Te Song O Devotion
Verses o Aspiration or the ullment o the Enlightened Vision o Khenchen Jigme Phuntsog, the reincarnation o erton Lerab Lingpa By His Holiness the Dalai Lama
O lord o sages, Shakyamuni, Who through abandoning and realizing attained supreme Buddhahood, With your hearts sons, Lord Maitreya and Manjugosha, Te seven patriarchs, the seventeen great panditas and the like, All you great ounders o the teachings in the noble land o India, And especially you who introduced the excellent path in ibet; Te three ancestral Dharma kings, the second Buddha—Padmakara, Shantarakshita and your entire lineage; recollecting your kindness lls us with aith and devotion. So as to bring living inspiration to countless beings, you spread Te teachings o Buddha, our victorious guide endowed with the our-old earlessness, Radiating them, with the ve perections, to ortunate disciples in every direction, O learned, skilul and noble lama, to you we pray. When the time came or the enlightened aspiration and actions O the Dalai Lama Tubten Gyatso to be ullled, it was through their spiritual link Tat Lerab Lingpa, with his cycle o teachings, Brought a wealth o auspiciousness to the people o the Land o Snows. Even amidst the oppressive darkness o the ve degenerations, 26
You perected your study, contemplation and meditation on all the outer and inner pitakas, and countless scriptures, Reached the highest experience and realization o their meaning, And stood out, as the supreme holder o the denitive teachings. When the erce winds o change blew with unbreakable intensity, Your determination and resolve remained steadast like the king o mountains, And those in saron robes, upholders o the three trainings, And devoted ollowers in their thousands, ocked around you. Day by day, by means o their study, practice and spiritual activity, You ullled the deepest wishes o beings who came rom ar and wide, And with a great Dharma rain o ripening empowerments and liberating teachings, vast and proound, You planted the perect seed o enlightenment within us all. From the teachings o the Shravakas up to Atiyoga, You bestowed the scriptural traditions o all the vehicles, Along with every drop o nectar rom the pith instructions, And satised the hearts o all your ortunate disciples. How clearly we recall the mandala o your perect orm. How distinct the deep melody o your enlightened speech. How vivid the knowledge and aection o your wisdom mind, Remembering all your noble qualities, ervently we pray to you. All o us who are your ollowers, we pledge With unwavering eort, to apply aith, diligence and critical intelligence o the wish-granting treasury o the nine vehicles, 27
And to devote ourselves, always, to the practice o contemplation and meditation. Trough the power o this prayer, O Lord, may all your aspirations Be perectly realized, and so bring inspiration to beings throughout the whole o space, And may we all never be separated rom the teachers o the supreme vehicle, So that we cultivate completely the qualities o experience and realization. Trough the vast and compassionate blessings o the lamas, yidams and dakinis, Trough the power o interdependence, the nature o things, which is beyond all imagining, And through the strength o unchanging and ervent devotion in both teacher and students, May these aspirations come to pass, just as we desire!
Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche gave immense service to the Buddha’s precious doctrine o scripture and realization in both teaching and practice, and he claried the teachings o the Ancient ranslation school as his enlightened aspirations and prayers rom the past came to maturation. In his noble activity, he greatly beneted the teachings and beings by turning the wheel o Dharma extensively and in a non-sectarian way, aecting many thousands o devoted ollowers in a number o countries around the world through his wonderul aspirations and enlightened deeds, but especially at the Larung Institute or Higher Buddhist Studies, which he ounded in Serta, East ibet. 28
At this unortunate time, when he has displayed the appearance o directing his wisdom mind into the dharmadhatu as a result o some external and internal adversities, it is extremely important or his griestricken disciples to pray one-pointedly to their great teacher and to make an oering o their practice by diligently applying themselves continuously and without hypocrisy, as well as by keeping in their hearts his essential instructions that distil the essence o sutra and mantra, and not orgetting them. So that the enlightened intentions o this great being may be ullled completely and to help dispel the anguish o his disciples,, I recently made this prayer. May all these aspirations be ullled! Tis was written by the Buddhist monk, enzin Gyatso on the feenth day o the rst month o the Wood Monkey year (6 March 2004) during the seventeenth calendrical cycle. May virtue abound.
