mata. O modo de ele proceder é se agachar no peito da vítima dele e "apertar fora à respiração dele" mas, acontece freqüentemente que a divindade tutelar do sofredor venha em seu auxílio e o expulsa e a vítima desperta, caindo no chão, e Sigidi desaparece, porque ele só tem poder em cima de uma pessoa durante o sono. Esta superstição ainda existe entre os negros das Bahamas adquirida dos Yorubas e acreditam que os pesadelos são causados por um demônio que abaixa no peito da pessoa que dorme. A palavra pesadelo é oriunda de uma convicção semelhante assimilada por nós vinda dos Anglo-saxões que acreditam que os duendes teriam esse poder. A pessoa atacada por Sigidi, tem que permanecer acordada até o seu deus protetornegociar com Sigidi e dar autorização para adormecer, pois, se ele dormir antes da negociação se concluir, Sigidi vai atrás dele novamente e a missão falharia. Sigidi viaja no vento, ou aumenta os ventos para flutuar; O primeiro sintoma que a pessoa tem quando é atacada por Sigidi, é um sentimento de calor e opressão na boca do estômago, como se tivesse comido arroz quente, fervido, disse um nativo. Se um homem experimenta isto quando ele está dormindo, faz-se necessário a ele buscar a proteção do deus que lhe serve normalmente. Podem ser colocadas casas e cidades debaixo da tutela de Sigidi. Para conseguir sua proteção, tem que se fazer um buraco cavado na terra e uma ave, ovelha é morta, de forma que o sangue caia no buraco e o animal seja enterrado ali. Um montículo curto, cônico de terra vermelha é construído logo em cima da mancha, e um pires é colocou em cima para que sejam recebidos sacrifícios ocasionais. Quando um local foi colocado debaixo da proteção de Sigidi, ele mata, da maneira típica dele, os que prejudicam as casas ou a cidade com intenções ruins. A Sigidi is a powerful spirit that is created by the Ologun and is sent on errands, some could be made to kill an enemy, protect a house, disturb an enemy in the dream, or just frighten people in a house, some could be sent to go and steal (charms, money etc). Some Sigidi(s) are so powerful that they become worship able deities, while Sigidi(s) could be used in various ways according to the sort of formula it is intended for, we will just focus on the Onfa here. There are Sigidi Onfa(s) whose duty is to go and bring a loved one that is missing or that has eloped with another man, or a missing child that we do not know his whereabouts or even a dead person that we are unaware that he is dead.(in this case the person will appear in ones dream and explain how he died or where he is now). The Sigidi(s) are very powerful and in some cases they are given weapons to operate with like a knife, cane, etc. they could also be given a time limit to operate, like a candle could be lighted in front of the Sigidi and say before this candle finishes burning I want you to accomplish this mission, (though not in all cases). This does not mean that if the Sigidi is meant to go and bring someone both the Sigidi as well as the person will enter your house at the same time the candle finishes burning, but it means that the Sigidi has seen to it that the person is on the way or is about to make a move towards that purpose, but even in some cases things could go wrong somewhere along the line, that is why an Ologun should possess the inner eye. So much could be said on the Sigidi, but lets move on.

Warning! When

a sigidi is sent on an errand you do not sleep until it returns cos you do not know what message it is coming with, it could be good or bad. People possess charms that work as back to sender and these charms prevent sigidi(s) from coming near them, in such a case the sigidi could return to the sender to inflict the same pain it was sent to go and inflict on the person it was initially sent to. Then if it catches you sleeping this could spell danger, so one must always be alert. But all in all Sigidi is a good, sure and powerful option. Another form of Onfa is the Fitila Onfa, Fitila means Lamp. So this is a magical lamp that is lighted with the intention to draw someone to you. This lamp is lighted in the day or at night depending on the formula and it is left to burn for a period of time, this type of formula is very powerful and I noticed that whenever I tried it, I couldnt sleep (at night). This particular formula makes the person being charmed unable to do anything but think of you. So if its done all through the night do not be surprised if you see your loved one knocking on your door the following morning if he/she does not live too far away, or making the phone call if its unusual of him. This case could be if you guys are already on speaking terms and are familiar with each other, but there is now friction between you two. If not, then you would notice that your path keeps crossing and if its a lady she will keep having this great smile on her face whenever she sees you or a frown which is willing to break up if you could just say hi. (Dont be discouraged if  she doesnt respond, keep the lamp burning), before you know it she will start asking for you from all your friends.
