Using ED’s for the identification of device status Pro ibus-DP network status
1. Copy the GSD of he v lve terminal into the directory ...\STEP7\S7Data\GSD on your PC/programmer.
Bus Failure
2. Copy the icon files or the CPX terminal into directory ...\STEP7\S7DATA\NSBMP on your PC or program mer.

3. Insert a DP master system: - Right−hand mouse click on " P "under "CPU". 4. Open the following fol der in the hardware catalogue: "\PROFIBUS−DP\Additional − erminal" erminal" onto onto the line Field devices\Valves" . Pull the station type "FESTO CPX−T o the DP master master syste system. The dialogue window "Propertie _ PROFIBUS interface" will be displayed. 5. Select the PROFIBUS address identical to the selected setting on the DIL switch. 6. Open the module "FE TO CPX−Terminal"(folder\PROFIBUS−DP\Additional Field Devices\Valves\...) in the hardware catalogue. 7. Pull the first (left−han − ) mod modul ule e of of you yourr CPX CPX term termin inal al onto onto line 0 in the configuration table. Repeat this step with urther modulesof your CPX terminal.

Alternative diagnose
The “Status bits” are 8 major signals which can be considered inside the PLC program. They are accessed via the optional “Strobed connection”

Bit Diagnostic information Description ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------0 Fault at valve Module type on which 1 Fault at output a fault has occurred 2 Fault at input 3 Fault on analogue/function module ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------4 Under voltage Type of fault 5 Short circuit/overload 6 Wire fracture/open load 7 Other faults --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Additional and advanced diagnostics can be read out with: - Online-Mode of S7 - Handheld unit CPX-MMI - USB adapter/ Ethernet with CPX-FMT software
Tip
Screening - Correct screening at each connector - The cable screen should be connected to ground at both ends of the cable
Changing GSD size
The GSD file size is around 220KB. Some PLC memory cards have in total only 256KB. It could happen that the size of the GSD file is too big. In order to decrease the size proceed according follow steps. 1. Open GSD file e.g. CPX_059.GSD with an Editor 2. Scroll down to “Modultypen”
Potential equalization The cross-section of the potential equalization cable should be chosen with regard to the maximum potential equalization currents which can flow.
Note: A good Installation is necessary for a trouble-free operation
Tip
IDLE and Fault Mode
FAULT mode: Defines the status of output signals during a network failure when connected to a running PLC The default setup defines all output signals to the OFF state during one of the modes
3. Mark the modules which are not needed (e.g. CPI modules)
4. Delete and save the file
Tip
Diagnostic integration
Diagnostics -Diagnostic data and parameters are usually also integrated into the GSD files and are read out in online mode of configuration tools like “Step7” or can be interpreted by PLCs. -16 pre-defined failure types.
An optional channel based setup can be made: Value to OFF (default) Value to ON Hold Last State
-Advanced diagnostics may be Integrated into the PLC with the use of OB82 and OB86 function blocks. Diagnostic information is structured in - Device oriented diagnostic - Module oriented diagnostic - Channel oriented diagnostic See manual CPX-FB13 chapter “Diagnosis” for more details
